A Queens man faces weapons possession charges after police say a search of his house turned up a stash of guns and ammunition.
Suwei Chuang, 36, was arrested last night after officers spotted him carrying a AR-15 assault rifle in Flushing.
They obtained a search warrant for his house and that's when they discovered the weapons.
Police found a fully-loaded machine gun, assault rifles, shot guns, handguns, more than 29,000 rounds, gas masks, and police radios among other illegal items in his car and apartment.
Police say Chuang may be an arms dealer.
"It could be a cottage industry, he could be a total buff, or he could be a very dangerous individual who was able to gather these firearms," said NYPD Detective Miles Mahady.
It is not clear how Chuang obtained the weapons. He has a prior federal conviction for arson in 1996. Police believe he has worked in security in the past, although he is currently unemployed. He also served in the United States Army.
They got Prince Phillip?
Guess I am next on the list.
Oh yes, I forgot to say that I live in Idaho and most of my neighbors have more than I do...hehehe. Gotta love it.
“He has a prior federal conviction for arson in 1996”
Oh my, gun control laws must not be working! Obviously, if existing gun control laws aren't working, then the only "logical" solution is that we need more gun control laws, as the new ones will surely work better than the old ones! (/sarcasm)
You do not have a semi-automatic assault rifle.
Police found a fully-loaded machine gun
Who wants to bet me that there was no “machine gun?”
I have a slingshot that I use ONLY around the Tiger cage at the Zoo !
tons of asian gang activity in that area that goes underneath the nypd radar.
I’ll bet as long as I get the “not a machine gun” side.
What the heck is a “fully-loaded” machine gun? Is that different than one-half loaded or one-quarter loaded?
LOL
jw
because they don’t go around spraying bullets around playgrounds and open-air drug dealing.
Amazing how Northern Boulevard and even parts of Bell Boulevard are so heavily Korean now. The Koreans were in Flushing, but moved to Bayside, leaving the Chinese in Flushing (such as this gentleman).
Yep.
Wanna bet it wasn't a real assault rifle, per DoD definition?
Still that would tend to get their attention, when it wasn't wanted, I'm sure. :)
Call it whatever you want. I’ve owned my FAL and two mini-14s for many years and run a lot of ammo through them all. If you want to define “assault” as full auto rock and roll...fine. I understand it and cen accept it. But, I will still call my FAL by that name, that definition notwithstanding.
Unfortunately, NY State, in passing its on "Assault Weapons" law, latched on to the false Federal definition (created by Feinstein et al. in 1994) as to what constitutes an "assault weapon" (a weapon manufactured after Sep. 1994 and having more than 2 "evil" features, as far as rifles are concerned), so technically, if this guy had a non-compliant rifle, he possessed an illegal "assault weapon", even if it was only a semi-auto rifle.
...and that was a small Siberian too.
“more than 29,000 rounds”
THAT’S what I REALLY wanted for Christmas!!!
first of all merry xmas and happy new year, the chinese have their businesses in queens and live in their nice mcmansions and summer homes further east.
