That's all I have so far.
I don't think so. One black sheriff deputy killed and one black sheriff deputy in critical condition. I think that this sucker is on his own.
Maybe not since one of the victims was black.
Fulton County still has the rape and kidnapping charges against him. That should be enough to hold him until the new charges are filed, although I would be surprised if they didn't have at least 3 murder warrants in hand by the time he was captured.
It'll never get passed the 9th Circus
The feds have him on a gun charge..IIRC
You are correct about the rape charge. That case still has to be adjudicated. However, the FBI's weapons charge will hold the suspect until the rape charge is dealt with, and the other charges are filed. That's why the weapons charge was filed.
You don't have to issue a warrant if you already have the person in custody. All you have to do is file the charge against them.
I am certainly just as appaled as everyone, and not trying to outline a defense but gain some insight. The statements of Nichols' family about the person they knew, vs. his actions, open the opportunity to discuss some possibilities about what might have changed and affected his psyche.
Check my posts..I have not discussed the steroid use at all..Perhaps you clicked on my post by mistake.
There may be reasons his personality changed. There are no excuses.
Whoops, sorry MEG33, the above post#688 was meant for TexKat. I selected the wrong post for my reply to his/her post #679. Guess I should have waited till morning when I was less tired. Mea culpa.
LOL...we are typing at the same time. I don't believe in excuses. See my tagline. This case is especially typical. I was just wondering how any human being could behave in such a manner, unless something created an unnatural reaction.
He may be a psychopath..They can be quite charming and nice...They have no conscience..They are nice when it serves a purpose. Just don't get in their way..
I think you need to direct that to yourself since I did not over react.
You ask me about the possible steroid involvement, and in return my question to you was have you seen, read or heard any reports of Nichols use of steroids.
A simple question. I thought perhaps you had read this somewhere.
And my remark regarding the steroid made me do it defense was not directed at you, but was a general statement.
However I am really not one to speculate in situations such as this, the media does enough of that.
The legal consultant on FNC this morning is saying that the code is such that either the ICE agent had to be performing his duties as an agent, or that Nichols would have to have known he was a federal agent in order for it to be considered a federal offense. Yesterday, all the other legal consultants were all acting like that didn't matter. I guess we'll see.
Just so you'll know, the people at THIS house will be pulling for Ga. Tech today. :-)
Sorry, kcvl I cannot answer that. I did not see this. I was at work when this all happened.
It seems that all four of his victims were wonderful people and all but one had children. That is so sad that some damn fool had to destroy these families just because he couldn't behave himself.
That is so true. Almost unbelievable. And in the end the perp ends right back in custody of LE worst off than he was to begin with. Prayers go out for all the families involved.
I also heard that his parents were in Tanzania working. His mother used to work for the IRS and now she works for the Tanzania government?
Yes I read that his mother retired from the IRS and heard one of her neighbors state yesterday that the mother had been offered a one year position some where in Africa.
I'm magnanimous towards Ga. Tech at this time of the year since it's only basketball. :-)
Georgia's got a good coach (I think) but the recent scandals will keep them down for another couple of years.
What irks me, though, is just how good the ACC has become in football!
As Bob, the little Quizno's baby would say,..."That's just wrong". :o)
A decent state prosecutor (even in Atlanta) ought to be able to load the guy up with 3 death penalites and a couple of life sentences, not counting the carjackings and the batteries, so I'm not worried about the guy getting off. f all else fails, Gwinnett ought to be able to get him a life sentence on the kidnapping up there.
By the way, to clarify a point, I have no problem with enhanced penalties for someone who attacks a law enforcement officer because he is a law enforcement officer.
