Obama, Huckabee Lead Final Iowa Poll
KWWL ^ | 12-31-2008 | Unknown

A new poll released tonight by the Des Moines Register shows Barack Obama has widened his lead over Democratic opponents and Mike Huckabee out in front of Republicans.

The final Iowa Poll before Thursday's caucuses shows Obama with the support of 32 percent of those surveyed, compared to 25 percent for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and 24 percent for former Senator John Edwards.

Among Republicans, Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor, had the backing of 32 percent of those surveyed, and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney had 26 percent.

Other polls have shown far closer races in recent days within both parties, and the leading candidates are engaged in a virtual nonstop round of personal appearances across the state that provides the first test of the race for the White House

Rasmussen has it right:

Rasmussen Reports has not conducted polling in Iowa between Christmas and New Years. We have doubts about the ability to obtain reliable results during that time frame.

Wow, Ron Paul within striking distance of McCain? That’s just crazy.

In two days the worthless polls in Iowa will cease for four years, but we still have the worthless polls from NH, FL, MI, SC...etc to look forward to.

On Thursday I'm leaving for about a month of golfing, beaching and fishing in Florida and I sure hope algore's global warming has returned to Florida {at least for January 2008}.

I will not take a laptop nor listen to a political program {other than Rush when I'm not predisposed in any other fun activity}.

Happy New Year to the Freeper family {even those with whom I've had verbal disagreements}.

What % of Iowa’s delegates are apportioned to winner take all?
What % of Iowa’s delegates are apportioned to winners of each Iowa Congressional district?

Maybe that’s why Rasmussen has started using Intrade results.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1945852/posts

Huckabee has surged because he won a couple of debates and he’s got evangelical support. If a quick rise can happen to the liberal pro-life evangelical Huckster, it can happen to the conservative pro-life evangelical Hunter.

.

.

.

.

According to Intrade, the winner of the December 12th GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.

Why the smart money is on Duncan Hunter

In this poll Hunter is up 3% and even with Paul and Thompson.

By virtue of experience and philosophy, Hunter is probably the best Presidential material of all the candidates. Too bad our Presidential campaigns have been reduced to glamour contests.

ARG says Romney’s ahead by 9pts.

I hear that ARG is very unreliable. I would take the local Des Moines Register poll over that anytime.

Nope. Not a chance. I like Hunter, but he has no personality to speak of. That's why he resonates with almost nobody, not even in our own party. The only winnables in this election are Abortiani (charm; 9-11; a nightmare for our party if he wins the nomination, causing him to almost not be winnable), McCain (media favorite; moderate; war-time P.O.W.), Paul (antiwar Republican; small government, rebellious Libertarian; would draw votes from the Democrat side; will never get the nomination, though), and Huckabee (not perfectly conservative, but is the most conservative of the winnable candidates; great personality and sense of humor will stand in stark contrast to the Hildabeast; great debater). Of the winnables, my vote is certainly for Huckabee.

Here’s a snapshot of today’s Iowa caucus for Intrade. Significantly, you don’t mention Thompson, who has been holding off Hunter due to name recognition. But right now there are 20 points missing from the results (they don’t add to 100) and as you can see, there’s wild swings lately between Huckster and Romney, more than 30 points in one day. Iowans are dissatisfied with the front runners.

Winner of 2008 Republican Iowa Caucus
REP.IOWA.HUCKABEE
Mike Huckabee to Win M 48.1 53.9 50.0 1973 +5.0

No, I didn’t mention Thompson. I only mentioned the winnables. Thompson was the first campaign that I donated money to, but he turned out to be a horrible candidate and I withdrew my support as to not waste it on somebody who is doomed to lose. I like Thompson, but he’s a geriatric.

Thanks for the INtrade numbers. Have a happy New Year.

Can you really imagine this bunch in the White House?

        HEEHAW, HEEHAW
Hey mom...what's for super? Pedro is back. He slipped over the border  yesterday, do you think we can get Maria to cook up some her fine tacos?

I would rather vote for a Democrat than that....more government involvement...amnesty pushing... foreign affairs ignorant......Bush bashing....high taxing....parole giving...credential lying.....preacher hick from Arkansas. That's about it (sure I missed something)

Karl Rove might be right when he said to get ready for a Democratic era in the White House.  A vote for Huckabee is a vote for a Democrat, no matter which party wins.

Democratic Governor Endorses Mike Huckabee

Instead we have conservatives lining up behind Mike Huckabee because he agrees with them on two issues - gay marriage and abortion - neither of which the president can do much about. And all the while they ignore his liberal history as governor of Arkansas. If Huckabee is a real conservative, explain this: Since he's running in the Republican primaries for president, don't expect Mike Huckabee to be advertising the strong endorsement he just got from Ted Strickland, Ohio's Democratic governor.

It seems Mr. Strickland, who typically racked up a 95% rating from the liberal Americans for Democratic Action during his 16 years in Congress, has discovered a kindred spirit in Mr. Huckabee. He told the Cincinnati Enquirer last Sunday that Mr. Huckabee is a "combination of conservative views in some ways, but very, almost liberal views in other ways." Mr. Strickland concluded: "Of all the Republican candidates, Mr. Huckabee would be my personal choice."

NOW,,, THERE SHOULD BE NOT DOUBT IN YOUR MIND....HUCKABEE IS LOVED BY DEMOCRATS.

God save us if he is actually nominated by the Republican party, or should I say "former" Republican party ..if that actually occurs.

YOUR CHOICE                           This                         OR                                   This.

NEITHER IS A PRETTY PICTURE
