If this was a deliberate strategery on the part of 2A defenders, it was very wise and prescient. If not, the growth in CCW was a very fortunate accident of history. I may have come alone just in time to save the 2A from the same fate as befell the 9th and 10th Amendments.
I’ve been thinking about getting one now that we are settled here in R/C
I’ve heard that story also. Isleton is 275 miles north of me in Sacramento County.
Where is R/C?
How the Liberals lost the gun control argument, all their lies now fall on deaf ears, except the hold out states. Got to get to work there.
Congratulations to Jeb Bush for sticking with the NRA and getting it done. Floriduh at least got this right, led the way, does it make up for the 2000 election???
I still remember the last gasp recently in Florida when the Brady bunch tried to mount a campaign to stop British tourists from coming to the wild west. They came anyway ^_^
For some people I know, 9/11 spurred them on to get their CCW, and this decision is reinforced by every attack here in the US that hints at being jihadist in nature.
LIke Baghdad Bob shouting “lies, all lies!”, the louder the authorities assure us that some attacks don’t have “any connection” with “terrorism”, the plainer it is that some of these attacks were carried out by jihadist-wannabes.
Life is just not as simple, nor as risk free as it used to be. Scripture carries the warning: he who has an ear, let him hear. The Boy Scouts say: be prepared.
The Left says both are voices that we don’t want to hear. Lalalalalalala, I can’t hear your warning. The left, worries about drowning in a warm rising ocean and laughs at people who take prudent precautions for risks that are real and contemporary, not theoretical and far in the future. Who is wise and who may die stupid?
In California, by law you may carry an unconceiled weapon, but, for all practical purposes, it may not be loaded. Of course, you will be relieved of your unloaded, unconceiled weapon and, for a period, your freedom when confronted by an LEO for doing so.
I am in Florida. I was convicted of a felony 45 years ago, when I was 19-years-old. I was granted a full and complete, unconditional pardon 35 years ago, but it would still require a great deal of red tape and bother for me to have even a hope of getting a concealed weapon permit.
Two words - OPEN CARRY. It really ought to be the law of the land based on the 2nd Amendment (at a minimum). Personally, I think concealed carry is better, since the bad guys will hide guns anyway. Better not to let them know who’s packing.
Understood. I grew up in Fresno County and its the same.
Well, I wouldn’t say that its precisely wishful thinking since 2/3s of Americans can now actually enjoy their 2nd Amendment Rights. I am quite sensitive to your comment since I live behinde “enemy lines” myself. It is encouraging to see the progress, and now lets go finish the job.
That’s right. Kern county is what contains Bakersfield.
i don’t really want to live in the republic of daley but considering a move. was thinking about wis or utah, but money is the problem since i have retired.
Ridgecrest. The high tech portion of Kern County which the Bakersfield Bubbas love to ignore and underfund.
Another twist on your question - would you turn down a job in a non-”shall-issue” state? I would.
Yes I would. I refuse to live in states where the residents allow trampling of the constitution. I once turned down a job in Taxachussetts because I refuse to live in the same state as the swimmer and those who re-elect murderers.
Sorry for seeming so callous in my previous post.
And just north of Kern County is Inyo County with a population of around 18,000 and is also a "shall issue" county. We also have a lot of hunters here with rifles and shotguns carried in rifle racks in pickups and an extremely low crime rate.
Gotta love the Valley. Was born and raised in the Peoples Republic (Santa Cruz-Akkk!) but escaped 24 years ago, LOL!
