Roe attorney: Use abortion to 'eliminate poor'

In unearthed letter urged President-elect Clinton to 'reform' country

A letter to Bill Clinton written by the co-counsel who successfully argued the Roe v. Wade decision urged the then-president-elect to "eliminate the barely educated, unhealthy and poor segment of our country" by liberalizing abortion laws. Ron Weddington, who with his wife Sarah Weddington represented "Jane Roe," sent the four-page letter to President Clinton's transition team before Clinton took office in January 1993.

The missive turned up in an exhibit put together by the watchdog legal group Judicial Watch, which has been researching the Clinton administration's policy on the abortion drug RU-486, notes James Taranto in the Wall Street Journal's Best of the Web.

Weddington qualified his statement, saying, "No, I'm not advocating some sort of mass extinction of these unfortunate people. Crime, drugs and disease are already doing that. The problem is that their numbers are not only replaced but increased by the birth of millions of babies to people who can't afford to have babies.

"There, I've said it. It's what we all know is true, but we only whisper it, because as liberals who believe in individual rights, we view any program which might treat the disadvantaged differently as discriminatory, mean-spirited and ... well ... Republican

I understand...I was replying and speaking in the context of how the other side views it. I should have prefaced or better explained my comments in that regard.

Innocent babies should never be treated with the least bit of disrespect...that they are casually butchered by these people is the moral crisis of the last 1000 years, perhaps ever. And, before God, there is a stiff price to be paid for it, the smallest part I do not believe we have witnessed yet.

Don't worry, Felos and the Euthanasia folks have a spot for them too. Then maybe they'll see the writing on the wall.

From an analytical standpoint, it's interesting what abortion has done to the demographics. I'm not sure of the numbers, but it's around 40 million of them since Roe.

Black women get abortions at a rate about four times that of whites.

I've never seen a breakdown by political affiliation, but I'd guess abortions by Republican women make up about 5% or less of the total. Probably the majority of them come from politically non-active women.

But 40 million is huge. That's bigger than the population of all of California.

Today's political, racial, and demographic picture would look a lot different if these abortions had not been performed.

Before I'm misunderstood, I'm in no way suggesting that these abortions were a good thing. Unwanted births should be prevented before conception.

I'm commenting on the fact that abortion has greatly changed our country in ways that some people may not have considered.

Hmm...killing any people they find "inferior"...

How can we keep calling these people communists when they act so much like nazis? Maybe they're both.

Its monstrous yet true. What kind of parents do you think would kill their child?

You are really talking through your hat. This is unworthy of serious response. Grow up.

"I'd guess abortions by Republican women make up about 5% or less of the total."

That may be more "wishful thinking" than "guessing".

" The Greatest generation would have shot you traitors for it."

Are you so consumed with your hate that anyone who disagrees with you should be shot? Your protectionist, non-competitive attitude is better suited for DU.

In relation to THIS thread about ABORTION illegal immigration is an effect caused by the absence of a local employable labor pool that was the result of killing 45 million babies.

If you want to rant about how hard life has been and unfair to you go to DU, that's all they do. If you want to have a discussion about how restricting or eliminating abortion in this country would solve a lot of problems and heal us spiritually lets talk.

I'm not buying that a moderately cogent person with any scruples and legal training would plant such a bomb under his own arse.

How is this going to hurt *him*, sometimes someone might be smart enough to be a lawyer and evil enough not to see what they are saying is horrifying.. Mao was a college student..

Im not taking one side or the other but:

Considering the current unemployment rate

Its not possible to know how many people are working by the unemployment rate the rate is for people collecting benefits not people who have expired benefits are are no longer even trying to find a job

They are also spending a lot of money - cars, houses, etc.

With record debt and decreasing savings rates in the US most of the houses, cars, etc. are not being bought with cash but credit. Spending plastic does not mean a healthy economy.

He would say he revoked the gag rule of Reagan and Bush on abortion counseling; He permitted abortion in the military; started the Mexico City policy re: abortion and started the gateway entry of RU-486.

This is old news; the eugenics movement has a long history in this country, JimRob. We are simply seeing the "new front."

Jim,

I hear ya Abortion is the *only* thing that even keeps me thinking republican (though sometimes I will just vote for a different pro life candidate for other reasons)

With a republican controlled house, senate, whitehouse, and a court appointed mostly by republicans the fact abortion is an issue getting only political lip service in this election year makes me wonder if they (the republicans) do want to fix it and see it go away as an issue..

One more election cycle, I am rapidly losing patients..

Planned Parenthood is the brood sow of the baby killing industry and one of the biggest supporters of child molesters in the nation.

You're ignoring the affect of capital punishment

Between 1965 and 1990 murder skyrocketed in the US during this time abortion was legalized the steady decline began only after capital punishment was reinstated..

Planned Parenthood was founded for the specific purpose of exterminating blacks and other so-called inferior races. 40% of Planned Parenthood baby killings in the US are to this day of blacks. The liberals worship Margaret Sanger, but she was a vile racist.

Not too far from the truth!
