California Republicans – You can make History by Voting for Mitt Romney
opinion | 02/04/2008 | brianbaldwin

Posted on 02/04/2008 7:20:15 PM PST by Brian_Baldwin

California Republicans gave us Ronald Reagan. California Republicans gave us a Governor who, in Reagan, made history. But where are these same Republicans today? Will you be willing to count your vote as history in the making - tomorrow? Because, the reality is the race has come down to McCain and Romney.

But I am worried. After all, many of my fellow Republicans not only gave us a man of history in Ronald Reagan, but they have also given our Nation another Republican Governor named Arnold.

Every vote counts. Today, in retrospect, do fellow Republicans of our Great State accept Arnold as anything like a Reagan, or for that matter, even a Republican?

When Arnold was running for Governor, he sounded at that time very much like John McCain today. And many, including myself, made a terrible mistake. Today, I do not even recognize that same Arnold. What a huge disappointment.

Arnold endorsed John McCain.

I am voting for Mitt Romney in tomorrows California Republican Primary.

What can I do to convince you to vote for Romney? Because, this is the time and the place when it is going to count. If you are a conservative, and thinking of voting for Huckabee – I want to honestly request you consider this. That you can make history, you can best server the voice of the conservative wing of our Party, by voting for Mitt Romney at this time. Because, it will all be decided tomorrow. That is the reality.

It is going to be McCain, or it is going to be Romney. Whoever the Republicans choose in this State, our State, California, that is going to be decisive. There is no way around the numbers, there is California, and there is Georgia.

This is the last two minutes of the Super Bowl, my friends.

John McCain likes to use the term “my friends”. I love John McCain. But I want to make history for the conservative wing of my Party. The way to make history in this case, at this moment, is to vote for Mitt Romney. As pompous as it sounds, this is not a partisan appeal. It is a fact. Conservatives can now have a chance, in California, to make history – I know those who have already decided for Romney will be there tomorrow. For those who are not voting for McCain but considering someone other than Romney, I want you to consider that you can actually be a part of something historical. You can do this by voting for Mitt Romney in California.

The Democrats, the liberals, and their friends in the media, are trying to work McCain’s head right now. The way politics works, well everyone who should know, knows that it is a very malicious mêlée and there are very high stakes involved. Right now, the Democrats, the liberals, and their friends in the media, want McCain to win in California. And while they want this outcome, they are also working and going to try to get to McCain’s head. What they want McCain to do is, they want to convince John McCain that the conservatives are his nemesis, and they want to, slowly, in their own way, convince McCain and feed a hatred in him against conservatives. That it was the conservatives who schemed a McCain loss to Bush, and today they are working with the “right wing talk shows” to destroy McCain.

You see, the left wants McCain to win in California. And then, they want to get to his head, and make him think, “you see, I can win without them, without the conservatives” …

But you see, in the General Election, McCain cannot win – he cannot win without the conservatives of the Republican Party. Not without their vote.

And so, what the left wants, is for McCain to win in California. And take the nomination. And then, they believe they can screw with his head. And make McCain do a terrible mistake. The mistake will be when McCain says something attacking the conservatives in a clear, emotional driven, message. That McCain will say or do this very stupid mistake.

In fact, they are counting on it.

And once McCain does that, then he has lost the General election.

Because McCain cannot win the Presidency of the United States without Republicans, without the conservatives.

And that is why I want you to vote for Mitt Romney.

I want you to stop this agenda of the left wing.

I want you to make history. I am no one. But I can see what they are trying to do. I want you to think about it.

Mitt Romney is not Ronald Reagan. But I want you to understand. He is not Arnold, either. You can have the insight to see.

Everyone, for a long time, has been of the mind set that they need to find someone to give a big ovation to. But then, over time, we start to feel that there is no one worthwhile for a standing ovation. I mean, it can feel pretty good, to stand up and give someone a big ovation. For some, it might even make them feel free. But that is not freedom. You see Democrats, and they really give Obama these big ovations – you even see the same in the Hillary Clinton supporters. But think about it. Sure, sometimes Republicans can’t be like Democrats. Nice claps, cheers – but no one to really give this big ol’ crazy ovation. I mean, in some ways, the Democratic Party is really cult. But, you see, you should not let these big ovations get you down. Because, no, you are not like them. We are not a cult. Not like them. A Coca Cola machine is not magic. It is a machine. It was made by humans, the human mind. The Democrats live in a magic mind set. To them, a big Coca Cola machine comes before them, and they think it’s magic. But, you understand, there is a machine there, and it is us who can make the machine.

No politician is going to be someone who you might stand and, literally, foolishly, throw all of your ovations to. But you can make history. It isn’t magic. But if you use consideration, and thought, and look at the two minute warning in a very real way, you actually can make a difference just so long as you are in the game. Don’t drop out of the game. The football is about to be handed to you, California.

I said he’s the worst of the RINOs. I’d cast a vote for an authentic Democrat in the general instead of a trojan horse Democrat pretending to be a Republican. If his record in Massachusetts doesn’t demonstrate he’s a Democrat in practice and in end results, nothing does.

