Rush: "..No way MoveOn.org can even match Free Republic"

Did anyone else here happen to hear Rush mention Free Republic around 1:20 PM Eastern time? I was taping his program, but the tape ran out just as he mentioned us. To the best of my ability, I'll try to remember how he led into it:

In the context of telling everyone to quit worrying about moveon.org, and the influence they have with people, he said that if you want to see what REAL influence is, just let Drudge turn his site over to activism and you will see "REAL influence".

He said that if he decided to have another "Dan's Bake Sale" type event --- you would also get to see "REAL influence".

Then he said, "Heck --- no way moveon.org can even match Free Republic" for REAL influence.

Dunno. Doesn't sound like that great a compliment. Sorta like, "heck, the Iraqis can't even beat the French" kinda sentiment...

I heard that moveon.org claims 1.4 million members.

They were probably victims of a cyber attack, and counted the hits from a denial of service attempt as users trying to contact their site

Maybe they attacked their own site and then reported the numbers.

Many a time I have seen Rush take the same topic as previously discussed on "hot" FreeRepublic threads.

Rush has used FR for years, without giving us any credit.

Don't be so obtuse. Rush had Clinton's a liar on his show several times; most notably prior to the March for Justice in Oct '98.

Someone needs to email Rush and ask that they leave the link up their permanently, or at least for the next few days. FR supports him and he should support us. We are all in this fight together!

He's had other FREEPERs on too; that isn't at all what I was talking about. He has used FR, for years, as part of his show prep; however, he hasn't ever given FR much of a nod for having the reams of info it does.

The Alexa figures only show traffic referred by Alexa searches, I have never figured out why anyone trusts Alexa. If someone comes to FR by just typing in the url, Alexa wont register that.

You are so right...If, I understand you correctly. Without Rush, there would probably be no FreeRepublic, or FreeRepublic as we know it. I've learned alot from Rush, although, you could say Rush took the words right out of my mouth. Except he has a gift of communicating and placing the words right where they belong.

No doubt about it. Rush got the ball rolling for conservatism.

Scary how you change from "Rush doesn't aknowledge us" to that stream of consciousness post.

Any change you can stay on topic and finish one conversation before you move on to another. If not, you're just rambling, and are not holding a conversation.

In the meantime, I will stick to the topic and say that Rush has given FR credit when it's due. What do you want him to do, legally adopt Jim Robinson? Me? holdonnow? Regis Philbin?

Rush would need to namedrop daily ,if he gave FreeRepublic credit when it was due. Even, I think that would be over doing the favor.

I don't doubt that Rush or his producer hit FR every day, but my sense is that most of his show prep is not derived from FR.

One thing for sure, his opinion on a story is most often more insightful than the thread on FR. We're all reading it and he finds the hidden meaning no one else sees or he takes what we are all "feeling" but can't explain why and puts into clear perspective with a few sentences.
