A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Suggestions on how to live a happy & rewarding life:
|
Take time to smell the roses.
Be thankful you were born in this great country.
Dont forget that we are ultimately judged by what we give, not by what we get.
When you hear a kind word spoken about a friend, tell him so.
Never hesitate to do what you know what is right.
Be charitable in your speech, actions and judgment.
Dont compare your children with their siblings or classmates.
Be enthusiastic in your expressions of gratitude and appreciation.
Take some silly photos of yourself and a friend in an instant photo booth.
Tour your state capitol building.
Earn your success based on service to others, not at the expense of others.
Never pass up a chance to be in a parade.
When someone lets you down, dont give up on them.
What you have to do, do wholeheartedly.
Find a job you love and give it everything youve got.
Never complain about a flight delayed for mechanical repairs. Waiting on the ground is infinitely better than the alternative.
Never forget that it takes only one person or one idea to change your life forever.
Occasionally let your children help you, even if it slows you down.
Throw a surprise birthday party for a friend.
Teach your sons as well as your daughters to cook.
Remember that when your mom says, Youll regret it, you probably will.
Play catch with a kid.
Write some poetry.
Shoot a few hoops.
Never ignore an old barking dog.
Hold yourself to the same high standards that you require of others.
Never let the odds keep you from pursuing what you know in your heart you were meant to do.
When the best in the world visits your town for a concert, exhibit, or speech, get tickets to attend.
When you need to apologize to someone, do it in person.
Finish projects before they are due.
Let your children observe your being generous to those in need.
Cut your toenails in private.
Return shopping carts to the designated areas.
Make your money before spending it.
Worry about the consequences of the choices you make before you make them
not afterward.
Spoil your wife, not your children.
Stay humble.
Stay on your toes.
Buy each of your children a special Christmas ornament every year. When they move into their own homes, box the ornaments and give them as housewarming gifts.
Remember that you an miss a lot of good things in life by having the wrong attitude.
When a guest, never complain about the food, drink, or accommodations.
Write a letter to the editor at least once a year.
Overpay the neighborhood kid who does yard work for you.
Frame anything your child or grandchild brings home on his/her first day of school.
If its not a beautiful morning, let your cheerfulness make it one.
Remember that a minute of anger denies you sixty seconds of happiness.
Include a recent family photo when writing to a love one.
If you are so lucky, ask your grandparents to tell you stories about your parents while they are growing up.
If you are so luck, have your kids ask your parents stories while they are growing up
Welcome the unexpected! Opportunities rarely come in neat, predictable packages.
Never miss an opportunity to go fishing with your father.
Never miss an opportunity to go traveling with your mother.
Hold a childs hand when crossing the street.
When traveling, stop occasionally at local cafes and diners.
Never underestimate the influence of the people you have allowed into your life.
Never swap your integrity for money, power, or fame.
Never sell yourself short.
Never be ashamed of your patriotism.
Never be ashamed of honest tears.
Never forget life before Free Republic.
Thank those who open the Finest door every morning with coffee, goodies and words of wisdom.
Give thanks for all our Finest Friends.
Give thanks for Jim Robinson and FreeRepublic

Dusty Leaves
I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord," and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Psalm 32:5
|
The rubber plant I bought for my wife Dorothy added a touch of life to our home. But one morning its leaves were dropping as if in a state of dejection. I wondered what happened.
When I came home for lunch that noon, the plant was completely transformed. It looked as hearty as it did the day I got it from the store. Its leaves were extended outward once again. When I asked Dorothy about it, she told me of reading a household hint on how to keep plants looking fresh. It stated that dust accumulating on the leaves can actually prevent the light from getting to them, so it's necessary to wipe them off regularly. She had done this and the result was amazing. As we live in this world, tiny "particles" of sin can easily build up in our lives. Resentments, sharp words, impure thoughts, or selfish attitudes all take their toll on our spiritual vitality. Unless they are confessed right away, they begin to form a layer of "dust" that prevents us from experiencing the light of God's grace in our hearts. Those around us will sense that something is wrong. If the accumulation of unconfessed sin has gathered on your soul, do as David didconfess it to the Lord (Psalm 32:5). Wipe off the "dusty leaves" of your life and enjoy once again the glorious sunshine of God's love. Dennis De Haan
Before the cross of Him who died, Behold, I prostrate fall; Let every sin be brought to Him And Christ be all in all. Bridges
Confession of sin lets the light of God's forgiveness shine through.

God Bless Our Military
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Mama_Bear; Dutchess, Aquamarine; The Mayor or DollyCali and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nations leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
