U.S. News: Hillary May Not Run
Newsmax ^ | 11-30-04 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 11/30/2004 5:37:36 AM PST by truthandlife

Some Hillary supporters say the former first lady may not make a bid for the White House after all.

Though initial polls show Sen. Clinton as the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination in 2008, U.S. News & World Report says Hillary may not seek the job.

Paul Bedard's "Washington Whispers" column in the latest edition of U.S. news reports that ". . . some friends and allies advise against placing bets that the former first lady will be the nation's 44th president."

Citing these close friends to Hillary, the magazine says Hillary has made no commitment to running, and some say she is not in the race at all.

"She's not running," one supporter told Bedard.

Bedard writes: "The thinking in the 'don't run' campaign is that Clinton is well aware of the partisan feelings she generates. 'People love her or they hate her,' says an adviser. 'There's very little gray area to gain voters in.'"

Others say that Hillary's campaign would quickly get mired in the same scandals that rocked her husband's administration.

How long can Hillary hold out in hiding her intentions?

Not long.

Political pundits say that with the presidential campaign now on a full four year cycle, Democratic candidates will be locking up big money supporters and Democratic operatives in key primary states.

If a candidate doesn't make clear their intentions early, they risk losing the party's movers and shakers to early runners.

Dick Morris believes Hillary is indeed running. He notes that the recent inauguration of the Clinton library was the soft kick off her national campaign. He oberved that though the library was about her husband's legacy, Hillary conducted most of the major media interviews.

Read it again. They could be saying that she'll run and lose!

Remember that Hillary won't dare stand up and wave at a Yankee game, where the 90% male audience would boo her unmercifully. This in the heart of the bluest city in a very blue state.

The politician with THE highest negatives among white males is not the solution for the Democrats nationally. I'd love to see her run.

When Hillary proclaimed she was a conservative, evangelical Christian she proclaimed her candidacy. Otherwise she would be giving us the finger.

Looks like Hillary's gonna be mighty busy with her Extreme Makeover. The question is---in light of the resounding 2004 Values Voters Victories---how "conservative" will Hillary get? .....

hehe!

That's gonna be SOME kinda makeover there!! :^O

Also, we must all work diligently in the coming months to convince “progressives” that the Democratic Party has let them down. They must abandon the party. Their only recourse is to join and work for the Green Party moving forward. I may even register as a Green Party member to swell their voter registration rolls. Divide and conquer.

Begin with putting all known “progressives” in your sphere of influence on the Green Party mail list from their website. Great fun. Start inundating them with information now.

(Maybe one of our cleverest FReepers will photoshop Hillary's face on the cookie baker.)

Now, why would you want to subject this poor child to that kind of abuse?

You're right about that. Once again a 'leading' Democrat demonstrates she cannot be elected by being authentic. If Hillary runs representing what she **is** as opposed to what she wants us to believe, then she will be soundly defeated. This poppycock about being an evangelical is SO transparently false as to be comical.

Uh-huh "others" say. And the rest say Hiltlery's got her OWN scandals to worry about.

The msm used many shovels to bury Kerry's negatives from public view. They would use steam-shovels to bury Hillary's.

If we thought the msm were 'favorable' to Kerry [and the 2004 msm were revealed to be the most favorable toward one candidate -- Kerry -- than any msm in history], imagine the gushfest if Hillary did run. The was msm gushes over her just for her book sales, for her hubby's library, etc. We thought 2004 msm 'favored' Kerry? There wouldn't be any comparison to the favoritism if/when Hillary runs.

Smokescreen!

Absolutely! The next Presidential campaign won't even start to roll for another two and a half years. Nobody is going to remember what she says today. (except Freepers, that is)

She's running, I'd bet on that, but she won't be the 44th POTUS and I'd bet on that too.

Bush was reelected without the help of the MSM. Hillary will be defeated the same way sKerry was.

She's a BI***, and America knows it.

She will not win! As badly as I want a woman to be president...I would chew off my own foot before I would cast my vote for her.

You're absolutlty correct about the MSM, but now we have the Pajamahadeen (us). Ergo, the MSM knows we're onto them and their old failed tactics will not work.

'WE' are Buckhead!

I hope Hillary DOES run.

Outside of the liberal blue states what support does she have?

Think of all the scandals that will be rehashed when her hubby was in office, and let's not forget a suicide and some record books laying on a table.

Hillary's run will energize the consevative base again, and give the Dems another beating that they sorely deserve.

The pubbies need Hillary to run in '08.

If I remember right she and Bill danced on the egos and pocket books of some pretty powerful contributors when they left office. They made some enemies, lost important friends, used people and toss'ed them aside.

She may not be garnering the support she needs to make a run. Plus the likelihood of the US accepting a woman at the helm during a WOT is not good.

Hillary has a timing problem. She has to run for Senate in 2006. If she runs again, she has to promise to stay for six years and she risks getting beaten by, perhaps, Giuliani.

If she doesn't run, she has two years of being a one-time senator from a blue state. Worse than John Edwards, at least he was from the South.

She can't win.

She can run but she won't win.

America is not yet ready for a female president. Nor for a black president.

The day will come when it won't matter wether they're male or female, black or white.

But not yet.

I could not disagree more. America has shown it will support any person who gives the public something to believe in. The problem for most females and minorities in public service: The socialist / liberal / pseudo-progressive machine fights the progress for anyone not in the socialist / liberal / pseudo-progressive plantation.

President George W. Bush has supported the progress of minorities in high level positions in government more than any other President. The reason his appointees are fought so hard is they tend to be self made individuals. One of those will break through soon and be either President or Vice President.
