On Saturday afternoon, I drove to Rockville, Md., for a large "gathering to condemn the REAL ID Act." (The act will tighten driver's license standards to prevent illegal aliens from obtaining the IDs, close asylum loopholes, and provide funding to fix a huge gap in a border fence between California and Mexico.) Casa de Maryland, a government-funded open-borders group, organized the protest on the public school athletic field at Richard Montgomery High School.

Several hundred "documented" and "undocumented" workers attended, demanding driver's licenses and blanket amnesty. Maryland is one of ten states that don't require applicants to prove they are citizens or legal residents. Nevertheless, militant CASA leader Gustavo Torres complained: "The MVA [Motor Vehicle Administration] has absolutely no right to ask for people's Social Security number or immigration status to get a driver's license." The illegal alien advocates led protesters in a chant demanding that the "MVA Obey The Law!"
No kidding.
A contingent of Montgomery County police officers were dispatched to the scene--not to help with immigration enforcement, but to protect the protesters, help direct traffic, and manage the parking lot for illegal aliens who (ahem!) drove to the event. Our tax dollars at work.
With Casa de Maryland organizers shouting "No license, no justice! No justice, no peace!" in the background (the only time I could understand them as they exhorted the crowd), I interviewed Montgomery County, Md., police lieutenant J.R. Hack (yeah, that's his real name). Lt. Hack amiably told me the protest was "a good thing." When I asked him why, he said "everyone should have a voice."

I have no problem with giving them amnesty. However, in order to do that the border will be shut down and they will need to:
1. Register as legal citizens
2. Hold a job that pays both social security and income payroll taxes
3. Must file income taxes
4. Be sponsored by a citizen
5. Not have any outstanding arrest warrants in the country of origin
Pretty simple
Let's settle this once and for all.

DEMs are a hundred million times more invested in an open borders policy. If a good compromise between security and laor can be made, REpublicans will jump on it wiht both barrels. The people with the biggest open borders incentive are the DeMs NOt the 'Pubs.

Personally, I don't care whether the Guest Worker Program or Israel-Palestine option is implemeted. As long as the borders are ecure, I'll be happy.
One thing that is absent in this debate is the new American work (un)ethic. All of us here grew up on the Horatio Alger/American Dream where we get success through hard wrok and dedication. With the perversion of our culture, we end up with spoiled rich boys who expect a six-figure income when they get out of college. These whiny brats will see jobs like fariming, dish washing, etc as beneath them and they want the latinos to take such jobs.
If Americans took any job offered, we wouldn't even be arguring about the invasion.
When the PResident talks about jobs Americans won't take, our first reaction is BS. But this statement is more true than we think. You or me will gladly take almost any job, because we need to succeeed and feed ourseleves (and our families, if you lucky people have one :P). But there is a large contingent of people who will not take jobs "that are meant for undocumented workers."
One key of the GWP is that Americans don't lose employment opportunities. Fine and dandy. If this plan comes along, it is up to us to make sure that every available job slot is taken by Americans. This way, illegals won't be hired. Bring up charges on employers who deliberately employ aliens before hiring a citizen. And tell the stupid louts to get off their lazy asses and get that d@mn job. You want to be a money broker? Go to a McDonalds. Some kid went into space and he got that job flipping burgers.

Wise up! She will come out and say she is against illegal immigration, but you should know she will do nothing about it. It is getting to the point where it will be up to citizens to protect their country.

You are correct. I did. I do not think it is wise to put thousands of businesses out of business because of this. While not the right thing to do, it is the most cost effective thing to do.
Try hunting down every illegal. It is not going to happen. Even if you threaten every business that hires one, they will not turn them in. Closing the border and granting amnesty, then putting them on the tax rolls is the easiest thing to do.
The only thing Hillery is serious about is getting elected to queen. Otherwise she doesn't care who resides in her kingdom.
