OR,
What I think LizardQueen is saying....it that it's better to look into an empty back yard than at a
jail cell,
or a tombstone,
or a psyche ward....

All the places that kids could end up when their the parents shouldn't have had them.

It takes tremendous heartache and courage to acknowledge the kind of parent you could be.....I have more respect for those who see that as a strong chance and walk away than those who say "I have the plumbing, lets have a kid!"

Then methodically destroy them.

>>For my part, I ASSUME that this report is inaccurate to some degree.<<

LOL...given the bias of the mainstream media, assuming the article is inaccurate is my "Default Setting".

Especially when the article has anything to do with a conservative Christian.

When counseling members of my own church prior to marriage, I ask the couple whether they desire to have children. If I detect that they desire no children, that is up to them, but they can also forget my participation. I agree that there is something wrong with the mentality of people (other than those who marry very late in life) who really desire no children. I believe that that is included in the "Without natural affection" spoken of in 2 Timothy 3:3, which is indicative of the end-time ("last days") apostasy.

I expect the "no children-just sex for the fun of it" philosophy to be the selfish position of the world. But I don't have to endorse that with my ministry or my office, and I will not knowingly do so.

If the good reverend wants me to have children, he can send me the cash to cover the cost. Last time I checked, bringing a newborn to adulthood costs about $1 Million. Each.

That's one of the points. It makes one grow up and take on adult mature responsibilities that otherwise people don't.

Ergo the liberal society of perpetual adolescence.

it's a different thing if you can't have children, can't afford them because it's early on in the marriage or if one or both parties realize they are big huge screwups and shouldn't ever have children.

How about if both parties feel called to other areas of service and can't devote the time to that and to children? It's arrogant to assume that God wants the same thing of everyone, and even more arrogant to assume that a couple is somehow deficient because they've chosen not to have children. I could just as easily say that people who have children are making up for some huge hole in their lives that they can only fill by creating needy little eating machines that will take up all of their time and force them into a purpose.

I could say that, but I won't, because I am just caring and loving enough to understand that everyone has a different focus, purpose, and mission.

>> Yeah, well what would the dear man have to say if I had popped out 2 or 3 kids in the middle of my husbands 10-year drug abuse crisis? Then I would've been a selfish dumba$$. <<

Well, that's the true reason for the existence of annulments. If your husband was a drug addict, he was incapable of a spiritual marriage. Hence, you would be permitted to leave him. What's the alternative? Have sex with a drug addict and risk an unplanned pregnancy?

Most of the younger parents I know don't have children, they have small playmates.

God gave me 5 children and I've never looked back - never once considered whether I could afford them.

Yes. There is not a question of not affording or not taking care of etc...

Many people here are as liberal as the libs in their own way -- they are part of this society as well -- and they distort and make fun what is being said (which is a example of the perpetual adolescence being discussed).

That is my aunts reason for never having kids....

Thank your aunt for me. There's enough crappy parents on this planet. At least she has the foresight to know/think she would be one of them.

So we can't be mature without having kids? Seems like a non-sequitor,

He lost me when I saw he had been to CNN. I hope while he's there they don't convert him into a liberal, that's one station not welcomed in my house.

What exactly makes you think I haven't grown up, or taken on mature responsibilities? As far as I know, we've never met...

"an absolute revolt against God's design" if husbands and wives purposely avoid bearing children.
................................................

I agree wholeheartedly...especially Christian husbands and wives.

"In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." Proverb

You can have all the voluntary choices and decisions you want, but God is the author of life, and all things are subject to His perfect will and good pleasure.
