Steel Firm Owner Jailed - Illegal Aliens Had Bogus SS Numbers
The Sun Herald ^ | Aug.4, '07 | Michael Newsom

Posted on 08/07/2007 2:16:46 PM PDT by T.L.Sink

The owner of Tarrasco Steel, a company that supplied workers on the Biloxi Bay Bridge, was arrested and charged with hiring illegals on projects in three states. Some had improper welding certification. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Jose Gonzalez. Tarrasco Steel was hired as a subcontractor for rebar installation services to major projects in Mississipi, Louisiana, and Tennessee. The federal government considers those bridges as critical infrastructure, and they were part of routine inspections of facilities that if damaged could pose a threat to national security and public safety. "There is a serious public safety concern when illegal aliens, who are not authorized to work in the country legally, and who do not possess valid welding certifications, are employed in the construction of bridges in our communities," said Micheal Holt, special agent in charge of the Customs Office of Investigations. Several federal agencies confirmed the majority of Tarrasco Steel employees were using bogus Social Security numbers. They allege Gonzalez falsified information on the I-9 Employee Eligibility forms. Investigators learned that workers had inappropriate welding certifications.

I caught the last hour of Rush today and he cited this report. Not only are these illegal aliens unauthorized to work legally in the United States but they are doing so with fraudulent Social Security numbers. Perhaps even worse, their welding certifications and job qualifications are faked as well. And we wonder why it's hard to maintain our collapsing infrastructure?

What a joke. Verizon is running their fiber optics cables in my NJ neighborhood and everyone is asking why all the Verizon workers happen to be Mexicans. Hey, of course, Americans won’t do work for the biggest corporate entities on earth. We don’t need those 12 million jobs. No one else would apply.

I hope that each of the crimaliens gets five year for social security fraud and that Gonzalez gets five years on each of twenty-nine counts to be served consecutively.

Mostly the Mexicans are used for the physical, outside from the street to the house install. A more skilled type generally finishes the job inside.

It’s the same thing going on everywhere. Verizon subcontracts out the outside work, and the subcontractors are the ones hiring the Mexicans. Just like the landscapers, the construction folks, and so on.

When I had my FIOS installed, the Mexicans brought the fiber to the house, and a genuine American brought it inside and finished the hookup in the house and on the street.

Call me cynical,if Tarrasco Steel were constructing, lets say warehouses, and were hiring illegals on projects in three states, and some had improper welding certification, would ICE give a rats ass?

I guess they might, if a warehouse caved in.

Our COUNTY sewer project in my neighborhood was all Mexicans down to the foreman (the only guy who could speak English). I have no idea how that happened in Atlanta of all places where cushy county jobs are a birth rite.

Pissed me off especially when the wives of the workers came by every day to bring them lunch with the kids in tow in their brand new Expeditions, Tahoes, Suburbans etc.

When City Hall Philadelphia had a small fire and the sprinklers caused water damage, all the workers with the environmental clean up company were Mexicans. I guess environmental clean up is another lettuce picking type job Americans won't do.

BTW it's possible that some Mexican workers are legal or second generation, but when you have millions of illegals it creates a negative assumption.

The current law has made the social security numbers a joke among the illegals down here in south Texas. I prepare quarterly reports for a local tree cutting service.

The law says the employer can ask for the ss number but cannot demand to see the card. We file the reports to the IRS and Texas Workforce Commission every three months reporting names, ss numbers and quarterly salaries. About 3 or 4 months later we get a notice from the IRS with a lest of the names and numbers stating that most of the numbers don't seem to match the names .

It's a one page list but the notice is usually 10 or more pages long telling us what the employer can and cannot request to see from the person with the ss number that does not match. All of the names are, of course, hispanic but the IRS goes so far as to assume that the employer may have made a clerical error in reporting.

The employer calls a man in who can speak a little english and asks him to tell the men that they need to give him their ss numbers again. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that it's a combination of 9 numbers. The illegals have a little meeting out in the yard and we're presented with a new list of numbers to go with the names (some of them aren't even close to the previous numbers). I re-submit the report and in another 3 or 4 months we get another notice from the IRS about bad numbers. This has gone on for 6 or 8 years now.

I've asked the employer why he hires illegals and he said he has to or he can't stay in business because his competitors hire illegals.

Poor crimaliens. Out here in California, the wives drive Lincoln Navigators or Cadillac Escalades. The new trend is the male crimaliens driving Lincoln or Cadillac tricked out phoney pickups.

Isn’t it just amazing that the poor (I mean economically) African Americans and union workers are being royally screwed while jobs are taken by millions of low wage non Americans? The liberal dems seem to have misplaced all those constituents. But then I guess after succesfully consigning their kids to hell in horrible urban public schools, the dems knew they could get away with anything.

There is a huge sub culture of illegals, not only from Mexico. This includes Eastern Europeans, South Asians, etc. A big part of their existence is avoiding taxes, getting illegal benefits, and shipping money and goods (cars, etc) out of the country. IMHO this is all feeding into a worsening culture of corruption at all levels, because the USA is now operating like the Third World countries in which everything is done on the black market and with bribes.

