Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

Hold the line. Elect more conservatives. Appoint more conservative judges. Win the battle politically, district by district, state by state. I have faith in the American people.

I have faith in the American people, too. It's just that most Republican politicians, including the President, don't seem to be listening to us.

Thanks for the dose of optimism, though, and for all you do.

That is what I call perspective. Well said, Jim.

Passionate people, who know why they believe what they believe can lose an overall big picture. Good on you to restore some focus.

IMO, we are still fighting a rear guard action. Yes, we have had "our guys" in numerical majority in DC. But, the rot is still eating away.

What's to be done?

Lesser of two "evils" is what it comes down to. Because, we will ALWAYS be a two party nation. In the words of the old organizing song, "Which side are you on?"

No brainer.

Righteous people to me doesn't just mean those who are right with God. A righteous person is also one who see what needs to be done for the wellbeing and survival of others and then does it.

Part of the old "works versus grace" debate. But how can you know of God's grace and not do works of loving kindness out of love and gratitude to God?

How many people were aware of New Orleans' peril and did nothing? This is a truth within a truth. Part of why only 10 righteous men are enough to save a city from destruction is that they do things to improve and protect their city in addition to giving honor to God.

Now, this is all just verbal gymnastics. I do not know if New Orleans was flooded and half abandoned because of a fall from grace. But we both agree that there weren't enough people in New Orleans who did the right thing to protect their city physically from the disaster which befell them.

San Francisco is treading the same ground. It is on a major fault line, and is not a poster child for godliness. Eventually it will suffer another earthquake. Some will ascribe the event to their hubris.

But you are right. I should not be making games out of disasters. mea culpa.

Game Set and Match to Mr Robinson.

Thank you Sir, for making this place a reality, and for keeping us real.

I am against illegal immigration, but I'm not willing to right the wrong of illegal immigration if it means delaying the fight against abortion, gay marriage, and stem cell research. I'd rather get rid of those 3 first and then tackle illegal immigration.

So when Rove V. Wade is overturned (less than a decade if we're lucky) and is illegal in all the states (50 years from now if ever) then you support starting talking about illegal immigration. We'll be merged with mexico in an EU style setup because of illegal immigration by then. Good plan.

Yes, if the Lord does not bring the end sooner than deserved even the faithful will lose faith because of the horror of it.

We probably agree a great deal on theology.

But does that mean that we should not allow science in the classroom? Does that mean that we should not allow what things science is exploring and the pieces of the puzzle they have assembled to be taught? Puzzle pieces are not always fit correctly into the puzzle when they are first considered. All progress in science comes from trial and error and a gradual refining of the understanding of the discoveries made. The freedom to think about the puzzle pieces independent of political correctness or religious dogma is part of how science advances.

Should the schools teach that the Earth goes around the sun?

Should the schools teach that dinosaurs once tread the Earth?

Should the schools teach about fossils?

Should the schools teach about extinction theories?

Should the schools teach about tectonic plates and the movement of land masses around the Earth over time?

Should the schools teach astonomical information that supports a Big Band theory and an origin for the universe beginning 15 billion years ago or so?

Should the schools teach the scientific method?

Should nothing be taught in the schools except the Bible?

Or should nothing be taught in Iran except the Q'ran?

The Count Bassie Theory (the CBasonists) .I know this will really upset the Glenn Miller theorists (GLIMers).
