"The threat findings of the Nunn-Lugar-Domenici in 1995 included the threat that state sponsors of terrorism (a desgination the State Department applied to Iraq during the entire Clinton administration) could hand over WMD to terrorist organizations or support them in other ways with plausible deniability. In other words, Iraq and al Qaeda were not going to take out a full-page ad in the New York Times to announce their relationship. That relationship needs to be ferreted out. Myrolie's book offers an excellent beginning in the effort to establish the relationship."

From her book: Study of Revenge (Hardcover) by Laurie Mylroie "The World Trade Center bombing had its immediate origins in the fulminations of a radical Islamic Egyptian immigrant, El Sayyid Nosair..."

Some refer to the author as being a Neocon making the argument to go to war, actually it is more proof with documentation that the reasons were valid ones.

I don't understand the DOD response at all. If the Whitehouse or DOD buries this story, Bush's numbers will go down with his base(people like me) again. I don't understand why the WH does not fight back on this issue?!

So many of us are asking the same question. I would hope both the DOD and White House press briefings are hit hard with this today.

Rush is in today, gone tomorrow and Monday, I believe. Hannity will be off too, though I'm not sure of the dates. Finally, Mark Levin is gone today through Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

Thanks for clarification on when Rush will be in (and thanks to the other person, too). That's good news! I'll be tuned in.

I really can't believe Tony Snow will let Bush just ignore this. Tony has made a difference. The anonymous part makes me wonder more than what they've said.
Although the McInerney statement makes sense. I heard him on H&C. I can definitely see Bush showing discretion re: those 3 countries.

My conclusion after reading the Defense Department statement is that this story is not going anywhere; the Defense spokesman essentially pulled the rug out from whatever traction the story had. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot... Grrrr

Whomever he was that talked to the Fox producer, he was not talking on the record. Let's wait until Rummy chimes in. Also note that the guy said that was not way we went into Iraq, not for these WMD. But he didn't vote for any resolutions himself, so how does he know why the resolutions were passed? My guess is that he is in DI and DI is full of Democrats and is in the same state of denial the rest of the Democrats are in right now.

I heard a Tim something or other also on H&C last night, who said the mustard gas would likely be unusable because it would clog the devices, however the sarin would remain highly dangerous and indeed would have to admit "Iraq had WMD". Democrats are wrong.
That's was this guy said who was not a pol but an analyst or something. (wrote some book)

(They're not saying yet on TV that the chemical in these shells is degraded.)

These shells appear to be just like the one used in an IED a few years ago, that shell was a binary sarin shell. If these are binary shells, (and they very likely are), the chemicals are stored separately until use therefore, (in the case of sarin), the final product is as deadly as it can ever be.

We need to find out if these are binary shells, and if they are the public needs to know it as it utterly destroys the argument the sarin is old and ineffective. Do the math on 2-5 liters of sarin components times 500+ shells! Anyone who doesn't think this is significant is a doorknob!

Chemicals degrade slowly over time.

if they are in binary shells they don't, see post 450

Dont' know if anyone responded but see post 450 and this link;

Binary sarin shells do not degrade and couls have been fired well within a 45 minute time frame.

How about that, two asinine arguments utterly destroyed!

Unfortunately, it seems this story is fast fading from the headlines. The lying libs have managed to squash the truth. Alan Colmes was sickening last night as well as that dope Imus and his friend Jim Mik-whatever.
Liberals need to account for their lies.

The Bush Administration has not stepped in and used the "bully pulpit" to fight for this story. Add to it that the blogosphere has not latched onto this story with the "bulldog" demeanor they have become famous for in recent years.

It could be that there just isn't enough declassified information available to run anything stronger with. If that is the case, Santorum may have been "whispering" in the wind.

Something to consider is that it's not in the Administration's intrest (from the standpoint of security) to admit that any exist until they're ALL found.

Think of what would have happen if they had pushed the story about WMDs being found while they were still finding them. Had the terrorists gone after them too (and used them against Americans) we'd have seen a 911-scale firestorm.

Much better to take your time, allow the libs to push the "Bush Lied" story, round everything up, then set the story straight.

I hope that's what we're finally seeing today.

Colmes proved once again he is worthy only of contempt - he was not interested in learning anything, not interested in whether the 500+ chem weapons are still dangerous, not interested in the obvious FACT that this proves yet again the widespread and systematic deceptions of Saddam's regime, etc. etc. All that Colmes cared about was to try to quash the story quickly, as he is the butt-boy for the DNC.

My biggest concern is that they have noted these weapons are pre-1991, and that the poisons within are so degraded as to be pretty much useless (that's a good thing, right?).

The libs will therefore declare that these are old WMD and of no value becuase their application is worthless. How long does it take for these poisons to degrade when stored in an acceptable environment vs being stored in a less hospitable environment? And how is it known these are pre-1991? I know I shouldn't trust the media, but they're trumpeting these "facts".

Since the libs , MSM and the Times will not mention or give credence to this, few will see it besides the people like us who are political junkies. Rick is in such trouble in Pa. that the Left will even use this appearance against him. I cannot fathom how Pa. could love Bob Casey. My guess is they remember his father and think he is still alive!!!