Have you been wondering where McCain and Huckabee have been getting their money?

It's interesting that a man who has close ties to John McCain is funding a PAC, called, Trust Huckabee, which ran the push polls for Huckabee in Florida.

In case you don't know who Charles Lindner is, maybe this will remind you(now he's into carbon trading, as in McCain/Lieberman):

The Keating One,' and Carl Lindner From 1981—the year before John McCain ran for U.S. Congress—until the early 1990s, the former Navy pilot was totally beholden to junk bond swindler Charles Keating for his political fortunes. When the S&L scandal exploded and Federal prosecutors were breathing down Keating's neck, it was McCain who tried to bully Federal regulators into backing off. While the affair became known as the "Keating Five" scandal, none of the other members of the Senate and House implicated in the ethics violations, were as closely tied to Keating as John McCain.

And Charles Keating was no "loan assassin." He was but one player in a larger organized crime apparatus that ran the $200 billion-plus rip-off, in what may have been the biggest actual RICO (racketeering) scheme ever.

Between 1959 and the late 1980s, Charles Keating was the business partner of Carl Lindner, the Cincinnati, Ohio-based financier who would be one of the central figures in the $200 billion S&L rip-off. In 1959, Lindner and Keating co-founded American Financial Corporation (AFC). Keating served as the mortgage and insurance company's general counsel, and later as vice president.

Between 1974 and 1976, Lindner and Keating engineered a series of stock purchases and mergers with some of the leading figures in the Lansky crime syndicate—who had followed the Bronfman family recipe, and gone from "rags, to rackets, to riches, to respectability

Where the hell is the Huckster getting money to stay on til the end?

Mike Huckabee (R)
Former Governor from Arkansas
Huckabee’s 4th Quarter haul quadrupled the total that he had brought in the rest of the year, bringing his 2007 total to nearly $9 million. In the last three months of 2007 he collected $6.6 million, just before going on to win Iowa’s Republican caucus. But he’s struggled to win votes at the primary elections since then and still lags behind all remaining Republican candidates but one in the money race. The Baptist minister is strapped for cash as the candidates move through some expensive primary states.

Total Receipts: $8,986,532
Total Spent: $7,090,087
Cash on Hand: $1,896,446
Debts: $97,676
Date of last report: December 31, 2007

Mitt might not be perfect, but he's head-and-shoulders better than the Republican alternatives (Huckabee and Paul)...

... and our Republic would have difficulty surviving in its current form under the presidency of any of the Democrats currently running (Clinton, Obama, and McCain).

My absentee ballot has already been cast for Mitt.

Hopefully, it has lots of company.

“True but watch the mccain shills in the media”.

Michael Savage said it best tonight, I’m paraphrasing but it was basically this:

“The BOYS in San Francisco and the BOYS in NY don’t like Romney” (decent family man, Christian) “they LIKE McCain, they figure they can ‘work’ with him”....

The problem here is that we have no Conservative currently running. The only vote a Conservative can make is for Fred or “None of the above.” They may be wasted votes on paper, but it’s the only one a Conservative can make without violating their conscience.

Take it a step further and assume we end up with a brokered convention...

For all of who are wondering what long, complicated and intriguing story line would play out if we had a brokered convention. It would go something like this:

Romney would never vote for Homosexual marriage, McCain would.

That’s believable. Anything that goes against conservative principles you can be sure mccain will all be for it.

No disagreement there!

One can't judge the conscience of others. Lots of people are struggling with their decisions. It's their vote and I will respect whatever they choose to do.

“Chopping off both hands is a better alternative than voting for Romney.”

Hey Field, your medication is wearing off. Your rants are making less sense as they continue. Back on the “Meds” for the good of all.
When you say you were a FReadhead (as are many of us) and then write the “chopping off” thing, it is embarrassing.
Keep it civil, will you?

"Whatever his past positions, Romney is now running as a conservative."

Never trust a liberal. His conversions are nothing but lies.

Agree. It is a mystery to me as well. He does seem to get more than his share of free Media coverage and, here in Michigan, I’ve seen four ads on CNN today (Going to get rid of IRS - The perennial promise -LOL).

Lately he seems to be more of a McCain endorser than a candidate in his own right. Definitely doesn’t have a good thing to say about Romney but plenty of nice for McCain.

The $50 dollar abortions were court mandated. The Gay thing was court mandated.

Romney ain’t perfect. He’s changed some views. Why? Political expediency or actually saying what he really thinks?

But at least he tries to be conservative. As a business, free markets and capitalism is he knows. Very well. And if elected, he is beholden ONLY to the American people that voted him in based on his platform. Not McCain bought and paid for by the liberals who almost became a DIM twice. Not Huckabee who is a social conservative but believes gov’ment is good. And compassionate. I’ve been sold that bill of goods 8 years ago.

Lastly, look at Romney’s private life and family background. And then look at McCains. That tells the story of the man and who he is. More than policies and platforms.
