Shep Smith just said he saw a Rick's Cabaret (sign) go down the street.

God does know what he is doing (LOL).

Glad to hear that they tried to get people to shelters, but it sounds like they need to fire their disaster planners.

Why weren't the city buses working, BTW?

I was just thinking that maybe in addition to an ax, a small inflatable raft in the attic might not be a bad idea either, in places that flood like this.

Look children,

Just compare the tone and content of threads I-VII to the total mess that became of Thread VIII.

You are so RIGHT, girl!

Have never been on a live thread on FR where every single post is directly related to factual evidence regarding thread topic...that would certainly curtail discussion and information flow and speculation and comradery and humor and debate, all part of the function of a discussion forum, imo.

Heard that the worst threat of overtopping from the north should be over within an hour or so. Still a danger from the west for longer, because of the wind shifting from that way, the theory of lots of Lake P water being pushed SW and S into the spillway, and the west side levee being the lowest at 10'.

Hopefully it won't overtop.

No kidding. What's with the sniping, whining, and recriminations. Why don't we try sticking to the topic at hand: News about the hurricaine.

What a tough building!

Maybe the clashing of egos in this thread comes from people wanting to be right or wrong. Which is Human nature really, people make predictions, argue about what's going to happen, and they don't like to admit when they're wrong. On that same note I know that everyone is releaved that the worst didn't happen, and that the relief far outweighs everything else. Not that NO didn't have a rough ride.

Re: "There was a submarine next to the Alabama. Any word on that or is it submerged?"

I don't know, that's why I was asking HuronMan for a source...

I visited the USS Alabama many years ago and was very impressed at how they had it in top notch shape... Every time there has been a hurricane hit Mobile Bay, I've wondered about her. I hope she is okay.

Abigail, I think those trapped people were told to evacuate. What did they expect?

Switched to Rush -- NY Times ignoring hurricane, after all its in the south (not blue states) and besides, they have a war to defeat. But saying what coverage was given in the MSM was predicting catastropic effects on people, oil, economy, etc.
