He's an idiot. This would have been over in 12 hours if he didn't stop the military from running their battle plan. Everyone is saying the Hezzies prepped the battlefield. Israel knew this and knew what to do to take out Hezzie leadership before escalation.

Olmert gave the Hezzies the room to run to ground and begin the war on their terms. The man is not a leader or military person. He is a lawyer playing politics with a nation that must win every battle everytime just to survive.

I don't know enough about the man but I do know there is a lot of second guessing right about now.

There's nothing to suggest I said you supported Olmert, either.

I think this is either all some kind of deep game in which we and Olmert played off against each other to buy time for some reason, even though it looks like militarily it needed to be quick, or else Olmert was the problem.

I think our part was always to give Israel diplo cover for smashing Hezbollah but I can't "figger" as Rush would say exactly what Olmert was doing or why. If he had a good reason for it, we were probably helping him. If he was just being an indecisive weenie, we were probably pulling our hair out.

The Israeli military was going to take out the Hezzie leadership in the couple of hours of the conflict.

Word I had was that the IDF's battle plan was neutered by politics, on Olmert's order, and that had they been allowed a free hand, this war would have been over already.

I heard an interview on the radio with a Israeli reporter. He claimed no body liked Olmert and his conduct of this war. He has 2 sons and neither have served in the Israeli military which is required of all citizens. One son is in NYC and is actively campaigning against the war and the other is in Paris.

If Olmert had allowed the military to execute their original plan on day one it would be over by now and Hezbollah would be no more.
