Astronomers and philosophers have, from time almost immemorial until very recently, asserted that the moon was uninhabited, that it had no atmosphere etc.. But recent discoveries, through the means of powerful telescopes, have given scientists a doubt or two upon the old theory.
Nearly all the great discoveries of men in the last half-century have, in one way or another, either directly or indirectly, contributed to prove Joseph Smith to be a Prophet.
As far back as 1837, I know that he said the moon was inhabited by men and women the same as this earth, and that they lived to a greater age than we do -- that they live generally to near the age of a 1000 years.
He described the men as averaging near six feet in height, and dressing quite uniformly in something near the Quaker style.
In my Patriarchal blessing, given by the father of Joseph the Prophet, in Kirtland, 1837, I was told that I should preach the gospel before I was 21 years of age; that I should preach the gospel to the inhabitants upon the islands of the sea, and to the inhabitants of the moon, even the planet you can now behold with your eyes.
The first two promises have been fulfilled, and the latter may be verified.
From the verification of two promises we may reasonably expect the third to be fulfilled also.

The inspiration of God caused men to hunt for a new continent until Columbus discovered it. At the same time, he described the shape of the earth at the poles as being a rounded elongation and drew a diagram in this form; (see graphic at link) which any one can readily see will allow the sun's rays to fall so near perpendicular to the center that part of the earth may be warmed and made fruitful. He quoted scripture and proof of his theory which says that "the earth flieth upon its wings in the midst of the creations of God," and said that there was a semblance in the form of the earth that gave rise to the saying.

The moon is probably more likely to have some life than a random planet.
One theory is that the moon was formed after the earth was hit by a large object. If this happened while life was on earth, some could have been transferred.
Now, there are not too many(maybe none) Earth lifeforms that would survive and reproduce on the surface of the moon. Underground could be a different story...

I would also be suspicious of the fact that there is no atmosphere, no vegetation, no oceans, and no Mickey D’s...

According to a survey done by LDS author R. Clayton Brough, 4 percent of the LDS population believes in the hollow earth theory and that it is a probable explanation for the location of the lost 10 tribes.
Well, you just roundly refuted the words of Oliver Huntington concerning the revelation by Joseph Smith. Now, how about this from BRIGHAM YOUNG?

And while we are on the general topic of Celestial Wisdom revealed by the god of Mormonism to LDS Prophet Brigham Young, who can forget these immortal classics:

The elements of which this terra firma is composed, are every moment either composing or decomposing. They commence to organize or to compose, and continue to grow until they arrive at their zenith of perfection, and then they begin to decompose. When you find a rock that has arrived at its greatest perfection, you may know that the work of decaying has begun. Let the practical chemist make his observations upon a portion of the matter of which this earth is composed; and he will find, that just as quick as it is at its perfection, that very instant it begins to decompose. ... Gold and silver grow, and so does every other kind of metal, the same as the hair upon my head, or the wheat in the field; they do not grow as fast, but they are all the time composing or decomposing. - Journal of Discourses 1:219 (October 9, 1852)

A bible word search on "mock" will turn up some interesting results. It's something that's generally done by non-Christians no matter what the context. When Christians encountered beliefs that they didn't agree with or that were wrong, did they mock or did they teach?

Now I don't except myself from this because I'm not perfect but it seems like threads like this would serve to illustrate one thing about Christians: That they love to belittle and mock others. I think everyone should examine themselves and look at their real motivations.

I knew about mormonism before F.R. and had a solid informed opinion formed already but the things I’ve learned here reinforces it.

Or do you propose it is more polite and Christian to simply shut up and not talk about it? Let poor unsuspecting people join the LDS because they are such "good" people? And then learn the truth and have to make a decision whether or not to stay or go. Oh and BTW P-Marlowe, greyfoxx39 and I, were all members once, and had to make the grueling decision to leave. It has ultimately been to our blessing.
You forgot to add this particular disclaimer to the sermons of Brigham Young you just posted.
I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the children of men, that they may not call Scripture. Let me have the privilege of correcting a sermon, and it is as good Scripture as they deserve. The people have the oracles of God continually.
