At 85, Phyllis Schlafly has still got game.
The anti-feminist founder of the conservative Eagle Forum -- who counts Barry Goldwater's 1964 White House run and the 1982 death of the Equal Rights Amendment as exquisite victories and the "internationalist" presidencies of George Bush 41 and 43 as "not helpful to the Republican party" -- hasn't mellowed one whit.
That she made abundantly clear Thursday afternoon at the Conservative Political Action Committee conference in Washington.
Lord knows she still looks great, the poufy blonde hair perfectly lacquered, the fitted tweed jacket tricked out with her signature golden eagle brooch and tiny anti-abortion baby feet, her neck encircled by three stands of pearls and a chain from which dangled a cross of gold.

Well with that statement, I have no hesitation in writing that you have now proven yourself to be a malicious and notorious liar.
Well I don’t think it’s clear that it’s blind loyalty in the first place. I think she was asked for, and explicitly promised him, that degree of support, and as a conscientious Christian she is keeping the promise. Whatever can be said about the arrangement, it seems Hayworth is a more damaged candidate than any layman knew, and Sarah now has McCain’s ear (which is almost certainly why he has tacked as rightward as he has).
It wasn’t so much the “media attacks” as it was the bogus ethics complaints (sometimes several a DAY!) that were bankrupting her and her family. They’ve ALL been dismissed, which shows you what the Left was up to.
I'm not drunk enough to bend my mind around it, and there's only one Moosehead left in the fridge . . . because you would only vote for a Thatcher-like woman, the 19th Amendment should be repealed, and no women at all should be allowed to vote? You are a very amusing character.

Democrat Hillary Clinton lost to Barack Obama because "people don't want to elect a feminist because they are not likeable. You have to be likeable to be elected." She paused a moment before musing that "the best route is probably being a governer," never mind that at this moment, "the pickings among [women] governors are very slim."
Ditto, apparently, among female ex-governors. "Sarah Palin is the total package. She's got a cute husband. She's got a lot of kids."
But is she ready to be president? "I don't think so."
Is this the best you can come up with? It's obvious that you have personal issues with the idea of a woman president...ok, we get it. Try posting an article that can make an argument for your position - one that is provocative or original. You just either really dislike Sarah Palin, or maybe have issues with women/authority figures? I guarantee you that a majority of FReepers are dedicated to electing conservatives, not any particular flavor, just conservatives.
I heartily disagree with Mrs. Schlafly about women governors. Her comment ignores the standout heroine in our country today - Jan Brewer.

Do you understand how much the woman was spending on lawyers fighting trumped up lawsuits?
I love Sarah, I think she is damaged goods and can’t make it to be president. I pray she can be put into a place that benefits us. But Damn, that’s a liberal statement, not a conservative one.
I don’t know why you dislike Palin but stepping down from the Governorship isn’t it. You should realize that it has worked out well for Palin and for Alaska. She did the right thing and we all know it; you can play to the ignorant with that line, about her quitting, but it’s propaganda and this is the wrong crowd to be affected by it in my opinion.
“Feminist” is an awful “broad” brush (pun thrown in to make good ole boys giggle as characteristic). Some women God has placed in an advantageous position with respect to the good of the country. In some sense, yes it would be better if we had an actually willing and able man waiting in the wings having national recognition. But we have to play the hand we’re dealt, not the hand we wish we had.

Here’s the thing that makes me fume: Each and every one of these Palin bashers screaming that “she quit” would wrinkle their noses up at her as she lied there on the ground broke, exhausted, and her family and state in tattered ruins at the end of her term. As if the liberal media and the water-carriers here would empathize with Palin and proudly say that she “stood strong” against the ongoing ethics violations. Hell no, they would treat her like some homeless bum in New York.
