A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....11-09-04....What they're wearing to the Inaugural Ball

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

T he election's over, but the euphoria remains for nearly 60 million of us! And now we have another Inaugural Ball to look forward to in January. Of course, that means we get to play dress-up again, so I thought it would be fun to see what a few of FR's well-dressed ladies would be wearing to the ball.
And who better to present them than two of the Finest' most eligible bachelors - the very suave and debonair Louie Wolf and the equally charming and debonair Johnny Fox (aka ST.LOUIE1 and jwfiv, respectively)
I know you're thinking, "Just show us the pictures already," so let's get started. Feel free to whistle anytime. I'll let the pictures do all the talking. Suffice it to say, th' fox and th' wolfie are in very good company. :)

L ast, but most certainly not least, one final show-stopping gown on a very popular Freeperette - the one who oversees many of our live threads of very important news events.

Have a Terrific Tuesday!

Yes, I've been playing in the FReeper Album and FReeper profile pages again. :) Thank you all for making today's thread prettier and funner. I can't decide which is my favorite gown, but I'm leaning towards four of them. ALL of you look absolutely stunning!

Hope For Worriers
Read: Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1
Bible In One Year: Jeremiah 46-47; Hebrews 6
Everyone worries occasionally, but I was once a "professional worrier." My daily preoccupation was mulling over my worries, one by one.
Then one day I had to face an uncomfortable medical test, and I was frantic with fear. Finally I decided that during the test I would focus on the first five words of Psalm 23, "The Lord is my shepherd." This exercise in meditation not only calmed me, but I gained several fresh insights. Later, as I slowly meditated through the entire psalm, the Lord gave me more insights. Eventually I was able to share at conferences what the Lord had taught me.
If you're a worrier, there's hope for you too! Rick Warren, author of The Purpose-Driven Life, wrote: "When you think about a problem over and over in your mind, that's called worry. When you think about God's Word over and over in your mind, that's meditation. If you know how to worry, you already know how to meditate!"
The more we meditate on God's Word, the less we need to worry. In Psalm 23, David meditated on his great Shepherd instead of worrying. Later, God chose him to be the shepherd of His people (Psalm 78:70-72). God uses those who can honestly say, "The Lord is my shepherd." Joanie Yoder
When fear and worry test your faith
And anxious thoughts assail,
Remember God is in control
And He will never fail. Sper
The more we think about God's Word, the less we'll think about our worries.

Hi Mayor! The map of "Jesusland" sort of reminds me of the story of the origins of the Revolutionary war song Yankee Doodle.
One popular story goes that the song was sung by the British to mock and degrade the "lowly farmers" who were looking for Independence from the elite British - who for sure thought they were much smarter and refined than the common farmer. Of course we know that the song Yankee Doodle is a very popular song in the United States to this day. The common folks got such a kick out of being belittle by a group of losers that they adopted the song- to remind the British that snobbery and sophistication did them little good in the real fight.
The dedication and drive of our early ancestors ( The county bumpkins) was "misunderestimated"
Oh, how history repeats itself.
They should all wear feathers in their caps and call it Macaroni to the Inaugural Ball!!

This exercise in meditation not only calmed me, but I gained several fresh insights. Later, as I slowly meditated through the entire psalm, the Lord gave me more insights. Eventually I was able to share at conferences what the Lord had taught me." Oh, how this one resonates with me!
Way back in December of 1985, I was scheduled for a kidney biopsy by the Nephrologist to whom I had been referred.
Asking him what to expect so I could cooperate, he said I would be face down on a radiology table after an ultrasound to locate the exact position of the kidney and depth from the surface.
He stressed he would go in 3 times for tissue samples, but it was imperative that when he commanded me to "HOLD MY BREATH," I had to do so -- explained if I inhaled with the extraction knife in the kidney, it would slice it open and I might very quickly bleed to death on the table --- okay....
Working in that hospital and perfectly at ease with Things Medical, I took that in stride, and the night before, lying in bed, decided to practice.
Took a deep breath and imagined the knife stabbing me in the back, and was horrified that almost at once the urge to BREATHE was tremendous! Within mere seconds, I *needed* to do so!
After the ultrasound and I was lying on the table waiting for Dr. Fox to start, Polly, the Radiology Supervisor and a good friend, sat down on a stool by my head and held my hand. While I really was not afraid of going through this, the gesture of comfort was appreciated.
When he was ready to plunge into the 'X' mark and said, "Hold your breath," without any volition on my part, I found myself serenely reciting the Twenty-third Psalm!!
By the second line he was through, and this was the scenario for the other two extractions as well.
Going with me on the elevator to the floor where I had to lie flat on my back for 24 hours, he explained the nurse would collect urine samples for several hours and line up the small glasses with each one on the window ledge for him to see the amount of blood that would leak from the entry points, to be sure it was diminishing.
If not, a trip to OR would be necessitated.
Contrary to the norm, God had touched the sites, and to his astonishment, there was not a single drop in any ---
What an AWESOME God we have!!
