The Great Rift Valley extends some 4,000 miles southward from Syria north of Israel, through the Gulf of Aqaba, through Ethiopia, and all the way to Mozambique in southeast Africa. It harbors a giant fault, which has been under investigation as a model for sea floor spreading. A recent geologic event rent a gaping crack through the desert of Ethiopia, causing safety concerns for locals. These crustal plate motions may foreshadow rifting events further north in the Great Rift Valley...

I've explained it but just can't quite get the math to work out. So I introduce the Hyperbole Drive and that makes it all work. Or at least better than Enterprise's Warp Engines.

Why would this be evidence in the future of the Mount of Olives getting torn from east-west.....separating the 2 parts as the north and south parts as the Bible claims.....when the rifts of the Great Rift Valley are north-south oriented, tearing the land into east-west parts....and the Mount of Olives is not on the rift zone...is about 15 miles from the rift zone??
Oh, right....this is evidence that, for no reason, the Great Rift Valley....meaning the divergence zone of 2 techtonic plates...is going to jump 15 miles to the west and, for no reason, creat perpendicular rifts that are not in the direction of the 2 diverging plates.

So you see this as evidence that the Great Rift Valley is going to jump 15 miles to the west and all of a sudden create rifts perpendicular to the diverging techtonic plates?

Perhaps you’re unaware of the fact that movement along major faults (plate boundaries) produces lateral faulting? (take a look at Chile for a good example)
You’re unaware of anything else, so no surprise.
Not when plates are DIVERGING......Chile is a junction of 4 plates, the Nazca, South American, and to a lesser extent the Scotia and Antarctic......all CONVERGING.
Whereas, the Rift Valley is caused by the Arabian plate DIVERGING from the African plate.
Faults that happen to be lateral of major faults occur on converging boundaries and transform boundaries.....not diverging boundaries......which is why the Great Rift Valley follows the plate boundaries and doesn’t jump 15 miles and 90 degrees in orientation compared to the fault line....and why the Red Sea is so linear.
You do know that this article is talking about geo-activies occuring at diverging plates.....don’t you?
....and “lateral fault” already has a definition that should not be perverted to meet your needs.

Actually, you caught me there! - I was working hurriedly dowm my pings, bumping threads, and didn't read even one of them. Had to get out to do some field work before the rain hit.
