We need to determine if ACORN in "red-lining" areas in which they conduct mass voter-registrations----and whether ACORN is excluding areas, thereby profiling voters which they deem unsuitable for mass canvassing.
ACORN IS PROFILING VOTERS; profiling is a crime. One FReeper reported in realtime: he was approached multiple times by ACORN canvassers ......but they lost interest when the FReeper said he was a Republican.
That means ACORN gave orders to "profile" voters. ACORN deemed individuals who voted a certain way were not suitable to sign-up and register as new voters. ACORN'S refusal to register a person to vote based on the person's political party could be adjudged an infringement on the person's civil rights.
We need to determine if ACORN in "red-lining" areas in which they conduct mass voter-registrations----and whether ACORN is excluding areas, thereby profiling voters which they deem unsuitable for mass canvassing.
Profiling is considered a serious crime. The law in many states creates a method for registering complaints of "profiling," and requires individual states to investigate each complaint filed.
ACTION NEEDED File a complaint regarding ACORN'S profiling potential voters.

If an ACORN worker refuses to register you to vote ---get (A) the worker's name, (B) the worker's ID, (C) place of ACORN worker's employment, and, (D) ACORN worker's immediate supervisor. Report the ACORN worker, local agency, and supervisor's name to the FBI, the DOJ, your state's election committee, and the Secy of State in which you live.

Although ACORN’s projects run a wide gamut, the group claims as its purpose helping low- and middle-income Americans — through initiatives ranging from improving urban public schools, to providing counseling on how to avoid “predatory lending,” to increasing the availability of “affordable housing.” Most of these programs are conducted locally, by state-level ACORN organizations — which are often set up as 501(c)3 nonprofit entities distinct from the national ACORN umbrella, a 501(c)4 lobbying organization. Sounds benign enough — except that, according to Bob Huberty, executive vice president of the Capital Research Center, these tax-exempt 501(c)3s “have no reason for existence other than to get grants from the government and foundations.” They are, essentially, an ACORN front for asking Uncle Sam to subsidize political activity.
Ask ACORN does — and it definitely receives. Take, for example, the most recent tax information from one of ACORN’s subsidiary nonprofits: the ACORN Housing Corporation, Inc., based out of the organization’s national headquarters in New Orleans. For the tax year beginning July 1, 2002, and ending June 30, 2003, ACORN Housing Corp.’s 990 Form shows a total of $1,710,203 received in government grants (the year before, the total was $1,977,306).
The nominal purpose of those millions is to “provide low rent housing & loan counseling services to low income individuals.” But if the government is funding the actual, legitimate work of ACORN at the local 501(c)3 level, it means that the national lobbying organization can dedicate more of its unrestricted resources to electioneering. Furthermore, explains Craig Garthwaite, director of research at the Employment Policies Institute, “The funding is not only fungible in that if they receive money for X, they can spend more on Y.” He cites one particular example of money-rerouting malfeasance: the crooked dealings surrounding an AmeriCorps grant in 1996. According to an EPI study, when the ACORN Housing Corp. applied for the grant, they denied any connections to the main ACORN lobbying group (the grant is not for political advocacy). But the AmeriCorps inspector general discovered that “not only was AHC created by ACORN, engaged in numerous transactions with one another, and sharing staff and office space — but it utilized the AmeriCorps grant to increase ACORN membership, a violation of federal guidelines.” (ACORN charges membership dues, much as labor unions do; thus, by exploiting AmeriCorps funding to inflate its membership rolls, ACORN used government resources to bring in even more money — money with no restrictions on its political use.)
Falsifying official documents incurs felony charges for first-degree tampering with public records, first-degree offering of a false instrument for filing, fourth-degree grand larceny, and first-degree falsifying of official records.
What does any of that have to do with "profiling"?

I’m sure that the ACORN scumbags make sure that they do not register Republicans (or they may register a modest % of Republicans just so that they can continue the pretence that they are non-partisan). I wonder if someone can access statistics for how many Democrats they register vs. how many Republicans? They are a “non-profit” because they are supposed to be “non-partisan” (big joke), so if it can be proved that they work on behalf of the Democrats (which we all know, but it needs to be proved in a court of law or with the IRS, etc.) then it’s a big deal..... except that ‘Rat and RINO bureaucrats will try hard not to do anything about it.
The Feds should shut down ACORN and invalidate all registrations done by them this year - and put out a loud public notice:
“If you registered to vote through an ACORN worker, your registration is invalid. You must go to your local precinct and register - NOW.”

FReeper calpernia turned us on to ID theft in the campaign contribution sector----candidates using fake donor names to get around FEC laws.
ID theft is also a factor in the toxic mortgages ACORN originated which are poisoning the US economy.
ACORN's activities gives it access to many names that could be used in these scams.
Obama's campaign donors should be examined very closely.

The Connecticut girl is 11 years too young - and nobody in her family knows how she ended up on a voter registration form submitted by ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. Jerome Smith O'jahnae's teenage brother said, "She's too young to vote." But that didn't stop someone from forging the child's signature on a voter registration card and giving her a fake birth date that upped her age to 27. The family told The Post a drug-addicted relative may have given the bogus card to ACORN.
Voter registration fraud complaints like these continue to mount for the group, already under scrutiny in 11 states where hundreds, if not thousands, of new registrations are being questioned. ACORN volunteers have been found to register dead people and even put members of the Dallas Cowboys on Nevada lists. The community organizing group has a long history of flooding low- and middle-income neighborhoods in election years with temporary workers instructed to register 20 to 25 voters per day - or risk getting fired. Most states prohibit paying per signature, but ACORN workers earning $8 to $9 an hour still have to hit their quotas. And many need the money - including some ex-cons in work-release programs.
ACORN's controversial tactics have fueled John McCain's criticism of Barack Obama, whose campaign paid an ACORN spinoff - Community Services Inc. - about $800,000 to knock on doors and urge people to vote for Obama in four key primary states: Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas. In his pre-politics days, Obama ran the Illinois chapter of Project Vote in 1992, before it hooked up with ACORN.
McCain campaign manager Rick Davis on Friday called for a freeze on taxpayer dollars to ACORN until recent allegations have been investigated.
Meanwhile, state authorities in New Mexico, Indiana, Missouri, Connecticut, Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Nevada have launched probes of bogus voter registration forms filed by ACORN. Roberta Casteel, a nurse, is one of several dozen Nevada voters caught in the web of fake ACORN registrations. Casteel, a registered voter since 1991, was shocked to receive a letter rejecting a voter application she didn't know she'd made. Authorities said they'd received two voter applications in her name: one as a Democrat and one as an independent. Both cards had her address, date of birth and Social Security number, and were submitted by ACORN workers. Neither signature matched her original one on file. A former ACORN worker in Pennsylvania has already been charged with 17 counts of identity theft and forgery. Other states are sifting through cartons of suspicious forms.
