Seems like in the past few days the mission of the Canteen has been forgotten.

USO CANTEEN FREEPER STYLE MISSION STATEMENT
Showing support and boosting the morale of
our military and our allies military
and the family members of the above.
Honoring those who have served before.

The most blatant offense of the above statement was at the end of a thread the other day that had to be deleted.
An active duty FReeper had come in to tell us the latest about his wife and soon to be baby.
When he said he liked a certain thread he was insulted by someone
who had spent most of the day on a thread they said they did not like.
Who he was or who the person who insulted him are not important now.
Many watched the drama unfold before the thread was pulled.
AT THE SAME TIME another Canteen thread (older one) was attacked
by an anti-Bush, anti-military type FReeper.
Luckily Admin deleted that post and banned that FReeper.
Understand that there are those who come to the Canteen with the sole purpose
of starting trouble to get FReepers to argue with each other.
Their purpose is to discredit the Canteen mainly because it is
VERY supportive of the Commander-in-Chief and the military.
These are the same type of people who you see in the anti-war protests.
Mark my words, when the 2004 elections start expect more attacks on the Canteen.
Even though the Canteen is non-political it represents a threat to some.
Please use your head and do not engage those
who just stop in the Canteen to disrupt from the Canteen Mission.
If the Canteen is "not for you" please move onto another thread.

If you ever not sure what is"right" to post, just read the Mission Purpose
then it will become quite clear if your post belongs here.

Remember 1000's of military read the thread(s) each week.
That is the sole reason why we are here each day.

No, it's the same as it always was: A place where a threadrunner can play bigshot and thump their chests "for the troops," no matter how self-serving they're really being. Pick fights with other posters "for the troops." Tell the other posters to leave, "for the troops." Start debate "for the troops." end it for the same reason.

Criticize the threadrunner, and "the troops" get caught in the crossfire, because that's who they're hiding behind. Real brave. Real American.

Meet the new fraud, same as the old fraud.
