My daughter's college history book managed to describe the ending of the Cold War with no mention AT ALL of President Reagan. My prayer is the textbook authors and the professors will have their eyes opened this week. From what I've seen on the alphabet channels so far, credit IS being given to Ronald Reagan, as he deserves.

I don't care about that stuff. Can't we have one Reagan thread without the input of what devilcrats are currently spewing.

Ronald was my CIC while I was in the service
I just re-read my reply to you from when you wrote this. I said "say thank you again", and thought I said "say thank you again, and thank you for your service."
Thank you for your service. :)

Everyone is a bit sensitive today Matt.
This crap can wait until after the funeral.
The forum has already been hit by DU ers and the folks are hittin the abuse button on the trash.
Let's just let those idiots buy their place in hell. We know what they think and what they will say. they even hit C-span. I turned the crap off and went back to FOX, who has the only proper respect.

Not only were there "Reagan democrats", there were also "Multi-generational Reaganites". The man is just loved by ALL.

This should be a good opportunity for the young to get a history lesson.
Hope some of it sticks!

This is a sad day for America, but also a joyful recognition of a life lived well. Well said, AC. Thanks.

Ok I give up...this is about the 3rd or 4th time that Shep has asked someone about whether President Reagan was showing signs of Alzheimers in the last couple years of his administration! Perhaps someone should respond by asking Shep if he's showing signs of Alzheimers?

Greatness is described by the envy surrounding it.
To: supercat
He sure is irritating. I turn him off or change the channel when his show comes on.

I've wondered what God had in mind that he let Reagan hold on so long. He died one day before D-Day + 60, in the middle of a political campaign. The Founders are mythic figures to me. When I read about them there is a depth and humanity that I hardly fathom. Three men in my lifetime are in their spiritual company. Eisenhower, Reagan, Bush. We complain about the sheeple on this board, but the sheeple elected these men President 5 times. I think the images of this weekend will help make it 6.

Thay've been talking about Reagan's legacy all evening on the local talk radio stations here in New York, and I think it took me a while before I realized just how quickly time has passed -- Reagan was elected 24 years ago. Wow.

Reagan was elected 24 years ago. Wow That's right. I haven't been online much lately, but I'm glad that almost everyone (radio, tv, etc) is talking about Reagan and his legacy.

The timing is eerie isn't it? It almost seems as if ,even in sickness and death, he wanted to do one last thing for this nation he loved. I believe ,if he a choice, he would do whatever he could to help America. God Bless you President Reagan.
To: All
I wept today. Ronald Reagan was the greatest post-Lincoln President of them all. His service to our nation resulted more people becoming free all around the world than any other President in history. Hopefully he will be remembered in places as remote as Poland, Nicaragua, Grenada, East Germany, Georgia, Slovakia and all throughout the nation of Russia. We lost a great man today.

There's one guy on a New York station who is a lifelong Democrat, and his show tonight was magnificent. He played a lot of audio clips from Reagan's old speeches.
