It's time to face it America

Posted on 11/05/2008 4:40:17 AM PST by Scoville300k

The majority of Americans WANT Socialism. They don't know it's called Socialism. The majority of Americans don't even know what Socialism is.

To most Americans, "free" health care, "free" housing, "free" food, are wonderful things. To most Americans, it is a relief to give away the burden of these responsibilities to a government that will take care of them. It is just plain easier.

In another time, this was called "slavery." While once thought of as distasteful, it appears that it has come back into fashion. 60,000,000 American voters crawled into the voting booths, and volunteered to become wards of the State - the new "master." The liberal's dream of a nation of serfs, ruled over by the political elite, is one giant leap forward.

Of course, these same Americans have utterly no understanding that giving away these responsibilities also means giving away liberty. It's just so bothersome to think of. Besides, the next season of American Idol starts soon. Isn't it just so much nicer to sit and watch the funny people on the TV? Besides, all the talk about liberty just makes them sleepy.

Obama's agenda is 100% unstoppable. The majority party has but to point at any defiant senator and say, "racist". That, combined with the investigation of the MSM into the "racist" senator will cause immediate compliance.

No generation that lost their liberty - or in our case, gave it away - lived to see it again.

Nothing is “free”. Someone has to pay, and that is the working people of America.

I like to use the analogy “pump the water out of the other guys side of the lake”. I’m amazed how few people understand what I’m trying to illustrate.

"it’s gonna be great!"

I paid off my mortgage just before I started sending kids to college a decade ago. It's a good thing, but property taxes can still be a significant burden. Might as well toss in having 0be pay for the house insurance + taxes along with the mortgage.

I didn’t say right away. With the toadie press on his side, The One may rule for 8 years. Though “replaced” is an interesting word. He only needs to “replace” one conservative justice to get the majority he wants. Who knows what plans he has for his “Civilian Security Force”

You are as crazy as a coon tick.

The majority does not want socialism, but conservatives need to do a much better job of (1) explaining what socialism is and why it is undesirable, and (2) providing candidates for public office that the public can and should admire.

I agree with you on most points, and I’m sorry for all the vile comments you’re getting. Over at DU, I’m sure they’re laughing at us here for being in such anger/disarray that we’re attacking each other. I see NOTHING wrong with ‘vanity’ comments right now, or at anytime, for that matter. Everyone needs to express their opinion. I never did understand the aversion to ‘vanity’ crap here anyway, and find it stupid-it stifles intelligent conversation more often than not.

Lets hope that the ‘fairness doctrine’ will be protected by that pesky first amendment. Its Its ironic that O supports this doctrine when the media was clearly in his corner throughout the entire election. I’m from NY and I have cancelled the New York Times since it went way overboard its support for Karl Marx Obama. I didnt complain, I just stopped reading. If you dont like what you see or hear on the radio or tv, CHANGE THE CHANNEL. ONe of the great things about our country is the ability to express our opinion and debate issues. As S. Hannity always says “...this is the year that media died....”.

I am, like the lady in Florida, so happy that 0bama is going to pay my mortgage, even, though I don’t have one. I am going out and buy a $500,000 house that 0bama can pay off. I am happy that 0bama is going to buy my gas, so that, I can go out and buy a Hummer, that 0bama is going to pay for, to help the unions. I am happy see so many young people joyous at having to pay for my retirement.

Well, when most kids don't have any idea how to balance their checkbook when they get out of college, not much surprises me.

You are absolutely correct. He was a likable "Black" man, and he stood for the nebulous concept of "change". Its not like EVERYBODY voted for him, heck, nearly half (47%) voted for the "other" guy, even with EVERYTHING that went wrong for him.

I hate these handwringing vanities. What we need is one or two threads of WHAT happened, Why, and where to go from here, thats all.

One thing I am interested in is Sarah's future. The EggHead-Cons are going to try to crush her. I am something of an egg head myself, but I think Sarah can ADD to her character, maybe studying up of foreign policy and economics, and 4 years hence emerge as a very strong force in the Republican party. I'd like to see that.

0be needs to explain how his plan is going to work much better than Mugabe’s. Me? I’m already on (an income and payroll tax) strike and going skiing for the winter. I don’t have the time to support 0be’s claptrap.

They will find other ways around it through Congress. The FCC still issues licenses. They can create new classes of licenses and make the cost of a license so expensive for stations that have a talk format - excluding NPR naturally - a station would have to change their format to stay in business

I don’t think this election turned on the socialism issue.

This election was about people of all stripes proving they were not racist. How else do you explain 30% of Republicans in some states voting for Obama?

“.....I didn’t start another vanity.”

No, but you certainly clicked in to see what it said and are now responding to posts. Your actions are condoning the vanity and bump it to the top every time you respond. Think about it.

Mega Dittos.

I was kidding about the Opus before, but now think it may be the best way to protest vanities (for those who REALLY care).

Ah yes! Find ways to silence those outside the “elites.”

Now where have I heard that before?

This is the “News/ACTIVISM” area. It’s not JUST for re-posts of news.

You have a point there. I should say the majority of VOTING Americans want Socialism.

Of what possible concern are the non-voters’ opinions?

No, I think the problem is Conservatives do not have an effective political advocate for our cause. The Republican Party has proven to be an epic fail in this regard.

I'm beginning to think that Reagan was the exception, not the rule, as an exemplar for Conservatism with the Republican Party.

Time to explore alternatives. The Dems have pulled hard left. The GOP is clueless and without bearings. Maybe it's time to form a coalition with Blue Dog Dems and Libertarians who are tired of the nanny state.

And after 12M illegal immigrants become citizens the lean toward socialism will be starker still.

The simple truth is that we as a nation elected a modern-day Gatsby, Fabian Stalinist to be our president yesterday. He’s conscious of not wanting to shift so drastically to the left that he loses his congress in two years and has shown great discipline for his ‘cause’. But the courts will change, the illegals will become voters, and our economic boom is over.

We took a swift one to our gut and worse, so we might as well acknowledge it and start to process it on our way to personal and political regrouping.
