Bush had better get his head out of his ass before next month.

Illegals are a major problem in Ohio. If he attempts to aid them then he will lose this state.

There are a lot of conservatives who will stay home.

The White House is walking a fine thin line on this one. It may be that Bush is counting the Mexican vote to help him pull this one out and he fears alienating them with these bills.

I can't figure out Bush's stance against making people obey immigration law. I guess he is trying to court the Hispanic vote.
I guess I found the biggest thing I disagree with this administration...
I still will vote for him, but we have to try to change this stance, if we are serious about protecting ourselves against terrorists.

Congress needs to distance themselves from this White house. Bush doesn't have the guts to veto it.

I say challenge him.

This is precisely the kind of thing that will cause me to have to hold my nose while voting for 43.

I did that with his daddy in '88 and '92, with Dole in '96, and with GWB in 2000.

Isn't there another Ronald Reagan out there, somewhere? Will we ever have a conservative candidate again, somebody outside the beltway-country club GOP establishment?

I'm way past tired of voting for "the lesser of two evils." I guess it's time to check out the Constitution Party website once more!

What is Bush's problem with stopping illegal immigration?

Bush is doing fine as a war president, but his thinking about closing the border is beyond me. This is bound to have an adverse effect on the man he picks to succeed him.

After Bush is elected it will be time to go after his immigration policies through the courts and the Legislature. If Bush won't stop illegals from entering this country the American people will have to go around him, and maybe the man who succeeds him too.

I will NOT vote for Bush if this is not changed. Mexico should NOT be anything special. They (Mexico) sure as hell don't bend over backwards to help the US or its citizens.

This sounds like political expediency.. or political trepidations..

Sounds like Bush is afraid the Dems will use the bill's passage as ammunition against him..
He's probably right..

But they will do so no matter what is in the bill..
If it is changed as he wishes, they will simply attack him for laxness on "security" issues..

damned if you do, damned if you don't..

I'd sure like to ask Dubya what's behind this. I mean, compassionate conservatism is fine. But, illegal is illegal. Either facilitate enforcement of the law, or change it.

President Bush needs to get his head out of his rump on this issue. Mexico, and the illegals it sends here, are doing nothing but exploiting us. Another hospital is shutting down it's emergency care in L.A., we house their criminals, etc. yet this is how they treat our people.

This needs some more confirmation... before we conservatives leave the section for President 'blank' on election day.

But this looks very bad for Bush. Perhaps this leak is a sneaky trick by the Soros, Kerry crowd.

This means that Bush needs to support these "controversial" provisions that will keep America safe from illegal alien terrorists. If he doesn't support them, then this leak is true.

Can't be any simpler than this: Bush supports these anti-alien terrorist provisisions that he claimed he did earlier, or he doesn't. If he doesn't, he shouldn't get the conservative vote.

Straight ticket Republican voters should just leave the President slot blank if Bush doesn't push anti-illegal-alien legislation through.

I would think the White House could strike a deal with House leaders to agree to consider these provisions as part of another piece of legislation after the election so that the Senate version could move forward and be signed into law.

Imagine Denny Hastert and company could be agreeable to this...unless this White House has made similar promises on this issue in the past that it's not kept.

IMO, he is a frigging MORON!
He almost caused Dubya to lose in 2000 (by hiding Dybya for the last two weeks) and bears sole responsibility for the ensuing debacle - and he's doing his damnedest to REPEAT IT!
