Richard Clarke, former presidential adviser on counter-terrorism and author of a book in 2004 that blasted the Bush and Clinton administrations for their handling of the war on terror, asserted Thursday that "We are no more secure than we were five years ago."

Clarke gained national attention two years ago, not only for the book titled "Against All Enemies," but also for his testimony before the 9/11 Commission investigating the worst terrorist attacks in U.S. history.

Thursday, he was in Washington promoting a task force report titled "The Forgotten Homeland." Clarke co-chaired the task force, which was sponsored by The Century Foundation think tank. The report issues 128 recommendations, including the removal of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) from the authority of the Department of Homeland Security.

Now this career bureaucrat is not just a counterterrorism "expert" but he is a "disaster preparedness expert" too? Give me a friggin' break. As someone who dealt personally with FEMA personnel in the immediate aftermath of Katrina and for months thereafter, I refuse to subscribe to the notion that just removing FEMA from DHS would fix the agency. Nor do I believe the common assertion that FEMA was the epitome of responsiveness and efficiency before it became part of DHS. The fact is, Katrina was unprecedented in so many ways. After dealing with the numerous arrogant, sullen and cynical FEMA personnel over a period of months, I am not willing to drink that Kool Aid...

And yet, no other attack on American soil in that time, Mr. Clark?

LOL! Clarke is such a tool.

He is without a doubt the biggest political whore (masquarading as "expert") to come out of DC in decades.

Still bitter you didn't get the Homeland Security gig eh loser??

And for any who have forgotten that this guy is a pathological liar, recall his book where he claimed Bush didn't care about terrorism prior to 9-11 and had no plan to take on Al Qaeda. Then read what he said in the interview at this link: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,115085,00.html

I wouldn't watch it. Lamest fight ever. Nobody would even get hurt, and they would both claim that they won. Feh.

Richard Clarke is a moron. On 9/11 we had approx 3000 die in a terrorist attack. Today we had zero terrorist caused deaths. Ray Charles could see he is wrong and Ray Charles is blind and has been dead for about 2 years.

I wished the right would hammer the left when they make this moronic claim. The left would rather see the USA destroyed than have a republican be correct.

Oh sure, no safer at all. This is the same moron who predicted a massive cyberspace attack on the U.S. that would cripple our computer/telecommunications infrastructure.

That Nancy-boy needs a big cup of STFU.

Dims. always trot this perennial liar out just before an election. He's been farting the same song since 2004, "we're no safer now!" Yet 2 years later no further attacks on US soil and Bin Laden is afraid to even show his face. If we're not safer, it's only because the New York Slimes and Washington Compost keep giving away all our secrets about how we fight these people.

Groan!
Not this idiot again.
I thought the old saying was : "Hell hath no fury like a scorned woman".

Now after listenimng to this constant rabid nonsense from Richard Clarke, I think we outta change that to :

"Hell hath no fury like a scorned government official, denied a position he's been lusting after.

Time for this nutcase to move on. Growing flowers is very good for one's temper, I hear.

Clarke's the official rat spokesman...whenever they need someone to talk like they know from experience, they make sure he hits the rounds.
Now the fact that he lies like a cheap rug only makes it more appealing to the dummies.

Is Ramsey Clarke still one of Saddam's defense attorneys, or did he bail when he found out it might be dangerous? How is it that this man is not in jail?
