A senior ally of President Vladimir Putin warned on Thursday that any Ukrainian attacks on missile launch sites inside Russia with arms supplied by the United States and its allies would risk a nuclear response from Moscow.
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, now deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, said that some Ukrainian military commanders were considering hitting missile launch sites inside Russia with Western-supplied long-range missiles.
He did not name the commanders or disclose more details of the alleged plan and there was no immediate reaction from Ukraine to his threat.

That’s what Biden wants................
The nuclear launch sites may well be programmed to provide advanced warning when missiles are on their way and automatically trigger a launch. This thought comes from a nuclear layman. What say you nuclear pro’s???
Biden is not in charge. To call him a puppet would be to denigrate puppets the world over. God help us if the’ masters’ want WW 3
Why do you think the ‘masters’ are all building bunkers in the remote places?
They know what’s coming and when.
They want a planet of subservient morons to serve them after they emerge from hiding. Reduce to population by 80% and then they will be the ones in control..............
Not clear in the article, but if this refers to ICBM sites being targeted, it is hard to see how Russia could avoid launching them.
This is what early warning is for. Your ICBMs are targeted by incoming threats, you have to launch them. How could you not? They are your deterrent.
This isn’t about attacking Russian nuclear sites it is a threat from Russia to Ukraine that if Ukraine tries to destroy the attack sites that are launching missiles at Ukraine’s cities then Putin will start WWIII nuclear War.
The survivors would do the future a great service if they welded the doors of these bunkers shut after the megalomaniacs went into hiding.
And it occurs to me that if the article did not mean Russian ICBM sites, but sites of other missiles fired into Ukraine, then there is no great reason for Russia not to base those shorter range missiles with the ICBMs.
They gain a measure of immunity by doing so. An upgraded level of immunity vs based on a school.
That isn’t what the article says. You twisted it.
I didn’t twist anything, that is what I thought the article said.
I haven’t made coffee yet and maybe misread it, is the article about attacking Russian nuclear sites?
They are dreaming. Most likely the guards will take over. Any survivors will kill them the instant they see them.
Terminology.
Not nuclear sites.
ICBM sites. ICBM sites certainly have to launch if targetted, and as I just noted, if the intention of the article was missiles that are not ICBMs then there is no reason Russia can not base them next to the ICBMs.
Incoming threats then force an ICBM launch.
So, what’s the point in posting this? Do you think the Russian nukes are substandard and that we should try to defeat them in nuclear war?
Nuke Kiev and the rest of the world will soil its diapers like Biden soils his every day.
Launch sites for missiles or aircraft actively being used for attack are fair game.
Likewise would be radar or support elements. If Russia has any of these assets co-located with elements of their nuclear triad, or ABM battle-management systems, it could be dicey. They do have a “Dead Hand,” system which might have some kind of launch-on-warning or launch-on-attack mode.
Tell Medvedev to put down the vodka bottle.
I still don’t see what you guys are talking about, this is Russia saying they will launch nuclear weapons if Ukraine tries to interfere with the sites that Russia is using to attack Ukraine’s cities with conventional missiles.
In July it was threatening WWIII nuclear war for something else.

Nuland and the ISW folks, dreaming that the spoils of war will fall to the West, without considering that this may well not be the case.
When one plays a game of bluff, it better be in poker. Playing a game of bluff with MAD is just plain stupid.
