A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Mama_Bear and JustAmy’s Pictorial Review
of the Inauguration and FreeRepublic Ball

How to describe the W2 Inaugural Ball? Words fail me (as they so often do), so I will post photos and let them speak for themselves. It is my hope that they will convey just how wonderful and exciting it was to be a part of this momentous event!

~ JustAmy's Observations
and Photos ~

"Jaban Shalal's companion (nephew or brother, not sure) told me that the media will not tell you but the citizens of Iraq have pictures of President Bush in their homes. The Iraqi people say "Thank you George Bush; Thank you America!" The Iraqi people love George Bush.

What a pleasure it was to meet so many FReeper FRiends and what a disappointment to miss seeing everyone.

While on my way to the kid's room, I saw Bob Barr but I did not get a chance to talk to him. He was surrounded by others. When I returned I could not find him in the crowd.

The DC chapter did a wonderful job on the kid's room. They not only set up a TV with kid's movies available but supplied coloring and activity books. Everytime that I checked it, the kids were having a wonderful time making new friends.

The band was outstanding. The music was loud and jivey. It seemed that all ages joined in the fun .... children, teenagers, young adults and even some of mature adults. :)

I was told that Jim Robinson even got out to the dance floor for at least one dance. Way to go Jim!!" ~ JustAmy.

JustAmy and I have more photos that we will post, and I hope, if you were able to attend the Ball and/or the Inauguration, you will post your photos or links to them here on the Finest thread, as well as your memories of this exciting event.

It was wonderful getting to meet so many freepers that I have long admired on this forum. My only regret is that I did not get to meet those who were unable to attend. God willing, I will have another opportunity someday soon.

And finally, congratulations and a Finest salute to President Bush and Vice President Cheney. May God bless and guide them through the next four years, and may God bless America and our military!!

Good morning, you two. Hope you are feeling better today, Lori. Today's thread is a winner - everyone so looks forward to the Inaugural pictures of other Freepers! Thank you both for letting those of us who weren't there live vicariously through you!

Jen, not to worry! You either looked really great all by yourself or Mama Bear did a heck of a job retouching! :)

Re #61: You *two*? Okay, I really can count, but I started my post just to Lori and Amy and added Jen without changing my 'rithmetic. :)

Hope you get to feeling much better Mama Bear. How about a nice margarita to soothe that queasy feeling? :)

Hi, Gabz - that is a cute picture! Would love to see the rest of your dress. Long? Short?

No pictures of the whole dress........but it is long, and is split up to mid-thigh in the front.

I admit to it being a recycle, I didn't buy a new dress this year. But I had only worn this one once before. 8 years ago next month, it's my wedding dress.

Funny thing about the dress is that over the years it changed color on my. The part of it you can see in the picture is the color it was when I bought it........but the rest of it, which is crushed velvet, was a forest green 8 years ago. It's now brown.

Great pics, beautiful job laying them all out cuz..

Awwwww........thanks, Rus.

I wish I could have made it..

Me too. But, as it turned out, it was probably better that you didn't come. How would you have gotten back home in that blizzard? You guys really got hit hard up there!

Good morning, phancy.

Yes, what devastating news about that chopper crash. It's the first thing I heard when I woke up this morning. My heart just breaks for the families.

FReezie ... Yes .. Marissa is a ham! :~)

Marissa was not impressed with having her picture taken with Jim ...
she sees him every week or so, but ...
She was very impressed with his cowboy hat!
I may be forced to get her another hat before our next rally.

I think it was after 1:00 when I took this picture and the child looks tired. :(

what a pleasure it was to meet you Thursday night!!!!!!!

Yes, it was a pleasure meeting you too! I almost missed you and would have been so upset had I left the Ball without getting to hug you. There were a couple others that I wanted to meet, and I know they were there but in the crowds I couldn't find them. :-(

I am not sure what you promised me about "pictures" either, LOL.......maybe that you would send me some? Or, maybe I promised you that I would send you some. I only had two drinks all evening, but, even so, everything is a blur.

If you want the full size photo that I took of you and JimRob, freepmail me your e-mail and I will send it. (Did you already give it to me? Yikes....I can't remember, LOL)

There were so many of them. It's never easy to take the death of a soldier, but when it's so many at once it seems especially tragic.

On a lighter note, I love the topic today on the Finest!
The Inauguration was great (if not a little bit COLD!).

Yes, it was cold and us wimpy California bears are not acclimated to cold weather. I think that is why I caught some kind of bug back there in DC. I got over-tired too and my resistance was probably down. :-(

Did you go to the Ball? If you did, I am so sorry I missed you....there were SO many people there!

I caught cold as well! And I'm used to the cold weather myself...we're getting used to it in Ohio.

I was at the Independence Ball at the convention center.
The President SPOKE TO ME! I am still on cloud 9!

Also got some great photos (sorry I don't know how to post them!).

Marissa is such a pretty little girl (I'm sure she's never heard that! LOL), and I've really enjoyed the pictures of all of you that Freezie has posted. The zoo, the tea - all great pictures!

Wonderful meeting you and your husband at the Ball, Jen. And am so glad he is now as full-fledged freeper.

You look gorgeous in your photos. I am sorry you can't see them. Yes, I posted your grand entrance into the ball in your freeping slippers. Sooooo cute! I will e-mail you all the photos that you and turbojet are in. Do you want them full-sized, or reduced?

I hope your mom gets better, and turbojet too. So many people are sick right now.....including me. I got a flu shot three weeks ago. This is just not fair. :-(

The president SPOKE TO YOU!!?? You lucky thing!

He had me fooled at first.........but then I realized he was far too short!!!

Yes, and when I got home and my husband saw the pictures he said that it was an amazing resemblance, but that Chuck Norris is a bit older than this impersonator. I think he is right about that.

Between Freezie, MamaBear and me, we have oodles of Marissa pictures. I may do a thread at Amy's Place titled Marissa's DC vacation. LOL

She had a ball except for standing in line for over 2 1/2 hours to miss the President!:(

After flying to DC and back she thinks she wants to drive the plane and give everyone something to eat and drink when she grows up.

We had a wonderful time even tho we did not get into the inauguration. That was a huge disappointment for all three of us.

Thank you, Diva. I am sorry you couldn't go too. FR knows how to throw a party, that's for sure! Plan on being there in '09, when I hope we will be celebrating another four years of Republican leadership in DC.
