Former Senator Fred Thompson came to Houston to attend a fundraiser as he considers throwing his hat into the ring for the 2008 presidential primaries. A small rally was held at the airport for his arrival, and FairTax supporters were out in some force.
FairTax.org is determined to put the FairTax on the national agenda during this election cycle, and to that end, supporters are asking each candidate and potential candidate "The Question": "If Congress passed the FairTax Act and you were President, would you sign the bill into law?" Despite an enormous amount of jostling from the crowd and media people, we were able to get his answer on videotape. Click here to watch the video.

Fair Tax ping!
That’s a very good sign. Now if he’ll state his opposition to globalism, specifically the SPP and the North American Union, I’ll support him.
I hope he does whats best for us all and joins the race, however at a reasonable time before the elections and not too early as the rest have.
Picky....Picky....Picky!
One step at a time in the right direction is a good thing. : )
I agree. Will he oppose the SPP, N American Union, and other Globalist nonsense?
With his CFR background, I dont know
I just want to know what he really believes, not what he thinks I want to hear.
The head chef at Benihana's ?
Yup... so far, Hunter is the only one I've seen even talking about it. Thompson has a lot of 'fleshing-out' to do... if/when he announces.
I am not enthused about this.
Fair tax is not the way to go....
FLAT TAX is....17% income tax...everyone, no loopholes.
I just want to know what you really believe, not what you think I want to read.
Flat income tax does not capture tax revenues from those who do not report income or produces. Not everyone produces, yet everyone consumes. Fair Tax is a consumption tax, capturing EVERYONE into the tax code.
That too?
A well rounded man he is. : )
Anyone who supports yet another income tax just hasn't wrapped their mind around the sheer government intrusiveness of an income tax. As long as we have ANY income tax we are in danger of returning to just where we are now, or worse.
We need to end the governments fasination with what we earn, they have no business knowing what we make, or telling us how much money we can carry around with us, or making us pay a fee on what we earn. We need to repeal the income tax amendment(#16)and initiate tariffs or the fair tax or it's equivalent, it is the only viable solution. Flat tax is simply another income tax with all it's inherent supressions and sapping of freedom.
Sadly enough THAT is a rate that would generate a celebration of achievement in reduction!
Only if it weren't allowed to be augmented by surcharges to take up the slack via other labels such as "surcharges" and "users fee's".
Yeah, Yeah, Absolutely, Good to see you ???
THAT IS NO ANSWER !!
Goodness me.... He could claim later he was talking to someone else in the crowd. Until he says in Plain English AND in his Printed Direct Mail “I SUPPORT THE FAIR TAX”.
Yer Dreaming or Projecting hopes.
Besides, Bush said the same thing and was Governor of the 9th Largest Economy in the world which is funded BY a Sales Tax and NO Income Tax and he hasn’t done JACK about it.
Fred didn’t even KNOW what this was last week and today we get this 2 second quip?
Romney is more convincing IMHO !
Oh and just in case anyone didn’t get that last line...
/sarc/
= )
ping to watch video later
That sounds a lot like Nick Danger...
