A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Oh, the weather outside is frightful But the fire is so delightful And since we've no place to go Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
Some of us almost never see snow this early, so we can only dream of a White Christmas. But look outside! The Finest is covered with a beautiful white blanket of snow today, so grab your warm clothes and your gloves and boots - today is SNOW DAY! Let's have some fun - sledding, building snowmen, making snow sculptures... snowballs... Last one out is *IT*!
~ SPLAT! ~
Didn't take lonestar, Gail and Kitty Mittens very long to start decorating the tree...
but all tuliptree wanted to do was ride on the sled!
Of course that's the wolfie playing kissing games (and the lady.. could it be..? It is! It's Pippin!)
Thin Man and Temple Owl play a game of catch (but watch your back, Mr. Owl - that's T Man, you know)
The Mayor, no stranger to snow, just feels like singing!
Diver and jwfiv are ready to start their snow sculpture!

Brrrrrrr! It's freezing! My toes are cold, my hands are cold, my nose is cold - let's go back inside - that fireplace sounds really inviting right now! Besides, I think I saw deadhead and Texagirl, LadyX, Nan and DollyCali and LuvW making hot chocolate and roasting marshmallows.
It is soooooo cold outside ... and ...
It doesn't show signs of stopping. And I've bought some corn for popping. The lights are turned way down low... Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Believing Is Trusting
Read: Romans 5:1-11
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes. —Romans 1:16
Bible In One Year: Joel 1-3; Revelation 5
Occasionally I meet people who know they have a spiritual need but are reluctant to make a personal commitment to Christ. Although they have seen what faith in Christ has done for others, they are confused by the advice they get from some good churchgoing people.
One man told me he had been advised to join a certain church to be saved. He was told by someone else that he had to be baptized in a particular church. Still others spoke vaguely about trying to obey the Sermon on the Mount. And one of his friends said he needed to go through a period of intense sorrow for sin before he could expect God to save him.
Frankly, I don't blame that confused man for saying to me, "I don't want to read any pamphlets or tracts. Show me right from the Bible how I can be saved." So we started reading passages in Romans and discussing them. By the time we reached the fifth chapter, he said, "It's clear to me now. All I need to do is place my trust in Jesus Christ." He did, and he found peace.
We have saving faith when we believe what the Bible says about us and about Jesus Christ, and when we act upon that truth by placing our trust in Him.
If you have not done so, trust Jesus now. —Herb Vander Lugt
God sent His Son to die for us—
No other life would do;
So why not trust in Christ today,
Accept His gift to you. —Branon
We are saved not by what we do but by trusting what Christ has done.

What a *fun* thread (((((Billie))))))! I love all of the animations and the stories you told using Finest FRiends. I especially like the snowing border - very nice!
It felt cold enough to snow here in So. FL this morning. It was only 47 degrees - brrrrrrr. I did *not* move back here to freeze! :-)
Weather reports that the *high* in Atlanta will only be 47, so I guess I shouldn't complain. We'll be up into the 70's before we know it down here.
Have a great day to all at the Finest!

Oh, Billie.....I saw that picture in #2 last year, for the first time. I want to live there SOOOOOOOOOOO badly! It's a beautiful picture, isn't it! There may be nothing prettier than a thick covering of snow outside - before it's been tracked in and snowmen built...and then it starts to melt! Ugly! :)
My back yard three years ago. Doesn't the table look neat!

Hi, dansy! It's cold here today too, after last week being around 70 degrees. Glad you like today's post - I just loved that snow border when I found it a few weeks ago and knew we had to use it one day! Snowmen are always fun, and more fun when we can 'name' them after some of our regulars. :)

Morning Billie, all. Well, you did it again, YOU OUTDID YOURSELF ONCEMORE. Just lovely.. the welcome pix looks like a Kinkaid.. others are now copying the artist of light technique.. and I like even the copycats.
the sparkly border is really unique and the pix selections great.. the ice sculptures and graphic wonderful. I esp love the elf painting the icicle.
Will be emailing link around for others to enjoy.
We have about a foot of fallen snow on the ground now. Still heavily falling. 2-3 foot drifts *unfortunately some in driveway. My driveway is over a 100 foot long & the shoveling process is long.. but I do small amounts over the course of day.
When snow is predicted I part nose out at the end of driveway by road. Just need to clear the pile the plows deposit & i can slip out.
going to do some cross country skiing later somewhere .. after my "chores" are done. (well, maybe some of them.. ....well maybe one of them? ... well maybe after I make a list of chores?....well, maybe if I think about things that MIGHT go on list....
what chores????
Just want to greet you all this morning & hope you have a great day.

This is one of my favorite verses of scripture. This reminds me of exactly how President and Mrs. Bush live their lives. Regardless of what anyone says about them, they will freely talk about God and Country in the same conversation. They know the difference between "Church And State", and "God And State". I just wish more people could understand it.

How very beautiful, Billie. It was so cold this morning I could have used a good cup of hot chocolate on my way to work.
Went to the hospital early to see my sister before coming to work. Yesterday she had the second of what will be 4 surgeries before they are done with her. The next will be Thursday.
Thank the Lord, she is wanting to eat. This is the first time in about 3 months that I heard her say she was hungry. I owe a lot of thanks to a lot of folks here for answered prayer.
Have a great day, everyone.

Thanks, Dan! Although I think snow is breathtakingly beautiful, I'm like Dansy - sort of a fair weather girl. :) I would be happy living in 70 degree weather every day of the year. It could rain at night, and then the sun come out every morning. :) Oh, well - let's enjoy the snow here today!

Just lovely.. the welcome pix looks like a Kinkaid.. others are now copying the artist of light technique.. and I like even the copycats. Thanks so much, Dolly - you always say such sweet things. I love ThomasKincaid's paintings, and the graphic does look a lot like his - it could be his or as you said, a copycat. I don't repost many artists' works - and especially without their names prominently displayed and/or a link to their page, but did find this one in another collection of graphics; I edited it a bit - spotlight and color, and of course the welcome text.

Mornin' Billie. Another great creation you've made today.
The fog around here at times is so thick I think I'll try to make a snowman out of it.
Mrs.d and I were talking yesterday about takin' the boys up to the mountains for some time in the snow.
Before jw and I get started with the sculptures however, CATCH!...
