Fox: Staten Island people in the streets fighting one another for food, water, clothing
Fox News Live | 11/2/12

Posted on 11/02/2012 7:13:59 AM PDT by pabianice

The excremental liberal press is boycotting coverage of this to protect Obama but Fox is covering it. Staten Island has received zero help after four days. Bloomberg has stolen three huge generators to power marathon tents and given no help to the people of Staten Island. The entire borough is a ruined disaster. No food, no water, no gasoline, the homeless wandering across the island with no shoes, no socks, injured, starving, crying for help from camera crews. People fighting one another over dumpster garbage. Death toll rising.

Another Liberal success story.

You know it's bad when you see a tanker washed part way upon the shore.

On Long Island, the poorer and sketchy neighborhoods are getting their power turned on first, and I have driven through some of the wealthy neighborhoods and there are no Red Cross, no power, no traffic lights - just a few National Guard driving around.

Same thing in Rockaway. Help is beginning to arrive ... at the city's housing projects. Maybe it's a good thing ... lowers the chance of rioting. The wealthier areas on the west end, Neponsit, Belle Harbor, etc are still on their own.

You are correct, after looking it up.

What do you bet that in the absence of the marathon event that the generators would have been rented by NY municipal authorities to help with the outages.

"I have already discussed with my insurance agent what would happen if my home was totally destroyed. File the claim and within 24 hours I’ll have a check for $5000 to get me settled. Yeah, I am a prepper."

Hahahah OK there Sparky. Relying on an Insurance company to bail you out in a SHTF situation....

Your Prepper Cred just pegged zero...

Not an easy thing to do evacuate 150 miles inland on mass transit.

It sure isn't.

Rockaway still has no power (100%) and homeless people

Still??! A barrier island with no seawall, four days after a hurricane and 14 ft. storm surge still has no power? And you say homes there are uninhabitable?

Send an angry letter to the Times.

Are there airports on Staten Island?

No, but it doesn't matter. Liberty International in NJ is only 4 miles from the bridge to there.

I just spoke with a friend in Brooklyn. East 71st st in BayRidge. Their home is fine except for a soggy basement. They had four feet of water in there from the surge. Tomorrow morning the crew will be there to strip out the sheet rock and appliances so everything can dry. 100% coverage.Yup, flood insurance is handy to have.

My apologies. Rockaway has a crumbling, unmaintained 50 year old breakwater built to a height of 9 ft. above mean high water. Sandy’s storm surge came in at 14. (Katrina’s came in at 30. ) Those with flood insurance should have their checks shortly.

Most people who build on barrier islands put their homes on pilings. A word to the wise.

The boardwalk was older - my mother and grandmother in 1924

Houses are built on stilts - bayside - on the water

Oceanside, it's hard to build apartment buildings on stilts. But thanks for your suggestion.

Those who have private oceanfront homes - valued in the millions - are well insured.

Watching what has happened in NE, NYC in particular, has saddened me a great deal.

Mostly because of the devastation but, also, the cloak of innocence that is being bestowed on Obama and his administration.

Heckuva job, there, Janet.

See posts 33, 37, 71, and 72. Staten Island might not be quite as bad as the impression you get from the article.

Flood insurance is a weird thing B4

Here in Music City you have to be in the actual plain or get an overlay waiver

Im surprised someone in Bay Ridge would be eligible....given a lot of there and Bensonhurst are high ground

But aside from beachfront or alluvial dirt....its cheap and nice

I carry 2m on a car wash in zone....mandated by the bank

700/yr
