Third parties a dud in 2012
The Examiner ^ | July 6, 2012 | Michael McGuire

Posted on 07/06/2012 6:08:23 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Voter dissatisfaction or not, there is very little support this year for third party presidential candidates.

In a Gallup Poll released Friday that includes three minor-party candidates, Barack Obama received 47 percent support, Mitt Romney 40, Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson 3, Green candidate Jill Stein 1 and Constitution Party candidate Virgil Goode less than 1.

Two percent of voters said they favor U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), 1 percent mentioned someone else, 2 percent had no opinion and 5 percent said they will not vote.

If that is bad news for minor-party candidates, it will get worse for them as the campaign continues, if historical trends continue...

So you’re voting for Obama for the good of conservatism.

No, I oppose both but realize Romney's election will do more harm to the Republican party, conservatism and the nation than Obama.

The damage done by Romney will last at least eight years and wipe out all the gains made by conservatives in 2010. Thinking that is a better outcome is completely moronic.

Obama don't need no steenking Congress or Constitution. He will rule by EO

Then, it will up to the conservative majority in Congress and at the state level to impeach or stop him. But, if he does that, there will be such a backlash against the Democratic party, Republicans will have majorities not seen in decades.

This from a clown that was pawning his TV set to send money to Newt Gingrich, long after it was obvious he had no chance of winning the nomination? You don't live in realville, do you?

You have me mixed up with someone else, Mr. Newbie. Both TV sets belong to my wife (she won them in contests at work) so I couldn’t “pawn” them if I’d wanted to. Secondly, there are two major parties in the USA (as I’m sure you know, since you’re at one of their Chicago headquarters right now) and third parties are a waste of time & money.

The House should stay Republican regardless, the Senate (at present) should narrowly flip. But as Kazan pointed out, Willard (if this nation is saddled with that fraud) will cost us both by 2014. It’s not too late to dump Willard and nominate a man of character and accomplishment like Scott Walker.

What is it with these Willardbots that shriek in terror when I dare add a name or two (or more) to the response box ?

We need a second party in this country, not the Socialist runoff in November.

Congrats, too, on your move to Dallas.

Thank you for your reply. Pinging people to a thread is quite different than pinging people to a specific post. I apologize if I misunderstood your motive. Although we obviously do not agree with one another...it seemed we were having a civil discussion.

The truth of the matter is this, fieldmarshaldj, I really don’t care who you or anyone else on this board votes for. I won’t change your mind..you won’t change mine. I do enjoy an exchange of ideas.

Am I sick that Romney is the apparent nominee...you bet. If it were anybody but O that, has a good a chance of winning, I’d be marching right beside you. I fear O. If he is not the devil he definetely has him on speed dial. (dang, now I’ll have the religion forum on me...it’s just a joke folks).

The Repub party was not lost overnight. It won’t be reclaimed in a short two years. So for this election, if they put a can of spaghettios on the ticket, I’ll drag myself to vote for spaghettios. And I’ll continue to vote in the most conservative candidates I can for the House, Senate and at state and local levels.

I like your optimistic nature.

I am extremely hopeful Scott Walker or another conservative will be elected President in 2016 if Romney loses and that a sizable conservative majority in Congress will await him.

I’ve spent over 6 years ringing alarm bells about Willard and the disaster he would be holding the “supreme” reins of power. I worked hard enlightening folks about him and derailing his candidacy (for which I thought would finally be dead and buried with 2008... only to see it rise like an unholy zombie). It is unimaginable that I would ever support him since I view him as even more dangerous than Zero. At least Zero doesn’t try to run as a Republican and maximize damage and dissension in the ranks as Willard is doing. Voting for one or the other, however, will not halt the disastrous course this country is on... removing both is the only option.

BTW, I would also vote for a can of Spaghetti-O’s if it was the nominee against Zero... but Willard ? Not a chance in hell. Spaghetti-O’s are harmless. Willard is a Mack Truck without brakes speeding down the side of a mountain.

There is no guarantee this link will work..I’m not good at this.

In the political world..2016 is a lifetime away.

Once again, I really like your optimism.

As I have already said...I am sick that we are faced with a lose-lose proposition.

You vote your conscience...I’ll vote mine.

Perhaps around...oh...2014, we’ll stumble upon one another on this site and compare notes.

I'd be strongly in favor of that. But I don't see it happening.

You’re not voting for Obama?

Either Romney or Obama will be the next president.

You think it better if it’s Obama than Romney.

So, why not act to effect the outcome you think is best?
