Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

The tone of the debate and the attacks on long-time fellow Freepers for the cardinal sin of daring to support Rudy Giuliani in early 2007 around here have really saddened me. Instead of fighting the enemy FR is now imposing an 'ideological purity' test on FR members. The well-oiled train has gone off the rails and Mr. Robinson risks becoming the next Joe Farah - a fellow who started a great website for conservative news and opinions, but who gradually drifted off to la-la land, losing all credibility - and readership - in the process.

He has set himself squarely in the Internet media spotlight, doused himself with gasoline, and and lighted himself on fire - a fact that has not escaped the attention of the left-wing lunatics at Daily Kos. Their reporting on what has been going on at FR is perhaps the first factually true account published on their site.

Jim, if that quote of yours about setting up an organization to 'Swiftboat Rudy' is accurate as quoted in their article, the only thing I have to say to you is that you ought to be ashamed of yourself, as you have now become the back-stabber of the conservative cause.

If you wish to marginalize this site by turning it into a narrow "several-issue" forum, that is your right. Just as it is my right to choose to not participate here any longer.

But you will be disappointed if you think that the crude, illiterate "goon squad" you have allowed free rein around here (dmw, narses, dirtboy, extremely extreme extremist, ReaganMan and several others - if I have FORGOTTEN anyone, SO SORRY) will elevate the level of intellectual debate.

The result has been predictably in the other direction. That is what happens when you hire a bunch of brown shirts to enforce your own brand of political correctness.

Well, guess what? Politics is 99% BS and one can quite nicely live one's life without the need to bloviate about it. I know how I am going to vote. I could care less about anyone else. Life is too short to waste my time around here when I am clearly one of those made to feel like they are not welcome.

Something that has always sorta bugged me is that a true professional moderator wouldn't allow themselves to enter the mix, or allow themselves to make stupid comments in a heated thread. Just my thoughts on Moderating.

You just don’t have the self control to stay away on your own.

Neither do the other members who have intentionally crossed the line to have their accounts banned.

If you don’t agree with this site, it doesn’t require being banned to stay away. You could just go away and never come back. But you people don’t want that. You want to be able to say “they closed my account because I didn’t agree with them!”, so you do whatever you can to make that happne.

All of those guys were facing really high stakes, much higher in actual risk than we do on a day-to-day basis. It wasn’t an intellectual game or a maybe, but a good chance at a hanging.

But they gave us something precious.

Not every person feels that pull. You have to go with your own ability to stand up for it. But understand, America as founded means more to a lot of us than protection against the potential attack of the jihadis. It means a dream of liberty and life, and if we compromise that too far, we will no longer be America. We will be America’s ghost.

I visited Mosco and Boise, (plus Tacoma WA, where I heard the same thing), and talked to REPUBLICANS in both cities, and was constantly told how rapidly things are deteriorating for conservatives there. There was real concern that Idaho would even be red in 10 years.

It wouldn’t be one. It would be the first of many that would dwarf anything NARAL ever dreamed of.

30 million abortion since Roe. So abortion is a far bigger issue than the WOT regarding American fatalities.

Time to really get your head out of the sand on this.

Like I said, we have plenty of GOP candidates who are solid on both issues. Rudy is solid on neither. He has a 100 percent NARAL rating. And pushed a corrupt crony for the most important anti-terror job in the country.

Moreover, the likelihood of an AQ attack in such a way that I, with my shotgun, can affect the outcome is just silly. The next attack won't leave any room for guns. It will be big.

You are far more likely to face a criminal attack than a terrorist attack. On 9/11, 3000 people died in a nation of nearly 300,000,000; a tragedy to be sure, but a tiny fraction of our population. Far more people were affected by ordinary street crime that year, and every year since, than were affected by terrorism. Criminals, not terrorists, are the greater threat to your life.

Giuliani has proven track record of opposing gun rights. His record on combating terrorism is nothing more than vapor-ware. In light of that fact, odds are that his record on guns will get you killed long before his record on terrorism will save you.
