Rush: "..No way MoveOn.org can even match Free Republic"
Rush Limbaugh Radio Program ^ | July 7, 2003 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 07/07/2003 10:43:40 AM PDT by Matchett-PI

Did anyone else here happen to hear Rush mention Free Republic around 1:20 PM Eastern time? I was taping his program, but the tape ran out just as he mentioned us. To the best of my ability, I'll try to remember how he led into it:

In the context of telling everyone to quit worrying about moveon.org, and the influence they have with people, he said that if you want to see what REAL influence is, just let Drudge turn his site over to activism and you will see "REAL influence".

He said that if he decided to have another "Dan's Bake Sale" type event --- you would also get to see "REAL influence".

Then he said, "Heck --- no way moveon.org can even match Free Republic" for REAL influence.

More and more lately, I have been reading articles on FR, and then, a couple of hours later (or sometimes only a few minutes later), I hear Rush reading from those same articles on his radio show. Its possible that its just coincidence, but I think he's been going to FR for show prep for some time now.

I heard this too. Actually, when Rush was talking about the so-called move of the left to take over the internet, I couldn't help but think of Ann Coulter's book Slander where she points out all the different conservative sites on the net that are doing GREAT. Free Republic is on that list. Right after that, Rush mentions us. What a day to be a Freeper!

Rush still on it and said he can't believe some of the stuff that is happening.

Neither do I or most conservatives can't either....

My #68 still stands.

Kind of makes you wonder how he managed to put his show together for almost a DECADE BEFORE FREE REPUBLIC EXISTED.

No offense meant to el Rushbo, my friend, just a little FR bragging and an admission of the obvious, he DOES, many times, touch on topics that have ALREADY been 'hot' on FR. Nothing wrong with a confluence of interest, is there?

As to him taking any tidbits from FR, Bravo, yahoo and good on ya Rush. We've taken many from him. I've been a long time subcriber to his show and a long time listener.

I heard that moveon.org claims 1.4 million members.

So what? They've only got one point of view, and it's WRONG!

1. Since when do FReeprs own the articles they snag from online news site?

2. If, as a fellow conservative, I come up with a thought that is later echoed by RL...does that mean he's reading my mind and guilty of plagiarism or are we just of the same mindframe due to our common beliefs?

and finally..3. Many have tried to imitate the master...and there is noone here or elsewhere that could do what he does. It takes more talent than the ability to cut and paste news articles to run a show like his.

Heard that on Rush... guess he stopped dissing FReepers finally. I was stunned when he presented that buck-toothed cartoon of the 'typical FReeper' a few years ago.

Hope y'all are well.

Missed hearing Rush's comments.

After the Impeachment of clintoon I recall hearing one of the House Managers (at the Tribute Dinner Rally) say that he would lurk on FR whenever he felt discouraged...it recharged his batteries and gave him encouragement to continue on.

FR has mega influence!

Maybe, but it's listing to port dramatically. Those of us who cautioned about Bush's not being a conservative were reassured, in tones ranging from hushed to screaming, that he only said those things to get elected. Once elected, he wouldn't be like Daddy, but more conservative. Since we had no other realistic candidate, and since we hadn't given up at that time, we voted for him. Others with my reservations didn't--they left, either voluntarily or involuntarily. FR is poorer without them.

Now what can we say about George? We were right; you were wrong.

This must mean that Bush really endorses and approves of all these big government programs that force Americans to work more and more for the government and less and less for themselves.

snip

During the whole 2000 campaign, I can't tell you the number of people who had a prejudicial, anti-W attitude based on his dad. They said, "He's not conservative! He's just like his father: a moderate who'll go with the flow." I kept assuring them that the son was a different animal - and I still think he is in a vast number of ways. But some of this stuff is inexplicable and distressing. It's not what I thought was going to end up happening. Like I said last week: if you would have told me in the 80s or 90s that a Republican in the White House with a Republican majority in the House and Senate would pass the largest spending program in 40 years, I wouldn't have believed it.
