March for Science rallies take aim at climate change skepticism, proposed budget cuts

Federal scientist cooked climate change books ahead of Obama presentation, whistle blower charges.

Trump critics say they are concerned about the president’s proposed cutbacks for the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Institutes of Health, his administration’s skepticism about the cause of climate change and other science-related issues.   However, organizers say the march was political but not partisan -- to in fact promote the understanding of science and defending it from attacks, including a proposed 20 percent cutback at the NIH.

"It's not about the current administration,” said co-organizer and public health researcher Caroline Weinberg. “The truth is we should have been marching for science 30 years ago, 20 years, 10 years ago. … The current (political) situation took us from kind of ignoring science to blatantly attacking it. And that seems to be galvanizing people in a way it never has before.”

The rallies, coinciding with Earth Day, were held in more than 500 cities worldwide including New York, Chicago and Geneva.

Sure, anyone who doesn't believe in global warming is anti-science. Sure...

So which is it, a march for science or the religion of global warming?

Almost all of the protesters are Federal employees given leave by supervisors. Media, do your job! Investigate this stuff and see WHO is actually protesting.

Climate change has been going on since earth was born 4.5 Billion years ago. There have been ice ages followed by global warming. Rinse and repeat a few thousand years apart, based on sun spots activity. Anyone who does not believe in climate change is an ignoramus.

And anyone who believes climate change is strictly MAN MADE, is the biggest blithering IDIOT. Man has been present on earth for like 0.1% of earth’s total life.

Cut the budget for protesters and we won’t have this problem.

It's kind of funny - a "March for Science" ... as if science is a victim group. The mere application of the emotion and politics of a 'march' is all you need to know that the science the left pushes ... is not science at all, but an attempt to write the word 'science' in big black magic marker over the word 'propaganda.'

More lipstick on a pig from the left.

Real Scientists don’t have time for political marching

.....but MOSTLY about budget cuts I expect. The science is secondary. Start providing huge grants that dispute the false religion, and they’ll suddenly find the “science” to prove they were mistaken before.

If you look at the NIH budget for research funding (a very interesting read...), there are global warming categories that are funded in the millions. Why are these part of the National Institute of Health budget?
https://report.nih.gov/categorical_spending.aspx
Climate Change $7M
Climate-Related Exposures and Conditions $154M
Global Warming Climate Change $6M
I’m sure these are tucked into every single budget for every single department as ‘mandatory’. This would be a good place to start cutting....the parasites have managed to infiltrate every corner of govt. It goes on and on but these decisions are all on the down-low and most people are just interested in trying to make better lives for themselves and their families so we rely on our elected officials to make the right decisions...

I have a close relative who’s invested in HIV/AIDS research. If you look at the budgets for all the different “health” depts., there is ~ 5x’s as much money spent on HIV/AIDS than heart disease/breast cancer/ALS/Alzheimer’s (which has all affected loved ones personally) combined it’s just unbelievable how we’re being hoodwinked.

And the fact that anyone who actually looks at the “evidence” and ISN’T skeptical, is not doing science.

Richard Feynman is spinning in his grave.

Ah, the march for consensus. Science has nothing to do with the march.

I don’t think the federal office cubbie workers do much work on Saturday (or any other day). We had a small march here today and it looked like typical leftist hoi polloi.

Shows how little you know. Lots of overtime on Saturday for work not done during the week.

I tried to “work” once in a sinecure situation. They had to staff at a certain level by law (one of the sillier provisions) and guess what, I was the lucky one, until I actually wanted to git-r-done. Then I was out the door.
