A dozen House of Representatives Democrats opposed to abortion are willing to kill President Barack Obama's healthcare reform plan unless it satisfies their demand for language barring the procedure, Representative Bart Stupak said on Thursday.
"Yes. We're prepared to take responsibility," Stupak said on ABC's "Good Morning America" when asked if he and his 11 Democratic allies were willing to accept the consequences for bringing down healthcare reform over abortion.
"Let's face it. I want to see healthcare. But we're not going to bypass the principles of belief that we feel strongly about," he said.
The Michigan Democrat held up House legislation last year until he was satisfied that its language prevented federal tax dollars from being used to fund abortions.
No specific legislation has yet surfaced. Obama began a final push for reform on Wednesday, urging Congress to vote on the plan in the next few weeks even if it means passing the measure with a narrow Democratic majority and no Republican support.

Notwithstanding, National Review has turned decidedly pessimistic. Krauthammer thinks its going to pass the House. Catastrophe.
But I thought that they could not ammend the senate bill. They can just pass it or not. Right?
That means changing the bill, which would gum up their plans.
Keeps their base fired up...and keeps them from going over the cliff completely. Also covers the "incompetent" argument.
Still, I doubt they're SMART enough to take this opportunity.
I don’t know.
While in the grocery store a day ago, I overheard people discussing politics. They’re big-time pissed! When the public is standing around discussing politics in the aisles, there’s big trouble for RATs.
>> I overheard people discussing politics. Theyre big-time pissed!
Yes, people are becoming less reserved.
If they pass the senate bill its signed into law then the senate can refuse to remove the abortion funding in the “fix it” bill. Just my 2 cents
Krauthammer is quite confused on this issue. Very uncharacteristic of the generally right on the mark Charles K. What he said yesterday was, as you stated, Obamcare would pass in the House. OK so far. But hen he added "but it will fail in the Senate". Well if you have been following the various reconciliation threads today you will know that once the House passes the bill it becomes LAW as soon as Obama signs it. Krauthammer is no fool but he blew this one and I'm certain that someone has pointed it out to him. He won't make that mistake again.
I realized it was going to pass when I called my Virginia Senators to complain. Then it hit me. The Senate can’t do anything to stop it...they already passed it.
Obviously since VA senators passed it...what the heck can I ask them to do that will really help?
It’s really up to the House to pass it and once they do it’s done. Reconcilliation doesn’t matter. All that does is give some House members “cover” for what they want to see the bill look like and get some more kickbacks. But it’s over once the House passes this thing and it will pass.
We need to flood the House with targeted messages to each congresscritter that is possibly going to vote for it. We need to tell the pro-abortion lobby people that it better include free abortions. THen we need to tell the Stupak guys any money going to abortions is unacceptable. We need to tell the liberal rats if it doesn’t have a fully funded public option they might as well keep the existing system and avoid all the corrupt payoffs.
We need to play both sides off each other.
If the votes come up short for Pelosi. Will this be the wooden steak in the heart for ObamaCare?
And on the flip side, if it passes the House, what does the Senate look like? All they need is 50 becasue Biden is the tiebreaker.
I know that if this does pass and Obama signs it into law, it will the the Battle Cry for November, but I dont see the GOP getting a 60 vote in the Senate to overcome Obama’s VETO and by 2012.....in America sadly memory is short.
The bill that the House has to vote on HAS ALREADY PASSED IN THE SENATE. So if the House passes it and Obama signs it then ObamCare is THE LAW OF THE LAND.
The "Reconciliation Process" that only requires 51 votes in the Senate could then be used to, in effect, ammend that LAW OF THE LAND.
Bottom line: This has to be stopped in the House. Forget about the phantom Reconciliation Bill. It is a Red Herring.
I’ve seen very few Democrats who can’t be bought off.
RIGHT.

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
OK - is there a site that shows all the people in the House and does a guess-estimate on which way they are firm to vote one way or the other and leaning one way or the other?
Thanks for pointing out that the Senate - Nuculer Option is a Red Herring. ObamaCare lives or dies in the House.
They would, but ultimately they probably won’t. Better all the way around if the matter never comes up. And if it passes, everyone who voted in favor of it... Thanks Jet Jaguar.
If any one knows the list, I am interested to know if my donk is on it. Please post the names if you know
