Wake up Conservative Base!

Posted on 05/10/2008 9:11:06 AM PDT by RonnieFan

All indications are the Democrats will pick up seats in both the House and Senate, with the Senate likely being a couple of RHINOs away from the magic 60. McCain is no Reagan but he's the only thing standing in the way of the most liberal Senator in Senate becoming President with a clear majority in Congress and at a critical time with decisions to be made on the war on terror, the war in Iraq, heath care, taxes, illegal immigration and likely the Supreme Court.

Sometimes you do have to pick the lesser of two evils. This is one of them. I am fully aware that I'll be let down by McCain on some key issues but I know I'll be let down on all of them if Obama is President.

I just wish McCain would stop using his campaign coffers (which need replenished badly!) to support other Senate Rinos like Olympia Snowe.

SNOWE FOR SENATE PORTLAND, ME $1,986 contributed by McCain campaign.

Hell Darren, Barak could not even bring himself to vote for the Born Alive Act, when he was a state senator.

That same bill passed the US senate with 0 nay votes.

barak is more pro abortion that Planned Parenthood.

As it is now we are lucky to have a shaky 6-5 in the SCOTUS.

6-5? Are you still counting Earl Warren? Because she's been dead for over 30 years. Her ghost doesn't count either.

Here’s the REAL situation;

The Dems will retain control of the Senate.

Juanito, not wanting a fight with his bestest buddies in the whole wide world, the Liberals, will ask nee, BEG Ted Kennedy to pick his judges for him.

No judge will be approved or even moved to the floor lest Fat Teddy gives Juanito the green light.

And the absolutely biggest laugher of this whole experience will be that without that backstabbing pr*ck and his gang of 14, this will not have come to pass. I plan on laughing whole heartedly if he whines about those mean ole liberals not letting his judges through.

“The thing is, McCain compared to the far far left Obama isn’t even a lesser of two evils. For all the irritation of McCain, he is still pro life, pro guns, pro military and generally pro economic growth. I know he has wandered around, but Obama with a huge advantage in congress? That is scary. People throw the socialism word around lightly, but this is the real deal, and everyone seems asleep at the switch.

Those that say McCain is no better than Obama have their heads somewhere other than where they need to be.

Even if McCain is just a stop gap until 2012, it likely prevents a wildly liberal addition or two to the Supremes, and won’t cause a disaster in the Iraq and tax policies.

It may not be inspiring, but the fear of Obama’s leftist policies is enough to motivate me.

Hopefully McCain has an inspired choice for VP. Most of the time the VP is irrelevant, but this time he may be handpicking the de facto front runner for 2012 on the GOP side.”

An excellent post! You are 100% correct. I hope sensible people will read your post and seriously think about what you said.

“Because that’s the choice: McCain or Barack Hussein Obama.”

That’s no choice, that is a damned THREAT!

Isn't McCain the living definition of a RHINO?

This has been posted quite a few times already. Either we vote for McCain or we lose the Supreme Court. I’m not voting for McCain. He has stabbed all conservatives in the back and we are supposed to reward him by voting him in as POTUS. Screw him.

Since Roberts became Chief Justice, most of the issues have gone 6-5 on conservative issues.

Roberts has been able to swing an occasion moderate/left to our side of the case.

There is no question what kind of judges Barak would nominate.

“America can survive a McCain presidency. The America we know would be unrecognizable after a Clinton or Obama reign of terror.”

I agree completely.

I'm not having any problem voting for McCain. I preferred Romney, but I'm willing to give John a pass on the illegal immigration issue. Face it, when it takes many years to get a green card and even more than that to become a citizen, then that is waaay too much government red tape and I would also cross illegaly.

Interesting that some Freepers will condone this ridiculous government red tape to become a citizen.

Soros is spending millions for paid operatives to infiltrate FR and other forums and blogs in order to create dissatisfaction and suppress the Republican vote.

Do you know how to get in touch with Soros? I wasn't aware that I could actually make money doing this.

Why would someone rant on about not voting for McCain unless the objective is to get others to do the same.

Because we don't want McCain destroying the Republican party as the home of conservatism. From where many of us sit, you folks shilling for McCain are the problem. McCain is a backstabber, he cannot be trusted.

Nah. If you vote for someone you don’t agree with, you will have wasted your vote. For such a candidate will assume he has a mandate and that is the worse possible outcome for the future will hold more of the same.

If ignoring McCain Kristol type candidates does not wake up the GOP, then let them sleep. Give them another wake up call in 2010 Congressional elections.

The VP nominee will be a big factor in whether I hold my nose and vote for McQueeg, or just leave the top of the ticket blank. He better pick a conservative who is qualified to be POTUS, not just somebody to pander to a voting bloc or geographic area.

Thanks for the reminder. I actually was not aware of this, but it is certainly something to keep in mind.
Any non-vote for McCain IS a vote FOR Obama and the terrorists he sympathized and fraternizes with.

Venezuela has Chavez. Obama will be our Chavez. With the executive and legislative firmly in their hands, the RATS will get the next SCOTUS picks, higher taxes, gay marriage, abortion, illegal immigration and god knows what else.

Sorry, in this world last thing we need is a Marxist or a criminal in office. I’ll take the moderate who is pro life, pro guns, pro military and generally pro economic growth.

The Conservatives in congress will have to work hard to keep McCain honest.
