Why? As far as I can tell the Arabic population of Dearborn (East Side) is very supportive of GWB. In fact, "Ford Field" was swarming with celebratory Arabs the day that Saddam's statue fell! It was a sight to see.
I disagree. Spencer Abraham's opponent was not John Kerry.
Wouldn't that work in Kerry's favor though---if she decided to hold off on tax increases?
What a loon!

It seems that we peaked a little too early in Wisconsin, but we are peaking just right in MI, MN and IA.
Tennessee, anyone?

The celebrants at that affair were the few Arabs who were Iraqis. The other Arabs have not been, and are not now, generally supportive of the War or Bush. They now vote about 90% Democrat, just like the blacks.
If Michigan voters are aware of her tax plan even it will still hurt Kerry even if she does not implement it before November 2nd.
I live right in the heart of Macomb County and I've seen many Bush/Cheney signs, too. Even in my neighborhood where I remember a majority had Gore/Lieberman signs in 2000. I drive a lot every day, too, and I see a lot of BC signs everywhere. My wife and I are both voting for President Bush. I think we have a good chance in Michigan this year.
Remember UAW rules in MI, and by contract they get 11/2/2004 as a day off to vote!!
The UAW is nowhere near the political force it once was. I think about 40% of its members vote Rebuplican. Secondly, I don't think getting the day off brings out the vote all that much. Those that were inclined to vote , would have anyway, while the disinclined will use the free time to shop at Walmarts.
Based on my personal experience as a resident of Dearborn, I think you would be surprised. Most of the Arabs I have interacted with are supportive of Bush. They are generally small business owners and they realize the freedom that they gained by leaving the ME and coming to the US.
Of course, I haven't interacted with every Arab, but the feel is pro-Bush. In addition, there will always be some contingent that is anti-American and their minds will never be changed.
Why are the residents of outstate Michigan living in fear?
I asked one of my liberal friends who lives outside of Detroit what he thought of the Detroit News. This is his reply:
"The News is a quintessential right-wing echo-chamber blather-spewing fishwrapper from way back, although the sports page is fine. The Saturday before Engler-Blanchard gov off-year election in early 90's (a date which will live in infamy), it had a blaring headline that Blanchard had a 20 point lead so it was in the bag. This undoubtedly contributed to a very low Detroit turnout and the nightmare that ensued. Accordingly, I tend to take their poll results with a grain of salt."
Take it for what it's worth. My friend is very far left but he is intelligent.
Go W!
Ooooooohhh. I see, said the blind man.
Your friend probably thinks the "Free Press" is "Fair and Balanced"......The News is the furthest right of the two, but it certainly isn't a "right wing echo chamber."
George W. Bush will win reelection by a margin of at least ten per cent
