Yikes! This could be ugly...

Why is it the Saudi's keep popping up around this terrorism thing? And why the heck were we so quick about shipping out relatives of Bin Laden.

The "it's for their safety" angle doesn't feel right.

Hmmmm.....

"Our friends" murdered 3000 Americans and then were allowed to purchase the chairman of the 911 investigation.

Apparently Americans will tolerate anything.

Richard Clark was the former White House cybersecurity czar. What position he would be in to permit Saudis to leave the country immediately after the 911 attacks is questionable. The imporant thing to keep in mind is that he is an ex-White House staffer and the currently employed WH personel operate under a virtual cone of silence.

They had nothing to hold them on, and yes, they could have been targets.
If the WH had not let them leave, we could have been forced into WWIII within days. It would have started a HUGE Holy war.
I wish they were in prison myself.

This is the kind of stuff I think the Democrats are holding close to the vest. When the '04 election comes around, expect a lot of this stuff to pop up. The Democrats are already sounding the drumbeat that Bush cannot be trusted. I think they will start dropping this stuff along the way.

Sorry... I still don't see the story here. So some Saudis who had no known ties to terrorists... left the country. So what?

This is a non-issue. Not every Saudi is a terrorist.

If a drunken embassador from Peru runs you over in his big, black Mercedes, you're going to the hospital and he's getting hauled back to Lima.

Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York, seized on Mr. Clarke's comments to call on the White House to conduct an investigation into the hasty departures of about 140 Saudis from the United States in the days after the attacks.

Gee Senator Schummer .. Nice to see you comment about the Bin Laden family.

Just wondering if you and the NYT will comment and ask for investigations for the 12 times that Bill Clinton turned a blind eye getting Bin Laden himself??

Will You and the NYT ask Bill Clinton why he FAILED as a leader of this country by failing to stop Bin Laden himself???

When are you and the NYT going to ask Bill & Hellary Clinton .. WHAT DID THEY KNOW AND WHEN DID THEY KNOW IT???

If Senator Schummer and the NYT REALLY cared .. they would ask these questions ...

That is if they aren't aren't afraid to

So, Schumer is more anti-House of Saud than the GOP? Ok, that makes sense.

This is an old story. We all knew this happened shortly after 9-11. What's the big deal now??

Yes it is real. It was widely reported soon after the 911 attack by Michael Ruppert and others who have chronicled the exact time line of the events of that day. Do you remember the AF General who was on the news (very briefly) stating that the orders to "stand down" came from the office of "highest accord". He's probably reading weather maps at the south pole now.

Our jets were told to sit on the runways and burn fuel for 40 minutes, while this was going down.

The fact that relatives of Mr. bin Laden and other Saudis had been rushed out of the country became public soon after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Yes, it happened. AND it has been discussed. Vanity Fair dredging it up as if it's new.

Schumer best hope the bin Laden family that lived here had nothing to do with Osama, since they were living here after all the other al Qaeda attacks, too, under you-know-who's watch. One would think they would have been investigated after those acts of terror, right?

...he agreed to the extraordinary plan because the Federal Bureau of Investigation assured him that the departing Saudis were not linked to terrorism...

I find it hard to believe that the 'kiwi-less' FBI had any idea whether or not any of these people were linked to terrorism.

As much as I loathe LEFTISTS like Chuckie Schumer, I have to wonder about only two aircraft allowed to fly within 24 hours of 9/11. Understandably, Air Force One. The other is VERY disconcerting, an aircraft belonging to the Saudis.

Mr. Schumer said in an interview that he suspected that some of the Saudis who were allowed to leave, particularly two relatives of Mr. bin Laden who he said had links to terrorist groups themselves, could have shed light on the events of Sept. 11.

The article depicts an elaborate but hurried evacuation carried out within a week of the hijackings in which private planes picked up Saudis from 10 cities. Some aviation and bureau officials said they were upset by the operation because the government had not lifted flight restrictions for the general public, but those officials said they lacked the power to stop the evacuation, the article says.

This may very well have been published in past but, it has not been discussed here on FR at any great lengths that I can recall. Again, the events around and on 9/11 need to be discussed. We all know about Caligula Clinton's criminality. What we don't know much about imo, are things related to this thread that occured AFTER the Sinkmeister and Hildabeast.

"This is just another example of our country coddling the Saudis and giving them special privileges that others would never get," Mr. Schumer said. "It's almost as if we didn't want to find out what links existed."

Could it be because they supply us with ....oil?

Instead of griping Mr. Shumer, why don't you support our drilling on the North Slope ?
Could it be because you would lose an issue? Your quest for power for the dems trumps the welfare and security of our Country.

This story is a non-starter.
I remember TV cameras showing the plane leaving. If I remember correctly, it flew out of Logan.

schumer is spot on with this observation...
Bush has a tender spot for his saudi "partners" in the war on terrorism.. after all, only 19 or so of the terrorist murderors were actually KNOWN to be of saudi nationality...

and when the bush adminstration said they were "not yet sure" who was behind this... they had already gotten the saudis out safely.

of course we need a "homeland security act" and a whole rash of new "total information awareness" database mining types, to keep check on AMERICAN Citizens... because WE are what they want to watch... But the saudi "friends" of you know who... they were on the next plane to Riyhad....

This will get a lot more interesting before the next election.
Leaks galore and reminders we don't want to face.

EVERY one of the saudis that killed us, as far as I know, were here in violation of the terms of their visas... and this administration was NOT doing anything about their violation of immigration laws...

Our borders are still wide open.... but we ARE keeping track of every post on the internet, every bank transaction of AMERICANS who had NOTHING to do with 9-11!!!

I will still vote for Bush over Dean...
But we do have a problem with the way things are headed...
big time.
