I cannot for the life of me understand why Fred Thompson polls so low and Duncan Hunter isn't even on the chart!

This world is upside down and backwards if ya ask me.

Fred has now officially dropped 20% since his announcement. Where did all his supporters go? Huckabee?

With the Rasmussen poll out yesterday showing Huck now in first place in South Carolina (and yes lots could change in a month), what do his supporters think his possible path to the nomination could be?

In my opinion, Fred must absolutely dominate in SC if he has any hopes of moving further.

The liberals are winning. It’s too depressing to contemplate.

Seriously why can’t Fred get out their and make a national speech. Romney did a great job. Duncan is my number one choice, but FRed would be ok. He seriously needs to do something. FREDHEADS are huge on FR and should get together for a strategy session.

There is no way Huckabee is leading. Rasmussen needs to put down the crack pipe.

Fred quit his Law & Order job for this?

He's looking to be the next McLean Stevenson.

“I cannot for the life of me understand why Fred Thompson polls so low and Duncan Hunter isn’t even on the chart!

I hear that. I think Fred’s problem is that he’s not looked to good on stage (sad but true) and he’s done nothing except come up with boring, very good, positions on things. In other words, too much substance and not enough flash. It’s _really_ sad that in today’s Presidential campaigns substance doesn’t cut it.

Hunter has a somewhat similar problem. While he’s good on substance, he doesn’t seem to really excite people. Plus, he’s “just” a congressman.

Bill Clinton hinted on a Barbara Walters special (it was a slow TV night) last night that his guess for the Republican nomination was McCain. And I believe the interview was very recent, taped earlier this week. What do you think? McCain - not gonna happen?

I can't figure it out either. Like Kasey Kasem once said, "Ponderous man, ponderous!"

I will say it one more time. Polls mostly measure attraction to bright shiny objets at this point.

Relax...

I agree. Fred should give several major speeches on conservatism and federalism, and exactly why he's the best candidate in the race. Many folks would watch and listen with serious intent. It would hearken back to days of Ronald Reagan`s substantive policy speeches and his plan for the future agenda of America. Right now outside of Fred, no one has offered concrete policy inititives in this race.

Romney's speech yesterday was frivolous and designed to offset the Hucksters rise in Iowa.

People want to support a winner. That's why national polls before Iowa, NH and SC are meaningless. Everyone supports the flavor of the day, which usually changes once the primaries begin. For example, John Kerry won NH by 13 points after being down by double digits two weeks prior. This is wide open.
