Posted on 02/11/2010 8:26:49 AM PST by BornToBeAmerican

Who listened to Debra Medina on Beck and came away disgusted. She basically admitted that she is a 911 Truther.

Her run has ended

It’s poor analogy, because Sarah’s choice was being seen as ungrateful or a RINO. She obviously calculated she can overcome the RINO tag. Neither present her as being nuts though.

"Heck, I can understand where being a “twoofer” or a “birther” might have some significance in a race for national office,"

Has everything to do with sound rational thought, which obviously is germane to being Governor.

I heard it and had to turn it off, it was just too embarassing to listen to her evasive talk. In the matter of 2 minutes, her candidacy is blown out of the water.
What a kook.

We don’t need a governor who is a moonbat - from ANY state.

The elite country-club RINOs have been disparaging grassroot conservative activists with that crap for as long as I can remember.

I'm listening to this interview on YouTube right now, and frankly, I don't think Beck even rises to the lame journalism standards of Keith Olberman.
He's just another dumbed-down talk show host doing hatchet job "journalism" for a paycheck.

You were saying ...

There is NO SUCH THING as the perfect politician, folks. Even Ronald Reagan, my personal hero, didn't do a whole lot to stem the flood of illegal immigration.

No there's not, as you say. But, at the same time, sometimes all it takes is just "one thing" and the candidate is "knocked out of the running" -- and for good reason, too.

It would be like some candidate having an absolutely perfect stance on all conservative issues, except one -- and that one would be that the candidate believes in having sex with minors. It would be that one issue that would knock him out of the running. That's all it takes for some issues.

And the 9/11 Truther issue is one of those things...

Look carefully, you may see Medina in the crowd... LOL...

Some organizations in the nutty 9/11 Truther Movement

[ Caution: reading some of these nutty groups may cause blindness and brain tumors. Proceed with caution. This is probably what happened to Medina... :-) ... ]

Medina could have simply said, no, I don't buy that truther crap for one minute. End of story.

But she didn't, and basically said that some of the theories had credence. That's a truther. You need to deal with reality instead of whining about it.

So it’s Perry or Hutchinson. I don’t envy Texas — but that choice appears to be rather simple.

Perry's not great, but we've done OK under his leadership. Sometimes, he kind of starts to do boneheaded things, but does allow himself to be reined in most circumstances.

He's certainly a better pick than the other two.

Thousands maybe millions of government officials believe in global warming. Thousands maybe millions of government officials believe the constitution is deeply flawed and should be tossed out. Thousands and millions of them are devoted anti-capitalist, anti-Liberty, anti-America Marxists.

All of the believe in a free lunch on the taxpayer dime!

It is coming out loud and clear that Perry has (Obot) types out there that have been posting comments regarding 911 and Medina:

Now we know where all this is coming from:

Perhaps you saw this comment posted on a few Monday blog posts:

Medina all the way!!! She will speak the truth about 9/11. Namely, that Bush knew and that it was step one to boosting his bank account and his buddies’ war machine economy. Neither Perry nor Hutchison will speak this truth. Only Medina. It is also time to legalize marijuana now. Release all the drug possessors from prison. Only Medina is willing to admit this plan is the only way to balance the budget. Shut down our borders. Let nobody in, nobody out. Do NOT let any foreign goods on our soil. Root out the trilateral commission from the highest ranks of government and send them all to prison.

Well, check out some of the other comments from this same IP address:

Dec. 19: Perry has done a great job for veterans. Probably the most pro-veteran governor we have had in the modern era. Perry also IS a veteran, having served for more than half a dozen years.
Dec. 4: Rick Perry is awesome. Texas is the best state in America! WOOT!
Nov. 22: KBH is a liberal RINO. Perry needs to point that out early and often.
Nov. 8: Rick Perry is doing a heck of a job standing up to the liberals and keeping Texas the most prosperous state in the nation.

You need to reconcile yourself with reality. Medina could have simply responded that she didn’t buy that truther crapola. But she instead said that some of the theories have credence. Which makes her a truther and a nutbar. You can try and rationalize it away, but you’re only fooling yourself.

The government did everything in its power (as least with the power the Clintoons let the IC have, remember the Gorlick Memo Wall!) to stop terrorist attacks. Unfortunately the government was looking for the attack to occur overseas, like the Cole & the attack on the embassy in Kenya. The 9/11 terrorists took advantage of gaping security holes that have been in place for some time.
A couple of examples:

1. The moron Bush appointed to head INS who apparently thought that a national border was nothing more then a line drawn on a map, of no more consequence then a county boundary. (Note I am somewhat Pro-Bush, but I admit mostly because the alternatives were far worse!)

2. The terrorists exploited our naivety and stupidity regarding student visas.

3. The exploited the fact that we have this huge ponderous timid IC & DOD bureaucracy. (Now the individual soldier, sailors & marines and IC field officials are NOT timid by any means! However every step they take every thought they make is dragged down by what HQ & DC might think!. The fact that they can do anything and get it done is a testament to their patriotism and perseverance in the face of ever growing bureaucratic stupidity. Remember the Massoud’s question “Are then any men in Washington?”)
Actually I could go on.

Think about it !
Even with what I think was a cautious but at least proactive response by Bush, we have a suceeding administration talking about criminalizing the actions that mid-level functionaries took. We already have had several court martial of military guys, where the grounds for court martial were so weak they almost collapsed immediately.
Do you think any of this encourages proactive strong responses by low to high level USG functionaries in the IC, DOD or federal law enforcement?
Oh yes we have done this before, where we asked our Intel & spec ops guys to do things then after its done a new administration then turns on them and calls them criminals.
So please spare me the conspiracy claims!
Much of this we do to ourselves because of the fools we have allowed in power over the last 25 to 30 years. These fools then turn around and make the policy that the professionals have to live with and to try and make work while doing their agency's mission.
It's not 24 or NCIS I hate those shows, if people actually knew how difficult it was to actually do these jobs and still not violate all the regulations people would be appalled. Heck if 24 or NCIS actually showed their heroes realistically it would be bad TV but educational particularly for those who form their opinions from TV.

My rant is done!

If Medina was a serious and thoughtful candidate to be Governor of Texas she would have rephrased the question herself and answered it.

Example: (Medina) “Glenn, if you're asking me if I think our government was complicit in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, then the answer is an unequivocal and emphatic NO!”

Her numbers are gonna drop like a rock...rightfully so.
