MY HEAD is exploding! I am done with this organization! They are fighting against a Convention of States. The very thing that is number one thing on my list of things to support. Captain Cynic and I have supported and volunteered for NAGR. This is more than the end of that support.

One by one, our Constitutional safety valves are being dismantled, and as each one is mocked or ignored, we take another step toward an explosion of civil war.

There two seeming facts on which I linger. 1) An Article V convention has never been held, and thus explanations of how things would go in such cannot possibly be put down to “don’t worry about it, and 2) given the state of the evil and deviousness of the opposition and their insane ability to throw vast sums of money at any obstacle they encounter, doesn’t not give me the warm fuzzies with regard to such a convention’s outcome.

Were there only two choices between one of these and complete revolution, I’d choose the latter. IOW, I don’t trust any organized group any more.

So, instead of following the constitution, we need to rewrite it. And you trust our current batch of commies and robber barons to rewrite it.

I said nothing of the sort. Show me where? I don’t trust anyone in today’s government to do anything right, but that doesn’t mean I’ll believe an untried solution will work either. COS has not been done. Revolution has.

Many of my FRiends have put things into words so well. Here is one excellent example for you. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3267858/posts?page=59

Mark Levin's book “The Liberty Amendments” is awesome and I have provided copies to many. Please consider reading that as well.

I’ve come to support the constitutional convention not because it will succeed but because it will fail and through that spectacular failure States will finally have the opportunity to break free from this doomed union. There is no incremental fixing of the the mess in DC especially with the kinds of worthless GOP pretending to take the lead there. We need an independent Stats of America. We can keep some of the conveniences of travel and trade but the Central government needs to go.

I wasn’t referencing your comment specifically, just the entire concept of the COS. As hard as our current government works to weasel out of the constitution, I don’t trust them to actually screw with it. Matt Bracken spells out how he thinks that would look in “Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista (The Enemies Trilogy #2)”

If only the Founders were as smart and trustworthy as today’s politicians, then we wouldn’t have all the problems we see nowadays.”

Literally the opposite of what the CoS people are saying. What they are actually saying is:

“Thank God the founders were smart enough to allow us to alter the Constitution to undo damage done to it by later generations.”

More of the same JBS propaganda. They can’t come up with anything new, so they repeat. Ad infinitum.

It really sickens me when someone who claims to be a conservative is so focused on one single issue. It's like the pack of idiots (myself included) that allowed ourselves to be pulled along by the nose by Grover Norquist because he was the official voice of lower taxes.

How did that all work out for us?

This guy is afraid of runaway convention!

There will be safeguards against that sort of things such as keeping the politicians out of it, limit it to what issues will be looked at and changes if needed. Term Limits.

And add some things to keep somebody like Obama and the like totally out of our government.

Your gun group may be kept out of it due to your attitude.

When the first thing in an article is to give a concept a dirty name 'Con-Con' I'm wary. This is a constitution option, just because its never be used doesn't mean anything.

The real problem it that officials are exceeding the authority and congress is not cutting the money off. If a CoS will correct this I'm for it.

If you believe that, I have the Brooklyn Bridge to sell.

There are at least two safeguards. The first is a legislature can limit their delegation to certain acts. But let’s say the delegates ignore this and the state legislature doesn’t respond and at worse a runaway convention occurs.

They still need to get 2/3 approval by state.

If you’re that much of a pessimist that we’ll fair then I absolutely don’t want you on my side if bullets start flying.

"So, instead of following the constitution, we need to rewrite it. And you trust our current batch of commies and robber barons to rewrite it."

Even if the words and principles in the Constitution could be made more perfect, how do you change the souls of those who refuse to obey the document in the first place. Yes an A5 convention is a legitimate tool of change provided for in the Constitution, and yes the Republic is in peril, but I fear the unintended consequences of such an event.
