Season Finale: Rome, Episode 12, Kalends of February 9PM EST---Legio XIII Forever!
HBO ^ | 20 NOV 2005 | dcbryan1

Posted on 11/20/2005 3:52:19 PM PST by DCBryan1

As a result of their arena exploits, Pullo and Vorenus have become heroes to the Roman rank and file, causing Caesar to reward those he normally would punish. Pullo's unexpected return to Vorenus' household is not appreciated by his former slave Eirene. Caesar decides to overhaul the Senate by adding some unexpected new faces, to the chagrin of the old guard. And Servilia hurdles the final obstacle in her ambitious revenge scenario, at Niobe's expense.

Master and Commander, another great movie.

It was! Russell Crowe was terrific (and I wasn't a fan of his). Love those old wooden ships! I hope the same team makes more films based on the Patrick O'Brian books.

It is a great show. FWIW the guy who plays Anthony would have made a great James Bond, imho.

what? only 12 episodes? why? why only 2007?

Dunno, but I speculate that they spent SO MUCH on the scene/set and they were unsure of how a "swords and sandles" show would do. Remember, we have Troy, Alexander, etc...which didn't do as well as they thought it would...so HBO was skeptical....Kudos to BBC which I think have done one of the best casting jobs I have ever seen in a mini-series.

2007? Dunno why so long...ask Tony Soprano.

Being a history buff, this is the best running series (pre-WWII) show I have ever seen! ..and that includes many.

I would even put it with "I, Claudius." It might even be better than "I, Claudius."

uuggh. I don't know if I can wait till 2007.

I thought that was dumb with Titus & Erinie, wouldn't Voreanus know she was hooking up with one of his slaves? As such, Titus had every right (according to Roman Morals) to smash the slave guy's head into the wall.

Clive Owen who its reported turned it down would have been a much better Bond.

But being possessed of a great intelligence and skill in oration and writing, he was far more willing to challenge his opponents in debate or correspondence than he'd have been to kill them.

Or bribe them. /grin

***Cleopatra has cut off Antony's nads.***

if history is correct, she may have bit it off.

I tell you what, if they kill either Pullo or Vorenus, I won't watch again. Those two are wonderful.

I heard (but I'm not sure)that the actors have a contract to do 5 seasons, so they have to bring them back. Though the way they are zooming through time, by season 5 Pullo & Vorenus will be fighting off the huns & vandals (not shown on screen of course).

The episode tonight is called the Kalends of February, which implys that we may have to wait t'ill 2007 for the Ides of March and Caesar's demise.

You may not want to watch any shows about Rome. It is a real test of sensitivities.

I Claudius is one of my all time favs. I like this show a lot because it portrays the upper crust and the two soldiers's lives. Lot's of street and home life portrayed. Good stuff!
