Category 4 Hurricane Katrina is approaching landfall in Eastern Louisiana. At 4:00AM EDT the storm's center was about 90 miles south of New Orleans.

I think the problem now may be with the maximum sustained winds of 120 MPH at the Superdome, it scares me that the officials are backing off calling it a 'place of shelter' and going to 'last refuge.'

Wow, I didn't realize Hugo got to that area. I was in Litchfield Beach, SC a year after Hugo and couldn't belive the damage still left over.

I remember a sign I saw that said;

HUGO THIS WAY, WE GO THAT WAY.

I was in Beaufort when Hugo came through. That was a scary night! It was my first hurricane.

The drive to Charleston after the storm looked like a big giant had gone through the forest with a mega chainsaw and cut the tops off all the trees. It was unbelievable!
