Watched it last night, Thought that it was "kind-of " interesting?
Yep, I actually watch this show. I’ve learned a lot. It is pretty interesting to watch how people sabotage themselves and are unwilling to face it.
Nope No “connection”. Last night’s COX Cable line-up WAS LAME! So I watched this.
“Anone that is thinking about getting into the food or bar industry can maybe pick-up some good tips from this guy.”
LOL...his ideas arent new...it’s just that that they work..
Know your customer.
Provide good service.
Keep your place clean.
Watch your money like a hawk.
I almost bought a neighborhood bar a few years ago....but the smoking ban pretty much killed the neighborhood bars here...
And having watched my aunts run a great money making bar into the ground doesnt help either...
“The reason I ask, is if your bar is failing, and you ask for help like this show to come in and tell you what is wrong and how to fix it, why in heavens name are you going to argue with the people trying to help?”
Because “Reality TV” has very little reality in it.The producers run the show and are involved in and often times do everything up to and including writing the plots and “actor’s” lines for these shows.
Peoples’ lives are generally very boring to everyone involved. If you don’t believe me, tell your neighbors you want to show them all your old home movies next Saturday night. Bet you screen them to an empty house.
LOL...you cant fake years of grime and neglect...
the curious thing to see is how many are still in business...
What is the actual success rate after the make over...
Same here, too bad Irene was a No-acane it would have been neat to see Nuevo York washed clean for a change. Betn the cable cos made good “stimulas’ money with all the over-coverage.
The same ol drama is wearing thin on all these type shows, even a interesting one Son of a Gun, turned into a soap opera. Then again “Dow-Corning Ho’s Mud Wrestling with Catfish” might keep our attention.
My husband started watching it about three weeks ago and I watched along, I do find it interesting. Either the owner of the bar or the “chef” are not receptive to “change”.
The bar from last night’s show, The Bone (formerly The Chicken Bone), is where Obama’s illegal immigrant uncle was arrested this past week.
to me it just looks like Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares with more booze
Oh I am sure there is some manufactured drama, but I agree... hard to fake the ick and ewww some of the places were/are.
I wonder if there is a place that keeps statics on the places after the make over, I would like to see how many keep it up and how many revert. I know the one place... The champaign bar.. some thing bubbles, was renamed Sheer and then after the show they went back to the old name.
I Tivo’d last night episode, I may have to go watch since is was pointed out down thread that where the Boy King’s illegal alien uncle was when he got busted.
I saw my first Kitchen Nightmare this weekend. Woof!
You know, I actually would be interested in seeing them do a show and leave the drama out. I bet a bunch of people would tune in just to see them all pitch in and make it work. I am over the “over dramatized” reality shows. Just show us a place that asked for help, wants that help, and then how to make it happen in 5 days, with experts.
I would love it if someone, owner/manager/decision maker would tell their staff “buy in, or buy out”. If you don’t want to do it to make it work, there’s the door. In this economy I bet they could find people that actually wanted to work, to come in and buy in to the process.
I’ve watched three or four episodes. The “fixer” is tough and no-nonsense. The “fixees” are amazingly ignorant of common sense and business know-how. I can’t say whether it’s real or manufactured drama - but there’s always drama in every episode. I would assume as some have suggested, the producers encourage the drama to make the show interesting.
I really enjoy this show. Some people have compared it to Kitchen Nightmares but I think it is much better. Kitchen Nightmares touches on the quality of the food and the cleanliness of the kitchen but Bar Rescue actually treats the place like a business. Talking about costs and the average bill per customer etc... Its like an “Entrepreneur 911” where an expert comes in and turns a small business around (and not just a cooking show). Its interesting how many of the lessons on how to run a bar translate to other kinds of businesses.
I’ve seen it in the past, and thought it was interesting.
I watched about 3 minutes of it last night but the bar owner was in such denial, and obviously gonna fight every suggestion, I didn’t want to invest any more time in “stupid”. (The one about the Chicken Bone, with the flames shooting out of the chicken’s patootie on the sign outside.)
BUT, most of these bars are just absolutely, horrifyingly filthy to begin with. Even after the re-hab, if any locals were to watch the program about “their” bar, they’d probably be too nauseated to eat there. I know I would be.
One of my new favorite shows! I really like seeing someone who is struggling get back on their feet and on the path to success.
The advice and corrective actions all seemed well-founded and to fit with what I recall of the neighborhood bars that my grandfather used to own and run in the Orlando area several decades ago.
Saw a few of them. Can you believe the man/owner did not know what his expenses were? No wonder he’s losing money, he was prolly being robbed blind, going out the back door
Forgot to mention, he prolly had a good health inspection rating by county government workers, too....most h.i. don’t inspect real well/or overlook alot, esp if they get kickbacks
Anyone who thinks these new "reality" shows are unscripted are delusional.........I'm not trying to demean you or your post, I'm just making an observation.
Kinda like these survival reality shows that are popping up that show some moron climbing a rock cliff and slipping or some other such crap. Anyone ever consider how the cameraman got in his position to film the "life threatening" slip?.....LOL!
