A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Mama_Bear and JustAmy’s Pictorial Review
of the Inauguration and FreeRepublic Ball

How to describe the W2 Inaugural Ball? Words fail me (as they so often do), so I will post photos and let them speak for themselves. It is my hope that they will convey just how wonderful and exciting it was to be a part of this momentous event!

~ JustAmy's Observations
and Photos ~

"Jaban Shalal's companion (nephew or brother, not sure) told me that the media will not tell you but the citizens of Iraq have pictures of President Bush in their homes. The Iraqi people say "Thank you George Bush; Thank you America!" The Iraqi people love George Bush.

What a pleasure it was to meet so many FReeper FRiends and what a disappointment to miss seeing everyone.

While on my way to the kid's room, I saw Bob Barr but I did not get a chance to talk to him. He was surrounded by others. When I returned I could not find him in the crowd.

The DC chapter did a wonderful job on the kid's room. They not only set up a TV with kid's movies available but supplied coloring and activity books. Everytime that I checked it, the kids were having a wonderful time making new friends.

The band was outstanding. The music was loud and jivey. It seemed that all ages joined in the fun .... children, teenagers, young adults and even some of mature adults. :)

I was told that Jim Robinson even got out to the dance floor for at least one dance. Way to go Jim!!" ~ JustAmy.

JustAmy and I have more photos that we will post, and I hope, if you were able to attend the Ball and/or the Inauguration, you will post your photos or links to them here on the Finest thread, as well as your memories of this exciting event.

It was wonderful getting to meet so many freepers that I have long admired on this forum. My only regret is that I did not get to meet those who were unable to attend. God willing, I will have another opportunity someday soon.

And finally, congratulations and a Finest salute to President Bush and Vice President Cheney. May God bless and guide them through the next four years, and may God bless America and our military!!

He was totally trashed. That, and the fact I know Chuck Norris is WAY taller than I am (I had no shoes on in that picture) was what clinched it for me knowing it really wasn't him.

I would love to say I was feeling no pain.....but I can't. My feet were absolutely killing me, and in fact they still hurt today.

We only had a 4 block walk to the Ball from the Metro station....unfortunately we made a wrong turn and walked 4 blocks in the OPPOSITE direction, so my poor foots were hurting even before we got to the ball.

I wish I had met Jen, I sure could have used her fuzzy slippers!!!!

Today's calendar, although theologically imprecise!, certainly gives voice to the hurly burly of inauguration activities!

It was just cold.......the streets and sidewalks were in very good shape. We actually had more snow here on the Eastern Shore than they had in DC Wedesday night/Thursday morning.

I don't envy you your shovelling.......my back aches in sympathy with yours :)

Good morning, Mama_Bear. Great pictures.

I'm asking every who hasn't yet, please pray for the men and women who were in a helicopter crash this morning. May they rest in peace. May their families find comfort in know that many cared and loved their loved ones.

The advantage of living out here in the country is that there are no sidewalks to be shoveled like I had living in Dover. And it's a good thing too........I've got 500 feet of road frontage!!!

We have a 10' walkway to the driveway and that is all that has to be shovelled. The driveway is dirt/grass/gravel/clam&oyster shells and so doesn't get shovelled, thank goodness, because it is a horshoe that goes behind the house.

I dislocated my shoulder/collarbone digging out 33 inches of snow in February 2003.....my husband was in Atlanta for the week. I have not lifted a shovel since then, and I have no intentions of ever doing so again.

I don't blame you.
When I was in Virginia we had a gravel driveway,
The snow and ice would mix in with it and you couldn't get any traction.
Thank God we had a 4 wheel drive jeep, the driveway went up hill which made it all the worse.

I'm really bad, I haven't moved my car in a week. Hubby's got a 4 whell drive pickup. I don't see the point in trying to drive on the icy back roads around here in the Escort.

This part of Virginia is so flat that if I jump I'm nearly the highest point in the county!

We're actually having a heat wave here...it's all of 40degrees.

But it's grey and damp..........the kind of weather that makes you want to snuggle back up under the covers. Come to think of it, I told hubby that was exactly what I was going to do...........4 hours ago.
