LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Dozens of undocumented immigrants were taken into custody Friday morning, and two men were arrested for holding them against their will.

Authorities said 35 immigrants, including a 12-year-old boy, were discovered in a home on La Rica Avenue in Baldwin Park.

Officials arrested the two alleged captors Thursday night. Both men are from Guatemala and were taken into federal custody.

When officials arrived, they found 30 juvenile males and five adult females inside an 800-square-foot home.

Officials said the hostages were being held at the house until family members paid a ransom for their release.

According to authorities, all of the immigrants were smuggled into the country from Mexico and Central America.

“They were sold out by their own government.”

***Yes they did and actually it was $15,000,000 and included a lot more then just California.***

The US captured all of Mexico, then paid the Mexican government to give up all claim to just the area north of the Rio Grande and Salt, or Gila rivers, the later purchased he Gadsen area of Arizona.

That $15,000,000 was in GOLD. Later the US bought the Gadsen Purchase area for more, again in GOLD.

Mexico gave up ALL CLAIM to the areas bought.

I recall reading that, at the time, many mexicans believed it was actually a clever American plot allowing Santa Anna to return to mexico

"Never attribute to malice that which may be adequately explained by stupidity"...

It does illustrate mexico's fine old tradition of blaming America for all their problems, though.

I refer to them as Illegal Insurgent Criminal Invading Colonists.

They are trying to colonize the USA.

IMO it’s an act of war.

All true. But if we are being honest about this, it was done at the point of a gun.

But isn’t that what many of the Hispanics are rallying about? They want the kidnapping, rape, and ransom situations to continue to their fellow countrymen?? I mean, they could rally to shut the borders so a more human way for them to get here could be developed but that’s not what they want.

***All true. But if we are being honest about this, it was done at the point of a gun.***

A little more background..Texas wins independence from Mexico, claims the Rio Grande as the border. Mexico says no, it’s the Nueches river.

Great Britain recognizes Texas and the Rio Grande border, suggests a treaty between Canada, Texas and Mexico against the US. Probably because the Oregon teritories ar heating up.(54-40 or Fight).

Texas is horrified about turning against the US, calls for statehood. The US agrees, seeing the “back door” is open and rushes troops to the Rio Grande, because the biggest power in the word, Great Britain says it is the Texas border, and builds a fort.

Mexico begins bombarding the fort, kills an American soldier named BROWN. and the war is on...

Basicly, Mexico sold the northern territories to get the Americans to leave Mexico.

Ain’t history great!

We are on the same page and have no disagreement with anything you have said.

The only point of my original post, on this thread, was to point out that saying "Mexico sold California to the US." and not even mention the war that was fought prior to the sale ignores a very important factor that led up to the sale.
