O'Reilly Factor Provides Free Republic Offending Comments Links

Edited on 08/01/2007 4:30:51 PM PDT by Admin Moderator. [history]

I received an e-mail today from the Fox News producer who booked me for the O'Reilly Factor last night. The links have been forwarded to Jim Robinson for review.

Jim asked me to start a thread with the links so that Freepers, and everyone else, could see for themselves what the fuss is about.

The Hillary Clinton stray bullet assassination comment was a very bad joke comment that someone posted two days ago. It was flagged last night after the O'Reilly Factor broadcast and was removed by a moderator. It is available for the time being in Google cache:

To: Virginia Ridgerunner I like my scenario better:

After eight years of the economy faltering, interest rates are 19%, 900,000 people are dead in Iraq since we left, taxes have gone up by 60% and Chile, Bolivia and Columbia are now Communist regimes, a stray bullet at a NARAL rally catches President Clinton and kills her.

As they take away Cindy Sheehan she screams why did she have to remove the troops? We were winning.

The next day the dow goes up 2000 points and closes at 2150.

Don't even bother trying to defend that one. Assassination jokes have no place on Free Republic. Yes, Cindy Sheehan has written of her fantasizies about killing President Bush--and she's not joking, but that's her problem. We're better than that.

The "homosexuals are dogs" comment is taken out of context. The actual quote is "Homosexuals are the modern day dogs in the manger." That was in reference to an article about proprieters in the U.K. not being allowed to deny hotel accomodations to homosexual couples on account of religious belief.

The American Heritage online dictionary gives this description for the phrase: dog in the manger, NOUN: Inflected forms: pl. dogs in the manger. One who prevents others from enjoying what one has no use for oneself. ETYMOLOGY: From a fable in which a dog prevented an ox from eating hay he did not want himself.

That comment was posted two days ago and has also been removed by the moderators. It is available for now in Google cache.

The "I hate blacks" comment was nowhere to be found in the other threads referenced.

The threads are about crime in the black community, gangsta culture and Jesse Jackson. Two of the threads are in the Smoky Backroom.

Oh please. Stray bullets are pretty rare, especially around a president.

I’m not sure I would go that far, but it was definitely in very poor taste. It definitely crossed the line.

For BOR’s minions to scour the millions of FR posts to come up with those examples and him to portray them as typical of FR says much more about who BOR is and what he’s about than it does about FR.
***Worth repeating.

THANK YOU, Kristinn. Your service to FR and our country and to us posters is priceless.

By the way, I saw the original dog in the manger comment and saw absolutely nothing wrong with it. O’Reilly is grasping at straws. Ooops! He’ll probably now say that I accused him of stealing from McDonalds.

Given the volume of traffic here, is that all he could pull out? Lame doesn’t even begin to describe it.

I think BOR is upset over being called out on FR for his ‘lesbian-gangs-raping-young-girls’ story that was proven false.

I can safely say that after 10 years of being a member of FRee Republic I would not hesitate to recommend it to my black friends. In fact, one sent ME an FR post several years ago about the USS Ronald Reagan, without knowing I was a member.

And that is not one of those 'my best friends are black' statements.

And for the record, BOR is a big egotistical gasbag on many things. His only advantage is that he is better than the alternative. Glenn Beck comes on an hour later, and is FAR better than BORF.

Thanks for your work, I always envy you living so close to DC and not. ;-D

I've seldom been on a thread where anyone who gets bashed but I have run across various anti gay comment in the past. Never saw one bashing blacks.

The trolls at Kos whined we are a hate site and I believe provided these links to Fox, you got ambushed.

I can tell you one thing, I can read posts for hours (I think I’m addicted) here on FR, but I can’t listen to O’Reilly for a complete show without him saying something I think is crass, and I turn him off.

In my years here I think our fellow Freepers do an outstanding job of rebuking posters who get out of line.

Did Bore O’Reilly comment about all the times when our political opponents suffer personal tragedy we offer prayers and hopes to those families despite our differences.

Unlike the lefties who offer heaping vulgarity when a Conservative suffers personal tragedy.

Why remove it? If it’s taken out of context, that says it all about Bill O’Reilly’s standards.

I agree. I don't know if you can un-remove a post, but just on principle a comment taken out of context like that shoudn't be removed.

Thanks for standing up for FR. As we all know, Bill O’Reilly can be a first class pinhead. But all FReepers need to keep a sharp eye open for serious abuses.

As you say, we are not a politically correct forum. OTOH, 99.99% of all posts on FR do not contain the graphic rhetoric O’Reilly spoke of last night.

“I didn’t catch this. Hopefully Bill did an equal segment on the kind of comments that show up at DU an KOS. Right?”

I watched....Kos was mentioned. Not one comment was made regarding DU. A rep from Kos was there, and Kristinn did a great job for Free Republic....when BOR let him talk.

This is a crock. That is no assassination wish, it is a satire.

Where is the "I hate blacks" post????

The meaning of the "homosexuals are dogs" was twisted out of context.

O'Reilly blew it bigtime, and has enraged a heckuva lot of former viewers of his show. Big mistake.