Especially in my county which has been run as a jobs program for blacks forever. I am not sure how the upper management is justifying it to their cronies except with underhanded deals to “minority” firms who then sub out to the cheapest they can get. Which is what I assume is going on.

"I've asked the employer why he hires illegals and he said he has to or he can't stay in business because his competitors hire illegals."

His mother would tell him, "Don't tell me that 'all the other guys are doing that,' if all of the other guys jumped off a cliff, would you follow them?"

That's the same story everywhere, "everyone else in 'my industry' uses illegals at below minimum wage and I can't survive if I don't."

What we need are some "real teeth" to do the same kind of "instant background checks" that they do if you wish to purchase a gun.

The newspapers have discussed that whole suburbs surrounding Philadelphia have become Mexican. In Jersey, the store announcements to customers and to employees are being given in Spanish. This goes way beyond the numbers being reported by government and press.

The families of the miners are being updated on the latest developments by mining officials and Murray himself. Some of the missing miners are believed to be Mexican nationals.
Mexican Consul Salvador Jimenez was in Huntington Canyon to lend his support wherever he could, hearing that three or four of the miners are Hispanic.

We had a new roof put on when we moved in - run by a white guy who’d been in business in town twenty years, family firm - but the eight men who came and went up on my roof were all Hispanic.

I haven’t hired out anything since then, redoing the bath or painting or new kitchen floor, but there’s things that are beyond me that have to be done soon - tree work and concrete injection under a slab. So I’ll see who actually shows up to do the work.

Elected and appointed public officials on government boards and in state and municipal government offices (education offices, election offices, welfare offices, DMV offices, law enforcement offices, etc) who are enabling illegals, and licensing/registering/etc illegals are, in fact, using tax dollars to aid and abet violations of federal and state laws.

Aiding and abetting illegal activity seriously impairs a government official's ability to be bonded; violating the terms of "bonding" would necessitate expulsion from a government job.

"Bonded" government officials using tax-funded offices to aid and abet illegal activity should be reported ASAP.

(A) Every state has a Dept of Insurance, and an insurance fraud unit, that polices the insurance business (and "bonding" companies).

(B) Every state's Atty General's office should have an Insurance Fraud Prosecutor who should be contacted.

Verify SS#/name 1-800-772-6270

Not only are these illegal aliens unauthorized to work legally in the United States but they are doing so with fraudulent Social Security numbers.

(1) The US Social Security system is being looted by illegals using multiple SS numbers and ID theft.

(2) The NY Times reported Mexicans who once worked here with valid SS numbers, then returned to Mexico, actually rent out their SS numbers so other illegals can pocket $3500 Earned Income Tax refunds.

(3) Illegals here get paid under the table, don't pay taxes, and send billions of US dollars back to their corrupt countries.

(4) A widely-used SS# scheme: the illegals name their anchor baby the same name as the parent. They obtain a valid SS# for the anchor baby; the parent uses it, no one checks beyond name-matching, if that.

(5) CNN's Lou Dobbs reported illegals are stealing small childrens' SS# because a child doesn't use a number very often so it is near impossible to detect a stolen number.

(6) Dobbs also mentioned that business owners give illegals SS# of a previous employee (it is not a felony to give away SS#s but it is a felony to use them).

(7) Another twist. Now illegals don't have to use rented or fake SS# because they've just been granted the right to collect SocSec if they have worked a short time (44 months I think), whereas legit American citizens have to work for far longer before collecting.

Thanks to conniving invaders, pretty soon American senior citizens will be on the "Mexican retirement system"---selling sticks of chewing gum on street corners.

Privacy concerns continue to block attempts to create a national database with basic information in it like:

Residence address, digital photo, fingerprints, schooling, certifications, legal status, etc.

Yet this is the sort of information that an employer should have at his fingertips before hiring anyone, for both legal and safety reasons. This information should always be CURRENT. It does NOT need to be on a “tamper-proof card”, readable from a distance or tied to your credit history or anything else. What is necessary and incredibly cheap these days is a fingerprint scanner to pull up the information from the database. Anybody, including an employer, would know you are who you say you are and whether you are qualified for the job.

This would save so much time and money for employers, police, banks, etc. and not give anybody any information (like SS#, medical history, etc.) that threatens privacy. That anybody relies on paper documents today for identity checking is just nonsense.

It;s a minor headache to enroll and then you have to wait on the password through snail mail but it sure takes a lot of the pain in the butt out of it in the long run.

Here in Chicago, it has to do with votes. Hispanic ward bosses deliver huge voting blocks from their district to Mayor Daley. In return, the ward bosses are given jobs where they are in charge of hiring.

In a few cases, it has been found that the ward bosses are gang leaders, Latin Kings, Latin Disciples, etc. It won’t be long before the 13’s are delivering votes to Daley, and appointing their own people on streets and sanitation.

This is nothing new here, it used to be the Italians and Pols that delivered the vote, now its the latins. The difference is that the votes they are delivering are probably from non-US-citizens.
