Ever since 9/11, Muslim leaders who have access to the national media have told us that Islam is the religion of peace and that violence does not represent the essence of Muhammads religion.
Even President Bush and Britains Prime Minister Blair have repeated this assertion, saying that Islam has been hijacked by a few violent fanatics. Is this true?
Sadly it is not, for empirical, observable facts demonstrate beyond doubt that Islam at its founding is filled with violence in the life of Muhammad himself and in the Quran itself.
Hence, these Muslim apologists must stop misleading unsuspecting Westerners, and they must be honest about the heart of their religion, for once and for all.
Here are ten clear, verifiable reasons that explain why Islam is not the religion of peace.
Clear? In order to prevent the standard, reflexive out of context defense from Muslim apologists, the context of each verse in the Quran is explained either in this article or in the links provided within each of the ten reasons. No verse is taken out of context, and Muslim translators are used.
Verifiable? The readers are invited to look up each verse in the Quran in multiple translations, by visiting this website and typing in references, like so: 61:10-12. (61 is the chapter or sura, and 10-12 are the verses). Once at the site, they should ignore request for the transliterated Arabic titles of the chapters in the Quran, and just type in the numbers.

Preaching to the choir. Why bother??
I can give you just under 3000, they all dies on 9-11.
This topic is getting pretty stale. Haven't we moved beyond this discussion yet?
Of course Islam is associated with violence, death and "martyrdom." But it probably has a least some benefits also, and hopefully good people in the Islamic world will find a way to build on those benefits.
Sadly, we can give even more than that. If you take all of the bombings and other attacks and murders against the US, Israel, and anyone perceived as helping the US or Israel over many, many years, you end up with far more reasons than anyone has actually counted.
Even if it is preaching to choir, it is important that we realize that "religion", and not just "Muslim" religion, is often a cover for othere nefarious stuff. You can't trrust it. You do not need to go through rituals and collect money to talk with God. All you need to do is be quiet and listen to your heart.
I think #1 should be - Forcing beautiful women to put bags on their heads and bodies...
Religion of Peace? Ping!
Like shooting fish in a fish store.
Can't we all just get along?
No further questions are needed!
Fart towards Mecca Alert.

Could we have a little less of the simple-minded religious bigotry, please?

Radical Islam's 'plan' to take over America - Arab-American author outlines secret 20-year strategy to undermine country
islamic infiltration in the schools:
"...the real Islam is not what its philosophers and mystics have inferred but what is in the Quran and that is the Islam of the fundamentalist and the terrorist. The real Islam is the Islam that abuses women, that allows men to beat their wives, that imposes penalty tax on the religious minorities, that wants to dominate the world by subduing all the non-Muslims, that calls for Jihad and killing the non-believers until Islam becomes the only dominant religion of the World*."
"The enemy is Islam and that is the target of my attacks. I do that, despite knowing that I have become the magnet of the hatred of fanatical Muslims and my own life could be in danger.
Yet I know that by eradicating Islam we can save the world from the dangers of a catastrophe that otherwise is looming over our heads and could cause more disaster than the 1st and 2nd World Wars combined."
"A former top official of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency paints a menacing picture of the relationship between Islam and terrorism.
"Islamic terrorism is based on Islam as revealed through the Quran," keynote speaker Bruce Tefft claimed in a panel discussion at the University of Toronto on jihad and global terrorism.
And, he added, "There is no difference between Islam and Islamic fundamentalism, which is a totalitarian construct..."
According to Tefft, the Quran enjoins Muslims to believe that the whole world should be governed by the principles of Islam*, an expansionist religion that has historically grown through conquest..."
-- Omar Ahmed, Chairman of the Board of CAIR (Council of American Islamic Relations), San Ramon Valley Herald, July 1998
The same can be true of governments, schools, blogs, and just about any human institution. People can be very nefarious and will cover themselves with whatever is handy.
And with all of these institutions, the key is whether they are able to operate in the light of day or whether they must keep certain things hidden. Some religions and some governments are better than others in this respect.
Some common sense! And lest those without it forget, Christianity did some pretty awful things in the name of religion too.
