It's getting to the point where the conservative - dominant - wing of the Republican Party needs to take out a want ad in the newspaper or post a listing on Craigslist.com to find a candidate for president. In the field taking shape before our eyes, none of the top four contenders is likely to satisfy their delicate palates - made more arrogant and discerning by decades of victories.

I'll give him a chance, just not McCain and Giuliani. But Buchanan said tonight (take it for what it's worth) that some stuff from the 90's will come back to haunt him. I guess he was pretty liberal. I'll wait to hear what he has to say.
He's the biggest cootie I ever saw.
What about JC Watts?
Tancredo/Hunter
And delusional, apparently.
I'm so disgusted. Today, Rush told how the "repukes" are lining up to support democrats and their first 100 hours of legislation. With the same old leadership in place nothing will change except for the worst.
Welcome to FR.

Sorry - I missed it, er, obviously. I'll be more diligent.
"Of course, some conservatives may support 3rd party candidate who gets 6% of votes thereby helping Hillary to win. If they are happy with that, so be it."
A couple of prominent 3rd party candidates often discussed on FR were Pat Buchanan (0.5%) and Harry Browne.
They both wound up opposing most of the War on Terror, turned out to Blame America First.
But they got a lot of coverage on FR, where so called principles trump pragmatism.
no problemo...just thought I'd give you a heads up before one of the self appointed "room monitors" give you a nasty reprimand. LOL
Sessions hasn't made any noise about running. Hunter has announced. Sessions was great in the last session of the senate on the immigration bill, but Hunters 20plus year record on immigration and border control hasn't been beaten by anything I've seen.
Check it out.

Congressman Duncan Hunter's Efforts to Secure the U.S. Border
December 15, 2005: Congressman Hunter successfully adds an amendment to H.R. 4437, the Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Alien Control Act of 2005, mandating that 698 miles of border fencing be erected in five strategic locations along our nation's Southern border with Mexico. The Hunter Amendment passed the House by a vote of 260-159.
October 6, 2005: House passes H.R. 2360, the FY 2006 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, which appropriates $35 million for completion of the San Diego Border Fence.
September, 14, 2005: Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff announces that he will exercise the authority granted to him under the REAL ID Act and require the completion of the San Diego Border Fence.
(snip)
May 12, 1999: The Clinton-Gore Administration revealed that, despite a congressional mandate and the funding to hire 1,000 additional Border Patrol agents for fiscal year 1999, only 200 will actually be hired. Congressman Hunter is joined by Reps. Silvestre Reyes (D-TX), Henry Bonilla (R-TX) and Lamar Smith (R-TX) as well as Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) and Phil Gramm (R-TX) at a news conference to announce they will send a letter to the President. Click here to read the press release. Of the 1,000 agents that were supposed to be deployed, 78 were to be stationed at the El Centro Sector of Imperial County --- now the sector may not receive any. The administration does not plan to deploy new agents in San Diego County.
The letter, signed by more than 50 Democrat and Republican Members of Congress, expressed "deep disappointment at the continuing lack of compliance with the congressional mandate to increase the Border Patrol by 1,000 agents per year. Meanwhile, cross-border drug smuggling and alien smuggling continue to cost uncounted lives and damages each year, and terrorists may enter the United States at any time. Additional Border Patrol agents are needed to achieve control in California and Texas, to stop the emerging crisis in Arizona and New Mexico, to combat smuggling along the Florida and Gulf coasts, and to shore up the severely undermanned northern border from New England and New York through the Midwest to Washington state. All this territory is presently covered by only 8,000 Border Patrol agents, a force less than half the size of the Chicago Police Department. "Experts within your own administration, such as drug czar Barry McCaffrey, and in academia estimate that at least 20,000 Border Patrol agents are needed to control drug smuggling, alien smuggling, and terrorism. Yet there is no indication that your border strategy recognizes the emergency situation caused by low Border Patrol recruitment and high attrition or is animated by any sense of urgency. The past three months have seen significant deterioration, not improvement, in border security."
February 17, 1999: Despite record apprehension levels and many months of Congressman Hunter calling for hundreds of new Border Patrol agents for Imperial County, the INS announces it will only send 78 agents to the area. There are now approximately 400 Border Patrol agents in Imperial County. As Congressman Hunter has stressed to the INS, the County is second in total apprehensions of illegal immigrants but second to last in border enforcement resources. September 28, 1998: Funding for Fiscal Year 1999 national defense programs gained final House approval. A measure in the bill will add $3 million for the National Guard's continued construction of the border fence and roads in eastern San Diego County. CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE
:) I can do nasty, too, when things get unreasonable, but I don't go looking for it, LOL.
BTW, I'm curious why we haven't seen names like:
Gen Tommy Franks
Gen Russel Honore ("Stuck on stupid")
LTC Erik Kurilla (Deuce Four)
They can "stand inpsection", methinks...
The way things are shaping is so maddening. Historically I've never remotely had a problem with the ultimate Republican nominee, since I started voting, more than two decades ago. They've always met my political requirements, and I've fully supported them, each and every time (never was swayed by Perot, Buchanan, etc.). I don't expect to agree 100% all the time with the Rep nominee, of course, but I always have had a few trip-wires. Things I really never expected a potential Republican presidential candidate 'not' to share.
A tiny handful of requirements, such as being pro- death penalty, being a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendmendment, and have an apparently decent family life. Those have always been imperatives. To this I've recently added the strong necessity of being anti-amnesty and enforcing our borders. I've been horrified beyond belief at Bush on this matter, propelling it into a completely predominant and non-negotiable issue for me.
If the Republican nominee doesn't meet these requirements, I'm not going to vote for him. That's a promise. And, it will be the first time in my life the Republican won't get my support. As things are shaping up now, with the current frontrunners, things are looking rather alarming, and I can't deny I'm rather aghast and flummoxed by it all. Like I said, I've always voted exclusively for Republicans in each and every election, big and small, and the prospect that the next nominee to come down the pike will be entirely unacceptable to me just leaves me dumbfounded.
Already know his position on the 2nd amendment.
FR is irrelevent for the 08 election cycle; itll be a litany of whining about the lack of true believers running.
You have got to be kidding! He's written three books in a row debunking Hillary! She wrote "Living History" he wrote "Re-writing History" to correct the many lies in the book. He then wrote a book about the need for Condi to run to counter Hillary. He then wrote a book that was all lies, rude comments and ugly slurs from Hillary called "I've always been a Yankees Fan" that has a picture of her in a Cubs hat on the cover.
There are a lot of things to dislike about Morris, but one thing you can say for sure. He HATES Hillary. Not sure why, where or when it developed, but it's a strong hatred.
Face it. It is an uphill struggle for whoever the "R" is in 08. Especially if Iraq remains unfinished.
As for Hunter or Huckabee they may be unknown now but surely would not be if they manage to win the Republican nomination. Kerry was very well known. Gore was V.P. Didn't help them.
Bill Clinton had the same job that unknown Huckabee has today: Gov. of Arkansas. Seemed to be no impediment to him winning the nomination and presidency twice.
Why is this, then, an impossible position for Huckabee?
I probably agree that Duncan Hunter won't win the nomination. No Representative has since before WWII.
Ummmm......Morris is married to Eileen Morgan, the co-author of this and other articles. Mary M. is married to Carvell (sp)?
Oops, Eileen McGahn (don't know what I was typing!)
